Well, we took a quick trip down to St. George for the weekend. I love it down there. It’s a fun little touristy town full of palm trees and sun! It’s about 300 miles south of Salt Lake City.
My cute daughter was in a dance competition down there on Friday, so we decided to make a fun family vacation out of it.
We had a lot of fun, but man am I worn out! Kev and I decided that right now family “vacations” are not about rest and relaxation…at all. They are more about quality family time and fun family memories. The kids LOVE traveling, but Kev and I….hmmm…well……let’s just say we “take one for the team!” lol. It is a lot of work to travel with 5 kids! Man.
K, and I pretty much ate like crap the whole weekend long.
Lovely.
I also intended to exercise somehow while we were there. However, I couldn’t quite figure out how to do that and keep the kids entertained in a hotel room at the same time!
Reality bites.
We did have a wonderful weekend though. We packed it full of fun things and had a ball. We went hiking, swimming, saw the movie, The Lorax and visited some pretty awesome Ghost Towns. It was great.
Oh, and the kids LOVED hunting for lizards! They are everywhere down there! The first one they caught, they affectionately named Max. They made a little habitat for him in a cup and kept him in our hotel room overnight. They really wanted to bring him home, but I quickly put the “kibosh” on that! I told them as long as they are living in the same house as me…..there will be no reptiles! I am not a fan….Eeeeee.
Anyway….I thought I would share a bunch of pics from our little trip.
We went hiking at the Red Cliffs Recreation Area. We hiked up to a fun waterfall. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect!
My little “daredevil” 8 year old son decided he wanted to climb up the mountain to get to this little cliff! He gave me a few heart attacks, but was very proud of himself! That’s him in the white at the top!
Here’s how he got up and down the mountain!
Kev helped the big kids get up to this cliff.
I stayed down on the “mainland” with this little cutie. 🙂
The scenery was breathtaking!
We visited the old “Silver Reef” Ghost Town. It was pretty cool.
The old historic “Wells Fargo” building is there. It’s now a museum and full of tons of interesting stuff.
We also visited Grafton, another Ghost town. It was amazing. This is Kev and the kids in front of the old cemetery there. A lot of the people buried there died of disease. There were a few people whose gravestones read “Killed by Indians” and two young girls who died in a “swing accident.
Here’s Kev and the kids in a field at Grafton. It was a very peaceful and serene place full of history! It’s right near Zions National Park.
Here’s the kids and I in front of one of the old houses in Grafton.
Here’s the kids in front of the old schoolhouse and a house in Grafton! I love the history here. Amazing!
Well, that’s our trip in a nutshell. It’s good to be home and I’m happy to be on the “healthy wagon” once again!
Leave a comment....I would love to hear from you!
