I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday. I love the weekends SO, SO much! 😉
I’ve been enjoying running OUTSIDE lately! Yay. I told y’all several times about the terrible winter we had. It was just crazy BITTER cold and snowy for about 7 years! I have been so ready for spring!
I have loved being able to run outside again. There’s just something about being outside, breathing the (hopefully) fresh air and getting the endorphins flowing that I just LOVE so much!
It’s also wonderful mental therapy for me as well. I love to just let my mind wander and unwind. I like to think about goals, “to do” lists, meal planning, blogging, inspiration and just life in general. I love it so much. I’ve only been running about twice a week, but it’s just perfect for now.
Last weekend, I went on a run with my 9 year old son (he was on his bike.)
He is such a cutie and I love running with him! He has a ton of energy and never gets worn out. He’s also quite competitive and speeds up every time I start gaining on him. It’s fun and makes for a great run for me as well!
I actually love running with my kids. Sometimes they actually RUN with me, but usually they ride their bikes while I run. I also like to push my two youngest in the double jogger as well.
Yes, it’s a pain in the bum.
Yes, I can’t run as fast as I would like and we have to stop several times!
BUT, there are so many things that I LOVE about running with my kids. I feel like I’m able to kill about 10 birds with one stone. 😉 Here are some of the things I love….
- My kids will know that exercise and healthy living is important to me.
- I’m teaching my kids to make exercise a part of their lives too.
- I get to spend quality time with my cute kiddos.
- We get to be outside and soak up some Vitamin D!
- It’s a whole heckuva lot better than having them sit in front of the TV or computer!
- We are making memories that I (and hopefully) they will cherish forever.
- A lot of times, we stop at the park or go to the gas station to let them pick out a treat (yes a treat is a little counterproductive, but it’s fun!)
- We’re all healthier and happier because of it!
Well that’s all I can come up with for now. I certainly don’t run with my kids all the time, but I try to do it when I have the time and patience.

Today was the first time in awhile that I’ve been able to run outside too. I hate cold weather and today was perfect and warm. On my runs are when I do my best thinking! That’s great that you get your kiddos involved too!
