A Great Workout, Random Food, Squarebars and a Fun Party!

January 15, 201423 Comments

Hey everyone!  Since I haven’t been blogging as often as I usually do, I have a lot to share!

First off, I’m happy to say I’ve been feeling pretty good the past couple days.  I still feel nauseous 24/7 from the pregnancy, but I’ve been feeling pretty “normal” as far as the weird neurological stuff goes.  Yay!  I’m hoping it will stay that way. 😉

If I continue to feel okay, I might even venture out to the gym next week.  I’ve really missed it.  I’ve been enjoying working out from home, but I just wish I had more equipment. 🙁

My cute ten year old son has been working out with me most days and it’s been fun.  He’s very competitive and really pushes me.  He’s also been reminding me that we need to “do our workout” every day.  I love it.

I’ve been coming up with some really great workouts that have absolutely killed me!  Here’s a fun one I did with my son a couple nights ago that I loved.  I’m still so sore from it….

2 Minute Intervals Workout Back and Chest

I’ve been trading off what body part(s) I focus on each time I workout and I always try to incorporate some cardio in as well.  This workout took us about 45 minutes and we were both absolutely dying!

Interesting Food

I have the weirdest appetite ever right now.  It’s kind of annoying.  Usually nothing sounds good to me, so I just try to come up with things that don’t sound too gross.  I’ve been having peanut butter toast for breakfast the past couple mornings and it’s been perfect.  I’ve also been enjoying this for breakfast or lunch lately too…

My yogurt, fruit, granola creation

It’s just a container of Chobani yogurt (usually Raspberry or Pomegranate flavor) topped with bananas, blueberries, chia seeds and KIND Peanut Butter Clusters.  It’s very yummy and soothing to my tummy. 🙂

I made tacos for dinner tonight, but they sounded SO DANG GROSS to me!  Blah.  I decided to make them anyway because my kids love them and they’re easy to make.  Here’s a pic of my daughter’s taco…

Tacos for my family

Blah.  This is what I came up with for MY dinner…

Bananas, strawberries and cheese

Ya, I’m totally weird.  I had a sliced banana topped with shredded cheese (it’s SO GOOD I promise!) and some strawberry slices on the side.  Fruit has been one thing that always sounds good to me.

I made some heavenly Chicken Stew in the Crock-Pot for dinner yesterday.  It’s such a wonderful, easy, “comfort foody” meal that I love.

In fact, I had the leftovers for lunch today.  Yum.

I’ll share the recipe soon.  It’s a good one.

Yummy Squarebars, Organic Protein Bars

I was recently sent some YUMMY protein bars and a dang cute t-shirt that I really love.  They’re called Squarebars and they are so good!

Squarebar Package

I have to say, it took me a couple weeks to try these protein bars because the thought of trying anything new made me want to hurl (because I’ve been so sick.)  However, I finally decided to give them a try and they are fabulous!  They actually taste like a treat.

They come in three flavors; Cocoa Almond, Cocoa Coconut and Cocoa Crunch and I love all three of them!  I’m a HUGE fan of almond and coconut flavored things and the Cocoa Crunch one has little Rice Krispie type things in them that are wonderful.

Squarebars

They’re also covered in chocolate (good, yummy chocolate….not plastic, fake tasting chocolate!) which I love…

Coconut Squarebar

They’re about 200-220 calories and have 11-12 grams of protein.  They’re also made from organic, Non-GMO ingredients and are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, peanut-free and corn-free!  They’re all-natural, vegan and contain no refined sugar.  Awesome.  They really appeal to a lot of different types of diets out there.

And did I mention they taste great!?  Well, they do.  They’re also having a sale on their site right now too.  25% off + free shipping.  Cool!  Oh, and I love the cute t-shirt.  I think it will be one of my favs, at least for the next month or so (until I increase in size, lol!)

Me in my Squarebar shirt

Oh, and in case you’re wondering I think I’ve gained 2 pounds so far with this pregnancy.  My weight has gone up and down, but it’s starting to settle in about 2 pounds up lately. 🙁  I still fit in all my clothes and feel like I look about the same.  I’m almost 10 weeks along, so I’m not expecting to see much of a change yet anyway.

