Hey guys!
You know how sick I’ve been, right? AND, you know how I said I’m pretty much eating whatever sounds good, but I’m just trying not to be a pig?
Well folks, today I was a PIG!
It wasn’t pretty. I feel like I’ve eaten all….day….long.
I seriously hope my appetite chills out tomorrow. It’s weird because most food sounds disgusting to me, but I’m still so hungry. It’s so so strange. I’ve also learned if I go too long without eating, I feel extra terrible. Blah.
I think I have a tapeworm.
On a brighter note, I did get my hair cut today! Hallelujah! It was badly needed.
I snapped this picture on the drive home (stopped at a stop light! ), while eating my Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, lol!
By the way, I think Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches are absolutely amazing. LOVE them!
Oh and FYI, my friend Judy does my hair and has been doing my hair for over 10 years now!
I love her SO MUCH and always love my cuts and colors. Her prices are very reasonable too. Soooo, if you’re in Utah (she’s in Lindon) and are looking for a new stylist, give Judy a call at (401) 837 2371. You won’t regret it.
A Great Movie
Well, I want to tell you guys about an interesting movie Kev and I saw the other night. We were able to see a Press Screening of the movie, Gimme Shelter, which will be in theaters starting tomorrow; Friday, January 24th.
It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Rosario Dawson, James Earl Jones, Brendan Fraser and many other talented actors. Here’s a brief synopsis…
Based on a true story, GIMME SHELTER is the story of a young girl named Apple (Vanessa Hudgens) who, after running away from an abusive home environment, moves in with her wealthy, wall street father (Brendan Frasier). Soon after moving in to her new home, Apple discovers that she is with child. After being given a grim ultimatum by her father, Apple runs away and is almost killed before being saved by a kind priest (James Earl Jones) who gives her chance at the life – and the family – she never knew could be hers.
I gotta say it is an extremely heavy and thought provoking story. It’s not your typical lighthearted comedy or gripping thriller. It’s just a heart wrenching true story that really opened my eyes and made me think…a lot. It also made me cry several times. It was really touching.
I also thought Vanessa Hudgens did a phenomenal job! She did not look cute….at all, and y’all know how beautiful she usually is! I was really impressed with her as an actor.
I also thought Rosario Dawson did a wonderful job as her mother! She looked amazingly creepy and completely pulled off the whole “drug addicted, messed up mom” role.
I also LOVED seeing James Earl Jones again. He did such a great job as the loving priest and and I just love him so much as an actor. Isn’t he darling?
This movie definitely made me extremely grateful for the life I take for granted.

Some Great Food
I want to share a very yummy and extremely easy meal I made for dinner yesterday. I bought these extra thin Boboli Pizza Crusts at Costco about a month ago…
They’ve been in my freezer and I finally decided to make them for dinner! I’m happy to say I really loved this pizza crust and ALL my kids loved it too!
But, the best part is it made dinner flippin’ easy and is only 180 calories for 1/4 of the crust (2 slices.) Yes, it’s much healthier to make your own crust from scratch, but you can’t beat the simplicity of this meal.
I made a cheese and pepperoni pizza for the kids and I made this pizza for me…
I topped it with Turkey Pepperoni, peppers, onions and olives. Loved it!
I also served it with a very YUMMY salad that I’m now obsessed with.
When I went to my doctor appointment the other day, the lady who took my blood was eating a salad that looked so good. I asked her about it and she told me she chops up a bunch of lettuce in her food processor and then chops up a bunch of veggies and fruit separately in her food processor. She also said she throws nuts, seeds, craisins, etc. on her salad too.
It sounded so good to me, so I decided to try it out! I chopped up some Iceburg and Red Leaf lettuce in my food processor and then ran it through my salad spinner. Note: I never buy Iceburg lettuce because it has absolutely no nutritional value, but I was craving the crunch, so I decided to buy it anyway!
I have to say I wasn’t a huge fan of food processor chopped lettuce. It kind of killed it. I think next time, I’ll just chop it myself.
I WAS a huge fan of the chopped fruit and veggies though! I threw some carrots, celery, orange peppers and apple in the food processor and it was so simple…
I topped my lettuce with the chopped veggies/apple mixture and then threw some sliced almonds and craisins on top. It was absolutely heavenly.
In fact, I decided to have it for lunch today too. I threw some chicken on there as well.
YUM, yum, yum, yum, YUM! This is my new favorite salad. I have the leftover lettuce in a container in my fridge and the chopped veggies/apple in a separate container.
I can now make an incredibly tasty salad in 2 seconds flat. Love it.
Well, that’s all folks. Tomorrow is Friday. YIPPEE!

UGH!!!! You’re still not feeling better?!!?!? That is the WORST! And okay, you cannot call yourself a PIG – YOU’RE PREGNANT! Of course you’re going to eat more than normal! You need it to keep your energy levels UP so you can tackle the day of course and when you’re sick, your body is burning even MORE energy, give yourself some slack here! lol. I hope you have a phenomenal, restful weekend so you can GET BACK TO HEALTHY 🙂

No tape worm – just a sweet baby!!!
Your hair cut looks great but then I always think you are gorgeous!! (your bad day is better than my good ones!)
That movie sounds like one that I will have to check out – probably not till it comes out on DVD though.
Melanie says
Thanks so much; you’re so sweet!

Your hair looks amazing! Honestly I know you keep saying you don’t feel well but you just look so great I would never know! Also, you definitely have a tapeworm…a tapeworm that is actually a real human being! You definitely are only eating what your body needs!
I love Boboli crusts but I have never tried the ultra thin ones. Also, salad in the food processor is genius!
Melanie says
You are so sweet. Yes, it’s been so tough being so sick, yet so hungry at the same time! I am counting down the days until I feel well and have a real appetite again!

Sounds like a touching movie. I’ll have to put that on my list. I still haven’t seen The Butler which is also on my list of films. I think baby is hungry!
Melanie says
Oh, I LOVED the Butler! That one is definitely a must see.

I just saw a preview for that movie last night, but had not heard about it before. Looks interesting, I love movies based on true stories.
Melanie says
I love movies based on true stories too. This movie is very heavy and “real”, but I liked it.

I love your hair! That movie looks really intense but also really amazing. I find that I have to be in the right mood for movies like that, but they’re so worth watching! And that pizza looks AMAZING. I have a serious love for pizza and it pretty much always sounds good to me. I hope you start to feel better soon! But I’m sure it’ll all be worth it when you get to hold your baby!
Melanie says
Thanks so much! I could seriously eat pizza every day too. 😉 I can’t wait until I feel better. It is so hard, but I know it’s SOOOO worth it!

I love the idea of putting the fruit and veg in a food processor – especially for carrot since they aren’t my favorite – plus such a time saver! Love it! Since I’m just reading this – I wish tomorrow was Friday….boo!!
Melanie says
I wish tomorrow was Friday too, dang it. I really loved the whole fruit and veggies in the food processor too. Works like a charm. 😉
