We’ve been busy, busy, busy ’round here! But, I’m so happy it’s FRIDAY! Yay.
First off, I’ve decided to do Body for Life! Eeee. I’m really excited and a tad bit really nervous! It’s such a great plan, but I know it will take a lot of commitment and planning. It will be so good for me though. I also thought it would be good for me to do it since I’m already doing my no sugar challenge thing. It’s so much easier to eat well with sugar out of the picture.
The deadline to “officially” join the challenge is this Monday (the 26th), so I’m going to be figuring out meals and food ideas this weekend. I’m also going to be taking my “official” before pic. Oh joy.
I’m really excited to get started though and I’m feeling very motivated and disciplined. Yay.

Well, I’ve had a great week of exercise so far. I’ve already incorporated my version of the Body for Life exercise plan into my routine.
- On Monday I went to the gym for about an hour and just did a bunch of upper body stuff. It was great.
- On Tuesday I went to an evening muscle class. I pretty much worked every muscle in my body. Tuesday is my lower body day and we definitely worked the lower (and entire) body. Awesome.
- On Wednesday I went on a short run with my 9 year old son (I’ll talk about it more in a sec.)
- Yesterday, I went to one of my favorite HIIT-type classes at the gym. I loved it!
- I went on another short run this morning and it was great.
- I will be running The Color Run 5k tomorrow. I’m also planning to head over to the gym for some upper body later that day.
That’s it. I’ve really been enjoying my short little runs. I’m following the Body for Life plan and have been doing very tough 20-30 minute interval runs..
My cute 9 year old is going to be running The Color Run with me (Kev and my daughter are running it too) tomorrow, so he decided to go running with me on Wednesday.
He’s such a trooper. We only ran for about 30 minutes, but it was tough.
We started with a slow, easy jog (~9:30-10:00 minute mile) and then we kicked it up for a couple minutes (~8:00 minute mile). Then we walked for a bit (I would normally just run slow, not walk, but I didn’t want to kill off my son!) We kept doing intervals like that (slower and then faster) and we picked up the pace each time until we sprinted as fast as we could (~5:45 minute mile.)
We were both dead and it was great. Oh, and according to Body for Life, I’m only supposed to run 20 minutes, but I went a little longer since we were walking a bit.
This morning I decided to run on the treadmill and it was so awesome! I followed the Body for Life plan to a T. I started slow and then kept increasing my pace a minute at a time until I thought I was going to die. It was great. I will write up my “official” workout and share it with you guys soon. It ended up being just over 20 minutes and about 2 1/4 miles.
It was such a great workout and I loved that it was only 20 minutes long.

I told you guys we’ve been busy, right? Well, here are some of the things we’ve been doing this week.
On Monday night, we took the kids over to Scheels. It’s such an amazing sporting goods store!! They have every kind of sporting stuff you could ever want. They also have a huge Ferris Wheel, playground for the kids, a taxidermy display full of a bunch of cool animals and a lot of other fun things. We had a ball.
Oh, and ya, I was still in my workout clothes and looked very scary. Eeee.
That’s how I roll!
We had fun on the Ferris Wheel…
And we had fun wandering around and perusing the store. They had so many DANG CUTE (albeit expensive!) workout clothes. I was dying. I was also happy and surprised to see that they carried Handful Bras.
Handful is the best sports bra ever. I love them so much! I must also say that these bras at Scheels were $48! Yikes. BUT, right now Handful is having a huge sale on their website as they are getting rid of the old inventory and transitioning to their Made in the USA inventory. You can get a Handful bra for about $30 on their website right now. Free shipping too. Man. They are sold out of a bunch of sizes, but last I checked they still had quite a few in medium and large sizes.
Anyway, we had a fun night. On the way home, Kev decided that we should get a treat. 🙁 We stopped by Harmon’s grocery store and bought the best sugar cookies ever…
I obviously didn’t have any, but I did enjoy smelling them, lol. They looked heavenly, but I can honestly say it wasn’t too hard for me to resist them. I just don’t even think about it anymore. I know I’m not going to have treats, so I don’t give it a second thought! Simple as that.
I did enjoy a few Goldfish Grahams though. They are so yummy.
I’m sure some people might consider these a treat, but I don’t. The serving size is 35 fish (140 calories, 8 grams of sugar) and I just had a small handful. It was the perfect little sweet treat.

On Wednesday night, we headed up to my parent’s house for a fun family party. We had a great time and it was so much fun to chat with my aunts, uncles, cousins and of course, siblings. Love them!
There was a lot of yummy food around, including all of these treats…
Ya, chocolate cake, ice cream, brownies and a basket full of goodies!
Of course, I didn’t have any. Yay. When the party was over, my mom sent my sister and I home with a bunch of the leftovers and some of the random treats she had….
I just gotta say that my mom is the sweetest lady ever. I’m not kidding guys. She is a saint and everyone who knows her, loves her. I’ve never heard her raise her voice in my life except for once (and it was a good reason!) She is an amazing example to me and I feel so blessed to have her as my mom.
I love my sissy too.
We were a little hyper (or maybe it was just me!) We had fun laughing and taking pics of our random treats.
Of course, I didn’t eat any of those either. Treats are everywhere!

I told you guys that I made Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner Tuesday night. I love them so much!
I’ve been having the leftovers for lunch every day since and I’m not sick of them yet!
They are super good, filling and full of veggies. Love it.
Well, Kev and I are getting ready to head out on a quick date, so I better end this. I did want to mention one more fun thing though. One of my Chocolate Mug Cake recipes was featured on Skinnymom.com this week.
She featured my recipe along with 7 other healthy desserts. They all look awesome too.
I must say that my picture is the lamest out of all of the treats featured though! It’s pretty pathetic. Sigh. I took that pic a million years ago and I think I’ve learned a thing or two about photography since then. It’s still a very yummy treat though!
Well, we’re heading out so I better run. I hope you all have a wonderful night!! xoxo
