Hello my friends!
Well I just got back from a fun, much needed break this weekend. My dear childhood friends and I went on a fun girl’s trip to Las Vegas! Woot, woot!
I can’t say I love Vegas, but it was sure fun to get away with my besties for a little while!
I’ve been friends with Melissa and Ali (the two in the back) since about 9th grade and I’ve been friends with Kristen since birth. Seriously, we went to preschool together and I can’t remember not knowing her!
I love these sweet friends of mine!
Interestingly enough, we went to Vegas together about two years ago as well. You can click here to read all about that trip and see some pictures from our childhood if you care to as well!
I’ve mentioned that I don’t love Vegas, but it’s only about a 6 hour drive from our house and there’s always somethin’ exciting happening there! It’s so nice to have a place that’s so close and easy to get to that always has so much going on and is always warm!
The main purpose of this trip was to see Paul McCartney in concert.
Folks, I just love him so much! I’ve loved him since like 8th grade. This is the third time I’ve seen him in concert and he never disappoints! I realized that he’s now 77 years old and only gettin’ older! I wanted to see him again while I still could!
Oh, he is the sweetest man! He is such an amazing artist, icon and historic figure. It’s almost surreal to see him in real life! We also had a special treat at the end when he brought Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith) out on stage with him to sing Helter Skelter.
It was so fun and such a wonderful night!
Other than the concert, we had fun soaking up the sun at the pool…
Eating good food…
And just enjoying the crazy, but fun city!
We even got out on the dance floor and danced our little sober hearts out in the middle of the hotel one night (I think we were the only sober ones in the place, ha ha!)
We had a great time and I loved every minute of it! I’m so grateful for wonderful friends.

Well today I also thought I would share some of my favorite healthy travel snacks since I just got back from travelin’. I’ve taken these snacks with me on many, many trips and I’m always so grateful for them!
They help me to eat better, eat less and save money. Win, win, win.
These first three are my “staple travel snacks.” These are the things I take with me on most trips, whether it’s just a quick road trip or a longer sightseeing trip.
Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs are such an easy, simple, naturally portable, high protein snack. I just pack them in a container in my small cooler with some salt and pepper on the side. They are perfect for a quick and easy breakfast or just a quick snack.
Premade Protein Shakes and Protein Bars
I don’t eat premade shakes or protein bars at home usually, but I’m always grateful for them when I travel! They are both so easy to stash in the purse for a quick snack and help to keep hunger at bay until I can eat an actual meal.
I recently bought those Ready Nutrition “Clean” protein bars at Costco and they are great! I like the Think Thin bars becasue they are smaller and lower in calories. Perfect for a quick bite. I’ve enjoyed those G2G Protein Bars for a few years now. They are yummy!
Those Premier Protein Shakes are fabulous! They taste great and are so easy to grab on the run or when traveling. Kev drinks them on a regular basis, but I usually only drink them when I’m not able to make my own homemade protein shake.
Oatmeal
This is one of my very favorite things to take with me when I travel! Oatmeal is such a nutritious, filling, versatile and yummy thing to eat.
I like to bring small baggies of pre-measured oatmeal (usually 1/3-1/2 cup) and then small baggies of pre-measured protein powder mixed with flax seed and/or cocoa. I always bring a small container (like the one in the picture) to cook it in and some nut butter to put on top.
If I have access to a microwave, I just pour the oatmeal in the container, cover it with water and microwave it for two minutes. I then top it with my protein powder mixture and a dollup of nut butter.
If I don’t have a microwave, I just use some hot water from a coffee maker. I put the oatmeal in the container, cover it with the hot water from the coffee maker and then put the lid on the container. I let it sit for a few minutes and then top it with the protein powder mixture and nut butter.
Easy peasy! Don’t forget to bring some plastic spoons too!

Well, those three are my top travel snacks, but here are some other things I like to bring with me as well. I particularly like to bring these things on road trips and/or when I’m traveling with my whole family.
Veggies and Dip
This is such an easy thing to bring. Just cut up some veggies, put them in a container and pack some veggie dip on the side.
If you need a good, healthy veggie dip, you can try this one from my recipe section.
Fruit
Fruit is naturally portable, yummy and full of nutrition. Apples and berries are my favorite things to bring. I usually cut up the apples and pack them in baggies. I like to pre-wash the berries and pack them in smaller containers.
My kids especially love it when I bring a big container of washed and cut strawberries. Yum!
Greens Powder and Collagen Peptides
These are just very simple and easy things to travel with that help to get in more micro-nutrients and protein!
You can just mix these with a little water and voila, you’re good to go! I’ve used that Nested Super Greens powder for a while now and I love it! I usually mix it into my protein shakes, but it’s easy to just mix with water too.
I just bought that Nature Plus You Super Green Foods on Amazon and I haven’t even tried it yet. It had great reviews though!
These two collagen peptides are my favorites. They taste and seem exactly the same to me. I just buy which ever one is on sale or cheaper at the time.
I buy the Sports Research one on Amazon and the Vital Proteins one at Costco (it’s also available on Amazon, but it’s cheaper at Costco!)
Peanut Butter and Jelly/Honey Sandwiches
This is an easy, no-brainer thing to bring, but it’s a game changer when lots of kids are involved! I usually bring a smaller bottle of honey and I either bring small jars of peanut butter and jelly or I just bring my own small containers full of them.
So simple and so cheap!
Tuna Fish and Healthy Wraps
This is one of my favorite things to pack because it’s yummy, filling, easy and healthy!
I just bring the tuna fish filling (tuna, pickles and mayo) in a small container and bring some healthy wraps or pita bread on the side. These Flatout Fold-it’s are some of my favorites. They are so good and awesome!
Healthier Chips/Crackers and Cottage Cheese
Ya know, I’ve learned that when I’m traveling I like to have a crunchy, salty, indulgent-ish snack sometimes. These things fit the bill. They aren’t exactly “healthy,” but they’re not terrible either.
I love these veggie straws because the serving size is like 38 or something! I love that I can just eat a handful (or two!) and be satisfied. I also love to bring healthier crackers or chips and dip them in cottage cheese.
It’s tastes indulgent and packs in some protein as well! FYI, I usually just bring a small container of cottage cheese, not that giant Costco sized one. 😉

Well folks, these are my staple healthy travel snacks that I like to bring with me on the go! It takes a little bit of prep work to get ready, but I’m always so glad when I take the time!
It helps me to come back from vacation feeling somewhat on track and not like a huge rollie pollie! These are also easy snacks you can eat at home too.
Well, I hope you are all well and enjoying this beautiful summer vacation! Much love to you all!
