Hey guys! I hope you are all enjoying your summer!
I think it goes without saying, but I have been a lame-o blogger lately!!! Auuuugh. I know I’m always talking about my crazy life….blah, blah, blah, but it just continues to stay crazy and it’s just the life I’m livin’! It is nuts. I know all of you mothers out there can relate.
I haven’t decided if life is crazier during summer or during the school year?? I’m definitely enjoying the break from the kids’ homework, projects, driving them all over the place (wait….I’m still doing that!) and getting them to bed early (or trying to) and getting everyone up early in the morning (or trying to!) BUT….it’s been crazy having all the kids (+ all the friends!) home, making food every 15 minutes, having someone (or several someones) say “mom” incessantly and just running around doing all the fun things that summer brings.
I’ve actually been loving summer, but I feel like my never ending to-do list just keeps getting longer. Oy!
I have a bunch of random pics and things to share, so here it goes…
We went to a wedding yesterday for our dear friends’ daughter. It was beautiful! It was actually at the Salt Lake Temple, which is where Kev and I were married almost TWENTY years ago!!! Wha???!??! Seriously folks, time flies!! The older I get, the faster it goes.
Since we found ourselves at the same place we were married, I decided that Kev and I needed to take a selfie. AND wow, do we look old! I scrounged up a pic from our wedding day (at our wedding luncheon) to compare…
It seriously trips me out to see us getting older!! I don’t feel much older?? I’m just grateful that I get to grow old with my favorite man!
*******************
We also went on a fun, very quick road trip last weekend. We went up to Idaho and Oregon to visit Kev’s family and to attend our nephew’s wedding reception (they were married in California the week before.) It was such a fun trip!
I took several pics throughout the drive. I want to capture and treasure these years when all of my kiddos are still in my house and still in my van! Love them!
A couple of my kids thought they were so clever hijacking my phone and taking selfies too. Sooooo, I thought I’d share them on the blog. Heh heh.
Aren’t they precious?
The kids had fun catching the ice cream truck at Grandma’s house…
They also loved running around with their cousins and swimming. The baby loved playing with this baseball tee in his cousin’s backyard…
I took these pics of Kev and his brother playing with and flipping some of our kids…
We all had such a great time and enjoyed every second of our quick trip!
I also got a pedicure last week! I thought y’all would like to know. Hee hee. My sweet friend gave me a gift certificate to get one and man oh man, I definitely needed one!
My poor little feet were so neglected and scary (that lighting is not helping their cause either!) It was so nice to get out of the house for a sec and be pampered a little. I love getting pedicures, but hardly ever make time for them!
I also wanted to share some dang cute workout clothes with y’all. I imagine a lot of you guys have heard of Fabletics, the athletic wear company that Kate Hudson is a co-owner of? Well, I love them. Truly I do! I worked with them a couple years back and loved all of the clothes they sent me! Well, I am now an affiliate with them and have been for a while now.
Quick note: I just feel that I should mention that I am extremely picky about what companies and products I choose to share and promote on my blog! I really only share things/companies that I really love and would use myself. I also want to mention that the main purpose of my blog is just to share my passion of health, fitness and happiness! The whole business aspect/make money part of blogging is way down my priority list…for now. When I have a little more time (hopefully when school starts again), I really do hope to grow my blog and become a little more “business-y,” but my main focus/purpose of my blog will always be health, fitness and quality content first……money making will always come second…or third…or forth….!
Soooo, with that being said, when I share a company with all y’all, you can know that I really love them! Soooo, I want to share some cute Fabletics things with you! First of all, they are having a sale right now until July 5th.
You can get your first outfit for only $15! That is an incredible deal! They usually offer the first outfit for $25, which I think is an amazing deal too, but $15 is unbelievable!!! To get that offer, you have to sign up to be a VIP member, but it’s a great, no pressure program.
I am a VIP member and every month they send me emails with new cute outfits. I can choose to order something or not each month. However, I DO have to log in and actually click the button that says “Skip This Month,” otherwise they will charge my card on file and give me a $50 credit to purchase something later.
I just make myself a reminder in my calendar at the beginning of each month to check Fabletics to see if I want anything or click the “Skip this month” button. Simple as that. And, you can cancel anytime. You can seriously get your $15 first outfit and then cancel if you want. There is no pressure and no strings attached. AND, there is always free shipping on your first order, free shipping on all orders over $49 after that and free exchanges.
I think that about sums it up.
Oh, and I have loved all of my Fabletics clothes! They are cute, great quality, wear well and fit great. I recently ordered an outfit that I have loved sooooo much!
This jacket has been my all-time favorite! I bought it a couple months ago and I have to apologize for not sharing it sooner because now I don’t see it on the website! It’s possible it’s not on there because it’s summer though. Maybe it will be back in the fall.
Anyway, this jacket is perfect! It is warm, yet lightweight. It is fitted without being too tight (I ordered a medium) and the sleeves are long enough to let me actually use the thumb holes. I seriously love it so much! I know it looks like a basic jacket, but it is soooo cute in real life. 😉
These capris are also Fabletics (the tank is an old one of my own) and I have loved them so much too!
I love that they are basic and simple (I was in need of some basics!), yet they are still unique and fun. I love the fun little stripe down the side. AND, these capris are still available on the website. Here’s a link if you are interested!
I have really enjoyed Fabletics and hope to share some more cute outfits/items in the near future.
I went on a run with Kev and the baby a couple weeks ago in that outfit…
The weather has been super hot here (upper 90s, 100s) and so I’ve been doing more running on the treadmill instead of outside. However, this particular day was perfect! It was cool and a little rainy….thee perfect running weather! Loved it!
Speaking of running….I took a couple weeks off because I had a weird foot issue. I am so paranoid of getting an injury, so I’ve been very conservative. Anyway, I paid a visit to my local running store and they did a couple running tests on me. They told me that my arch was normal (not too high or too low) and I don’t overpronate or underpronate at all. I was really happy to hear that, although I was hoping they could find a reason for my foot/ankle pain. My foot ankle pain doesn’t seem/feel like a typical running injury, so they suggested I try a more supportive running insole.
So I bought some great Superfeet insoles and I have LOVED them!!! They did cost me $45, which was shocking to me! In fact, when I bought my last insoles ($20 Dr. Scholl’s) online, I saw all of the more expensive insoles available and thought, “Pfffft, who in the world would spend that much money on insoles!??!?”
Well folks, I am now eating crow because I am one of those people. AND, these insoles have made all the difference! Ever since I started running in them, my foot/ankle pain has almost gone away completely. I can still feel it every one in a while, but it is extremely subtle and seems to be going away.
If it stays away and I remain injury/pain free for the long haul, then I will be an “expensive insole lover” forever. Ha!
Well, as far as my other workouts are going….I’m still doing Jessie Hilgenberg’s Bikini Body program and I love it. I have changed a few things to make it my own and I have missed a few workouts….but I just pick it up the next day and keep on going. I’m running about 2-3 times a week as well.
My diet has been all over the place. I was a total pig last weekend during our road trip! It was a lot of fun, but I definitely paid the price. I felt bloated, ill and chubby for days after. Since then, I’ve been trying to count my macros (some days are more successful than others) and I’ve just been trying to eat more real food and less of the crap.
I also decided to do another “no sugar challenge” for a while. Seriously, that is the best thing for me! When I cut most of the sugar out of my diet I feel/look/do so much better! So, I started last Monday and I’m going to stay away from sugary treats until my little sister comes to visit the middle of August (August 10th to be exact.) Sooooo no sugary goodness for me until then! I plan to enjoy lots of our favorite treats when she comes though!
Well, I think that’s enough babbling for today! I really will make an effort to hop on here and blog more often! I love you all. Have a fabulous weekend and if you’re in the USA….enjoy your 4th! Wahoo!

