Well, I told y’all our Anniversary was on Monday (August 13th). Fun.
First off, my sweet husband (who apparently doesn’t read my blog), got me a very thoughtful gift…
The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and the chocolate was absolutely dangerous!
I have to say, I freaked out just a little when I saw the chocolate. Oh and just a quick note: Kev really does read my blog….he just happens to know what I LOVE as well! Dang it.
I’ve had plenty of “chocolate covered whatevers” from Costco and they are all SO DANG GOOD. In fact, I love them so much that I’ve never bought any of them ever (except as gifts.) They are that good and that dangerous.
Scary good.
“Eat the whole jar in one sitting” kind of good.
So, I resisted them for quite a while. Then, on Tuesday I’m sorry to say I ate a few….and then got rid of them as quickly as I possibly could. I fed them to my kids and all of their friends. They were gone in no time flat.
Mission accomplished.
However, when Kev got home from work he was disappointed and amazed that they were all gone!
Oooppps. I just know I have an addiction problem and can’t handle them in my house!
Anyway, on Monday night we went out to eat at Madelines Steakhouse. We’d never been there before, so we thought it would be fun to try something new. They also had a little “Early Bird Special” that looked tempting. I’m a sucker for a good deal, so we decided to go!
I’m sorry to say I was less than enchanted by Madeline’s. I feel a little rude giving a restaurant a bad review, but I happen to be a food blogger! I tell y’all everything…the good, the bad and the ugly!
Madeline’s wasn’t terrible, but it definitely could have been a lot better! First off, as we were walking into the restaurant we noticed a very strong sewage smell. I don’t know about y’all, but when I go to a steakhouse, I like to smell STEAK, not sewage. I told Kev, “Maybe it’s just the seafood.” He said, “That’s some pretty rotten seafood then!” Lol!
Secondly, our waitress was psycho! When we got there, we told our hostess we were interested in the Early Bird Special. So…she showed us the little “Early Bird Advertisement” thing at our table. However, when our waitress showed up, she quickly turned the little “Early Bird” thingy around and then told us about the very expensive options!
WHO DOES THAT???
When we told her we were interested in the “deal”, she acted so annoyed and put off. Kev and I were amazed! It was a little crazy. ALSO, we heard the waiter next to us introduce the “Early Bird Special” first thing to the people he was serving.
What in the heck was wrong with our lady???
She was rude the whole night. It made for a good laugh though. Kev and I were so surprised.
The food was marginal at best. We both ordered the little steak skewers. Kev had mashed potatoes with his and I ordered the sweet potatoes.
I had to laugh when I asked Kev to take this pic. The sweet potatoes were yummy (although sugary!), but they did not look yummy…at all. We also thought the skewers were a little skimpy.
ALSO, while we were eating, a HUGE group came in! It took them forever to get seated, so seriously, for about 10 minutes there were people hanging out right in front of our table standing and waiting to be seated. Kev said, “I feel like we’re at the zoo…and we’re the exhibit!” I laughed and laughed and laughed at that!
Sooooo, we had a great time together, but I’m sure we’ll never go to Madeline’s again.
Yikes.
Leave a comment....I would love to hear from you!
