I’m happy to say that things are starting to sorta kinda return to somewhat normal! Even though I’m still VERY tired and VERY worn out, I think the hormones are starting to stabilize a bit. YAY!
I’m also happy to say that Carson is a wonderful sleeper!!! He’s definitely my best newborn sleeper yet. He had his days and nights figured out from day one, which is a miracle. He’s been sleeping for about 5 hours in one stretch the past couple nights and it’s been wonderful. Although, I still seem to wake up a million times every night just to make sure he’s still breathing.
Yes, I’m paranoid.
He’s sure a sweetie and I’m loving every single second with him. I can’t believe he’s 9 days old already. He’s growing up too fast. Sigh.
My kidlets have been enjoying him so so much! My two oldest would hold him all day long if I let them…
It’s been so helpful. Whenever they hold him, I run around the house like a crazy lady and try to clean up, change laundry, change the dishwasher, etc. before he needs to be fed again.
So far, it’s working out well.

Well, last week I pretty much allowed myself to eat whatever the heck I wanted. It was very fun. I was definitely in “survival mode” and a little sugar/salty/fatty/crappy food helped to lift the spirits a bit.
However, I knew I couldn’t eat that way for too long. Soooooo, this week I’ve decided to clean the diet up! I’ve been trying to eat as “real” as possible. I’ve been avoiding treats/sugary things, chips, fried foods and most processed foods.
It’s been a little tough, but it feels so good to be disciplined! It’s also nice to know that the scale can actually go DOWN for a change! We’ll see how it goes.
I’m not being super duper strict, but I’m just trying to eat higher quality things. Here are some of things I’ve been enjoying;
I had this for breakfast this morning….
1 egg + 3 egg whites scrambled with green onions, peppers, olives, turkey, tomatoes and avocado. I also had a whole wheat English Muffin on the side topped with a little butter and honey.
I had this for breakfast yesterday…
A breakfast burrito (using a La Tortilla Factory tortilla) filled with 1 egg, 3 egg whites, green onions, peppers, olives, turkey, tomatoes and a little cheese. I actually ended up eating this with a fork because I filled the tortilla too full. I seem to do that a lot, lol.
I had a really random lunch yesterday….
Leftover broccoli, salad and a Banana Protein Pancake topped with peanut butter. YUM!
AND, this was dinner last night…
A leftover enchilada topped with salsa, sour cream and avocado and a bunch of lettuce on the side.
This tasted so good to me! My sweet sister and her family brought us dinner on Sunday night. She made Chicken Enchiladas, Spanish rice, corn and salad.
My parent’s came out too and brought a bunch of yummy treats. It was a nice night and I even managed to take a selfie with Kev and my sis….
I’ve also been enjoying some yummy snacks. We bought a big ol’ box of green pears just before Carson was born, so this past week they were RIPE and ready to use!
We ended up making a bunch of dried pears. They are seriously so so good!
They are a very healthy snack, except I tend to OVERDOSE on them! I could easily eat 3-4 pears worth in one sitting, lol! I’ve tried to limit it to a couple of small handfuls per day.
I also made some of my Healthy Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins today.
My cute 6 year old was patiently waiting to eat one of these as I took this picture. That is his cute hand reaching out to grab one. Too funny.
I’ve also been allowing myself a few small handfuls of chocolate chips for good measure. I may loosen up a bit on the weekends too. We’ll see how it goes.
This seems to be a very practical and realistic diet for me right now. I hope it allows me to lose the baby weight at a decent rate. We’ll see. I imagine this type of diet will probably get me within 10 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. At that point, I’ll probably have to tighten it up to lose the last bit of weight.
Of course, I’ll take pictures of my progress along the way! In fact, I took my first official “1 week postpartum” picture on Sunday. I feel very much like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
I realize I probably should have worn “fitness-y clothes” to show the progress a little more. I’ve just been living in stretchy pants and comfy shirts, so that’s what I took my picture in! I’m hoping the arms/face/thighs/bum will deflate as I fill my body with real, healthy food! Fingers Crossed.
Well that’s all for now folks. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!