I friggin’ love flash-back photos! Ha Ha! You two look like you haven’t aged much at all!!! I was home this last weekend and the fiance wanted to see some photo albums, so I went back in time too! HAHA! Ridiculous! 😉

I love old pics too! It’s crazy how fast time flies and I don’t really notice it until I look at all the old pics!!

I’ve heard great things about Fabletics! I’m so glad the insoles helped, I had some of those for my walking shoes a while back and LOVED them. I’m staying away from treats again too, after my mini vacation last week it’s for the best. Even fruit is on my shit list right now haha.
Melanie says
The never ending sugar battle! Gah! It sucks and I’m sure I’ll fight it my entire life. I’m not having too much fruit right now either. 🙁
I’m glad to hear you liked those insoles too! I’m so happy they seem to be helping. Woot!
BackatSquare0 (@BackAtSquare0) says
So glad the insoles are helping. Love all the pictures of your kids.
Melanie says
Thanks! I’m so thrilled that the insoles seem to work. Hallelujah!

We are going to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary this summer too. I got my wedding pictures out recently, it was fun looking at them.
I think you guys look great for being 20 years older !
Melanie says
Yay, happy 20th to you guys as well! So fun!

Ugh, I hate running in the heat. I’m such a wuss. This 90+ degree stuff is terrible.
Love your wedding photo. I don’t think you guys have aged a bit.
Melanie says
I seriously CANNOT run in the heat! I literally just fall apart. Although I don’t want summer to end just yet, I can’t wait for the perfect fall running weather!
Thanks for saying we haven’t aged much. Ha ha. I really don’t notice it UNTIL I see pictures!!!
