Happy New Year 2020! I really can’t believe it’s the year 2020!? I vividly remember as a kid talking about the year 2000 and how old I’d be. It always seemed so far away.
Now, here we are TWENTY YEARS later than that! It’s crazy.
I’ve decided 2020 is going to be a good year! This is also the year that I turn FORTY FOUR! I really can’t believe I’m that old, but hey, four is my favorite number….so it’s gotta be a good year, right??
I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas. We had a great Christmas! I really tried to find ways to soak up the holiday season and we had a lot of fun. However, the last week before Christmas wasn’t very fun. It was just so darn busy and I was running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off….and I was frustrated ’bout that because I really just wanted to sit back, do nothing and just enjoy the Christmas season!
Boo.
I need to find a better way to get all the Christmas stuff done early and to simplify things in general so I can just enjoy the season and not wear myself out so much!
On Christmas Eve, we decided to make a Pot Roast dinner and it was so yummy!
We made roast, carrots, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy and we had a loaf of Great Harvest bread on the side. SO DARN GOOD!
After dinner, we all sat around the Christmas tree, the kiddos all got new pajamas, we sang some Christmas carols and we read our new Christmas book (we get a new one every year.) This year we got the original story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer….
Kevin’s dad also had a 65+ year tradition of reading the story, How Mrs. Claus Saved Christmas every Christmas Eve. He passed away a couple of months ago and we are so grateful that one of our nieces uploaded a video of him reading that story. Sooooo, all the kids gathered around Kevin’s phone as we heard Kev’s dad reading the story via YouTube.
It was awesome.
Afterward, we chatted for a little bit and then we went on a Christmas drive to look at all of the beautiful Christmas lights! It was a fun night.
When we got home, all of the kids wanted to sleep together in my oldest son’s room. BTW, his room was a MESS, so the kids all helped to clear space so they all could fit, lol.
I was so grateful they all wanted to sleep together! Oh, how I love these sweet, precious kiddos….who are all growing up way too fast!
After the kids went to bed, Kev and I started wrapping all the presents. Yes, I know we should have done it earlier, but we never do! AND, one really bad thing about waiting to wrap the presents until the last minute is that for the first time ever, I realized we were almost out of wrapping paper!
Gasp! I was seriously dying and almost panicking! I wasn’t quite sure what we were going to do, but we got creative and made it work!
We used what was left of the wrapping paper for the little boys and then the bigger kids got recycled amazon packaging, various gift bags and Kev even wrapped something of my daughter’s in the empty wrapping paper tube! Ha ha.
The big kids said they actually enjoyed all of the creative wrapping!
Here is the tree with all the presents Christmas Eve night…
You can zoom in and see some of our handiwork, lol!
Christmas morning was magical. I soooooo love hearing the kids wake up and how excited they are. I told them they couldn’t wake anyone up until 8:00, so right at 8 o’clock they were ready to go!
We enjoyed watching everyone open presents and I loved seeing all the kids gathered in the family room afterward enjoying some of their gifts…
I got some Lego sets for my older boys because they said they love building Legos Christmas morning. I enjoyed watching them build them together.
I got my daughter a Diamond Painting set (kind of a mix between cross stitch and paint by number) and she loved it! I was so glad she enjoyed it because I’d never heard of it before. I saw an ad for it and it looked cool, so I decided to take a gamble and get her one in hopes she’d enjoy it!
She loved it and didn’t want to stop working on it all day long!
We had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you all had a wonderful one as well!

Well, today I want to talk about the Happy Being Healthy New Year’s Challenge that I organized!
I’ve been meaning to hop on this blog and tell y’all about it, but I’m sorry to say I’ve been a slacker and haven’t done it before now.
I’m especially sorry ’bout that because the challenge started TODAY! Ha ha! But, it’s FREE and if you still want to do it, it’s not a big deal at all to start late!!
I would love any and all of you who want to do it, to do it with me! It’s six weeks long and if you stick with it you WILL see and feel amazing changes!
It’s not a quick fix, fad diet or extreme challenge. It’s about really digging deep, identifying areas of your life that you need to improve in and then making and developing healthy habits that will bless your life throughout the challenge and hopefully throughout the whole year and beyond.
We are focusing on six main healthy habits. They are:
- Eating a good, clean healthy diet
- Tracking food intake
- Getting 7+ hours of sleep each night
- Practicing self-care every day
- Drinking 100+ ounces of water every day
- Exercising 4-6 times per week
These habits are the basic and fundamental things that make up a healthy lifestyle. There are also a few other healthy habits that I highly recommend, but you can choose to add them to your challenge or not. They are:
- Intermittent Fasting
- Daily Vitamins
- Starting the morning off with warm lemon water
You can also feel free to add any other additional goals you’d like to work on!
I shared A LOT more information about this challenge on the Facebook page and I have already done two Facebook Live videos and shared lots of tips and tricks! I will do everything I can to cheer you on, keep you motivated and help you be successful!
Sooooo, if you’d like to join, click here to go to the Facebook page or just leave me a comment or send me a message telling me you’d like to join and I will add you!!
Well, that’s all for tonight folks. I gotta wrap this up so I can get my 7+ hours of sleep!
I hope you are all happy and healthy and enjoying your New Year! xoxo
Leave a comment....I would love to hear from you!
