Well, I’m still trudging along with my little 7 day weight loss cleanse. It’s tough, but I really love it. I’ve already lost 2 1/2 pounds, have plenty of energy and feel great!
Usually when I try to lose weight, I just tighten up my diet a bit and patiently wait for each little pound to drop. It seems to take forever and I end up losing motivation and feeling defeated. 🙁 I’m sure many of you can relate. Why is it that weight seems to pile on effortlessly, but is next to impossible to take off???
So, that is one of the things I love about this cleanse….it’s just 7 little measly days! I can do anything for 7 days, right?
Anyway, here’s an overview of my week so far!
Exercise:
Monday: I went to my fav Boot Camp class and it just about killed me! It was high intense cardio the WHOLE time with a little bit of weights mixed in. I’ve always loved the class, but I swear it’s gotten harder the past few months. I love it! I figure, if I’m taking the time (away from my family) to get to the gym, I’m gonna leave it all on the floor!
Tuesday: I went on a quick 2 mile run on the treadmill. Yuck. The weather here has been terrible. Seriously, I feel like we live in a deep freezer. The temps have been in the single digits and below zero for weeks. Our air quality has been gross too. Sooo, I haven’t wanted to run outside. Spring could not come any sooner. 🙂 That little groundhog better NOT see his shadow….or I will have his head.
Wednesday: I went to my Muscle Works class at the gym. It is such a great class and the instructor is such a kind, happy, motivational person. I am so sore today (awesome!), especially my inner thighs (double awesome!)
Today: I’m going to my Power Flex class in just a little bit. I always get my butt kicked in that class and I love it so much! Can I just tell you how grateful I am to have incredible gym instructors!? Yes, I love them all. 😉
Water Intake:
I’ve definitely been getting my 3 liters of water in. I keep my trusty Brita 1 Gallon pitcher in my kitchen and grab a glass every time I’m in there. I even bought some lemons and have been enjoying lemon water as well. Super refreshing.
Sleep:
This is the one I always struggle with. I’m happy to say I’m doing fine in this area. I’ve been getting about 7 hours a night this week. I would love to get 8, but can’t seem to get there!
Diet:
Obviously, this is the most important factor in this cleanse. I’m happy to say I haven’t cheated at all. Woo hoo. Fruit and small spoonfuls of peanut butter have been satisfying my sweet tooth for now. Here are some pics of things I’ve been eating the past few days;
Quinoa, veggie & egg scramble topped with tomatoes and low sugar ketchup. Served with a side of fruit!
This was breakfast this morning. OIAJ (Oats in a Jar) served with a side of 3 scrambled egg whites topped with low sugar ketchup.
A peak inside…
Chocolate Spinach Protein Shake. 1 C. unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 T. ground flax seed, 1 T. cocoa, a little almond extract, 2 big handfuls of baby spinach and 6-7 ice cubes.
I was not feelin’ the “salad vibe” yesterday, so this was what I came up with instead. Super yummy!! 2 sticks of celery and 1/2 banana all topped with yummy natural peanut butter.
Leftover Lentil soup! I had this for lunch yesterday along with an orange. Leftovers definitely make this cleanse easier.
Turkey burgers, green bean fries and fruit. I made this for dinner Tuesday night and had the leftovers for dinner last night. It was so yummy and reminded me of summer!!
The other day I was having a serious sweets craving. This is what I came up with; 1 1/2 Tablespoon natural peanut butter, 1 T. oatmeal and a little stevia. It was actually perty good and seemed to quiet the sugar demons. 😉
Well, that’s about it. I will post recipes for a lot of these things soon! Have a wonderful Thursday night. Tomorrow’s Friday….yippee! 😉

You certainly hit the nail on the head with weight loss. It piles on so easily but is a bear to get off. What gives?!
Keep up the great work.

Thanks Amy! Seriously, weight loss bites. Weight gain, on the other hand, is a blast, lol!

I need to try something like this! That’s awesome you saw results after just a few days. Seems easy enough and your meals look delicious, too! Are you going to keep it up after this week?
Melanie says
I think you would love this cleanse! It’s especially helpful with losing those last pesky 10 pounds! It hasn’t been too hard, but it does get a little old. I won’t keep it up to this extent after this week, but I’ll keep on eating well! 😉

You’re all about that ketchup, eh?
Melanie says
LOL! I do love my low sugar ketchup! I think it makes regular food taste like comfort food, yum! 😉
Irene says
Way to go! You make it seem very easy with delicious meals you have. And not to mention they are so so healthy. Keep it up and you will get the result you want…berry berry soon.
Melanie says
Thank you so much! 😉 I really have enjoyed most of the meals I’ve eaten. It’s been tough, but I love knowing I’m feeding my body healthy things.

Melaine I work 12 hour night shifts 7p-7a and I know its not good to eat at night. However, what foods or meals would you suggest I eat for my lunch at work?
Melanie says
Ya know, I don’t think it’s too bad to eat at night IF you’re awake! I think it’s just bad to eat a bunch and then go to sleep. There are a lot of things you could bring for lunch and snacks. Probably the easiest thing is to just bring leftovers from a healthy dinner. You could also bring salad (dressing in a separate container), veggies with hummus or other dip, fruit with peanut butter, healthy crackers dipped in cottage cheese, nuts, Greek yogurt with fruit, a sandwich made on a sandwich thin or Flat Out, hard boiled eggs or string cheese. That’s all I can think of for now. Good luck!

Congrats on your weight loss–I am so jealous but planning to give your cleanse a try next week. It looks so much healthier and reasonable than those cleanses where people practically starve themselves. Thanks so much for sharing.
Melanie says
Thank you so much! I completely agree. I have never been a fan of liquid cleanses or starvation cleanses. It seems so counter intuitive. This cleanse is definitely lower calories, so I’ve been hungry a little bit. But, it WORKS and I know I’m not depriving my body of nutrition. I hope to put all the details together in a more organized way so people can follow it too. I hope you try it out and definitely let me know how it goes!

Way to go Melanie! I am totally with you on cleanses that are all liquid or nearly starving yourself. Say what?! That just defeats your metabolism. Love all of your recipes and tips!
Melanie says
Thanks so much Tiffany!