Some Great Old Navy Bargains!

I bought myself some DANG CUTE things at Old Navy the other day.  They’re having a 40% off all Active Wear sale right now, so I decided to splurge a bit.  I also ordered everything online and they were having a “take an additional 15% off deal” and I also had $15 in Old Navy rewards to use too.  Score.  Here are some of the things I got…

My Old Navy bargains

I thought those two tops would be perfect for an old pregnant lady like me. 😉  I’ve actually seen a lot of ladies at the gym wearing these exact tops (in various colors) and they’re very flattering.  I think they’ll be perfect for me the next couple months and then again after I have the baby.  Heck, I think they’ll be cute anytime too!

I’ll take some pics of me wearing these things soon so you can see what ya think.  Oh, and I got the cute blue capris for $10.43, the grey tank for $5.80 and the pink tank for $3.48!!??  Awesome, right?

I think so.

A Fun Party

I also wanted to tell you guys about a fun party we went to over the weekend.  It was our annual neighborhood White Elephant Christmas party and it’s always a blast.  We usually have it between Christmas and New Years, but this year we pushed it off a couple weeks to accommodate some schedules.

Here’s the group…

Our fun neighborhood Christmas party

I love these peeps and always have SO MUCH FUN with all of them.  We laughed and laughed and laughed all night long!  Oh, and Kev was there too…he was just taking the picture. 😉

I have to share what Kev and I got to take home from the White Elephant gift exchange…

Our White Elephant Gift

A VHS titled “What Every Man (and woman) Should Know About Erectile Dysfunction” along with some killer perfume and cologne and some blue and green “pills.”

Too funny!  There were so many hilarious gifts!  Oh and in case you’re wondering, Kev and I brought some hideous dog slippers that looked just like my dog Jimmer (they were quite disturbing) along with some Avon soap sculpture people that smelled just like a grandma and a “do-rag.”  Random, yes.

A couple people brought some “Poo-pourri,” which was hilarious.  If you haven’t heard of “Poo-pourri” before, I think you need to watch this video…

You’re welcome.

Well, I need to go to bed now.  I hope you are all doing well!!

OMG hilarious!! Those gifts are too funny! Oh I literally laughed out loud at cheese on banana…but I totally remember how nothing sounded good to me either when pregnant. It was awful. I only wanted hot dogs! Which thank God I wasn’t vegan back then , lol! Speaking of which, I love that those bars are vegan! They sound delish!

I’m always wanting new workouts to do during my lunch hour at work – this looks like another great way to have! Ok — banana and cheese? Is this something you did pre-pregnancy?? I cannot even imagine! haha

I hope you enjoy the workout! I know, the banana and cheese is SOOOO WEIRD, but it’s really good and I’ve been having it since I was a kid! LOL!

Major kudos to you for continuing to work out while nauseous. I couldn’t do it. I can commiserate with the odd food issues too. I would make a ‘normal’ meal for my husband and daughter and then find something for myself that was more appealing. I had such a problem with meat during both my pregnancies.

It’s been so tough to workout while feeling so sick. Blah. I’m not working out nearly as much as I would like though. Food is definitely not my friend right now either. I can’t wait until I have a normal appetite again!

I know, it’s so weird. One of my friends actually came up with the combination when we were little kids. It’s surprisingly so good!

I have the same problem all the time! I’m hungry but NOTHING sounds good so I just start to put whatever I find in my kitchen together in a bowl. Sometimes you just have to go with your instincts! That being said, I’ve never tried cheese on a banana before!

Ha ha! I know cheese and banana is so strange, but it is really so yummy! Several of my kids actually love it too and ask me to fix it for them often. I’ve been having it since I was a little kid, so I think I’ve forgotten how weird it really is. 😉

Thats really an amazing blog. Good that the protein bar comes in three different flavors. Here is what I came across: http://papasteves.com/ which is Papa Steve’s protein bars, an healthy alternative to a protein bar that is made of non gmo ingredients, its gluten free, tastes great and its perishable.

For this particular workout, I didn’t make a video or take pictures….so sorry! You can Google the names of each exercise and find plenty of examples online though. I wish you all the best!
