Happy 4th of July to you all! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday.
I started this morning off with a fun local 10K (6.2 mile) race with Kev, my sister Holly and a bunch of our friends. I really love running races on the 4th of July and Thanksgiving. They are my favs.
However, I was a little worried about this race. First off, our June was super duper crazy, so I really haven’t been running much. I think I ran 2-3 times in the past 3 weeks! AND, I ran 4 1/2 miles this past Monday and felt so yucky. It just was not a good run for me.
Soooo, I was worried about bonking on this race. 🙁 Even though it was just a 10K, I was still a little nervous.
But, I did just fine. I love races! There is such a fun energy and excitement there. It’s great. I finished in 52:20 and felt okay about that. I really wanted to be under 50 minutes, but considering my life as of late I was just fine with my time. I came in 18th place (out of 124) for the women (woop-de-do.) My sister came in 11th. It was fun.
Well we are now getting ready to take the kids out to see fireworks! Fun! I love fireworks and I love this time of year.
Our city puts on a great show and we’ve found a great spot to watch them. It’s a small little undiscovered spot of grass next to Taco Bell. We order Taco Bell for dinner and sit and watch the Fireworks. It’s become a fun “redneck” tradition for our little family.
Well…..happy 4th y’all! Have fun and be safe!!
