Living a healthy lifestyle and losing weight is TOUGH! But, as we all know it’s very rewarding and SO worth it.
However, sometimes I lack motivation and willpower. Sometimes, I just want to throw in the towel, eat all my favorite (sugary, salty, fatty, yummy) foods and sit on my bum and do nothing. 😉
Thankfully, these “throw in the towel” moments don’t seem to last too long. I quickly come back to reality and remember how much I LOVE to live, eat and BE healthy! But, because I know how tough it is to be healthy ALL THE TIME, I always look for things/people that inspire and motivate me! It really helps to keep me going.
Soooo, with that being said, here’s a little bit of inspiration for you all!
#1. An Inspiring Song.
You all know how much I love music. ALL KINDS of music! Fast, upbeat songs with a motivating message really help me during a hard run or workout. Also, slow, deep, heartfelt songs inspire me to work hard, be better and live life to the fullest! LOVE IT!
Well, last weekend Kev and I attended an event and we heard the most amazing performance of “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. From the very first note to the very last, I was absolutely speechless. I love love love Les Mis and this guy’s voice was killer. His name is Dallyn Vail Bayles and all I can say is WOW!
Soooo, I searched on the internet and found a video of him singing Bring Him Home! Yay! Of course, I’ll share it with all y’all. Quick note: When we saw him, he was not sporting this funky beard (I think he’s chanelling his inner Jean Valjean.) 😉
Love it!! I think I need to listen to it again…and again…and again. Kev teases me that I have a crush on him now! Lol!
#2. An Inspiring Friend.
I am very blessed to have many friends and family members who inspire me and make me want to be a better person. A couple weeks ago, one of my favorite friends came to visit me. She and I became friends while we were living in New Hampshire. She was here in Utah visiting family and was able to stop by my house to chat for a little bit.
Her name is Kelly and she is such an inspiration to me! First off, she is an amazing runner! She’s run several marathons, relay races, 20 milers, etc. She also just qualified for Boston and will be running it this spring!
She is also a very fit and healthy person. A couple years ago she lost over 20 pounds and went from a size 14 to a size 6! She is a “skinny mini” strong and healthy lady! While she was losing the weight, she also kept an amazing blog. I learned so much from it and it really inspired me. She said I could share her blog with you all. It’s http://run-kelly-run.blogspot.com/ Love it.
I’m so grateful for Kelly’s wonderful friendship and example. I just hope she is able to move closer to ME someday soon!!
#3. Inspiring Stories.
I love to read weight loss success stories! It is so motivational to me to see the before and after pictures and hear about all the changes they’ve made in their lives.
Weight loss is so much more than just losing weight and looking thin. It completely changes people’s lives and that’s what is so motivational to me! With that being said, I thought I would share a couple success stories I’ve stumbled across lately.
Look at this lady!
Holy COW! Her name is Kristi Youngdahl and she lost 85 pounds! Her story was published in Oxygen Magazine. You can click here to read it. Talk about inspiring!!
I also saw another success story I thought I would share. I could not figure out how to just paste the picture in here and link to the article. You have to click on the image below to access the article (sorry!) It’s also from Runner’s World South Africa (I couldn’t get the USA version!) What the heck???
ANYWAY, after you click on this article, look at the bottom right hand corner and you will see the story I’m talking about. It’s a boyfriend and girlfriend and together they lost 190 pounds! They look fantastic!
So, there ya go. A little bit of inspiration!
Now, go listen to some inspiring music while hanging out with inspiring people while reading some inspiring stories, K?
