A Rough Weekend + Fun Exercise!

May 7, 20134 Comments

Well guys, I’m still pluggin’ along with the little diet I’m doing.  I’m loving it, but am sorry to say I completely fell apart over the weekend!

Ya, I’m lame.

I was doing so well and then my sweet, supportive husband brought THESE home on Saturday morning…

Donuts!

DUN, DUN, DUNNNN!

You see that chocolate one right in the middle?  Ya, that’s my favorite kind.  How rude, right?

Well, I was so strong most of the day despite the donuts and then…..I caved!!

Dang it.

Ya know, this diet is freaking hard.  So, when you put a hungry, deprived girl around donuts there is bound to be trouble!

Unfortunately, I had a few more indiscretions over the weekend before I shaped up again.  So lame.

BUT, I’m NOT giving up!

I’m sorry to say I haven’t lost any more weight though.  I’m still holding at the 3 pound weight loss.  I’m sure it would have been more by now if I hadn’t had so many issues over the weekend!  Auuughh.

On a brighter note, I have some fun exercise things to share with you guys!  First off, I received this fun little DVD in the mail….

Adventure to Fitness DVD

It’s an exercise DVD for kids from Adventure to Fitness.com and it is so cute!  The DVD includes three different adventures; Colonial Chaos, Dino Disaster and Maple Mayhem.  My kids enjoyed all of them, but I think the dinosaur one was their favorite.  The host, Mr. Marc, takes the kids on fun interactive adventures where the kids run, jump, duck, climb etc.  It’s really cute.

Here are some pics of my two littlest kiddos (ages 5 and 3) doing the video;

They loved it so much that as soon as my daughter got home from school, they recruited her to do it with them too…

And, they wanted to do it again first thing this morning…

My five year old was still in his jammies!  Even the dog wanted to join in, lol.

Here’s a fun preview of the Dino Disaster one that my kids enjoyed so much…

I really love companies that advocate health and fitness, especially for kids!  So, I’ve really enjoyed this DVD.  You can get more information at www.adventuretofitness.com.

I have another fun exercise thing to talk about too….

Tribesports is a wonderful site full of great workouts, challenges, fitness ideas and a wonderful support group.

Tribesports

I’ve done a lot of their workouts and I love them!  They are tough and effective, but can usually be done fairly quickly.  I love to do the workouts on crazy days when I don’t have a lot of time or sometimes I’ll add one of the workouts at the end of a run or something.

Anyway, I did one of these fun workouts on Saturday and I thought I would share it with y’all.  It’s called the Stadium Sprint Circuit Workout.

The workout goes like this….

Run up and down some stadium stairs, 1 minute of push-ups, run the stairs again, 1 minute of squat thrusts, run the stairs again, 1 minute of bicycle crunches, run the stairs again and then do 1 minute of tricep dips.  You’re supposed to do 3 rounds of this, but even one round is a great, quick workout.

We don’t have a stadium close to us, so I decided to run a hill at a nearby park instead.

The hill isn’t very big, but it IS steep!  I ran up and down the hill 3 times and considered it equivalent to running one set of stadium stairs.

I ended up doing 40-50 pushups each round (I did a lot of them on my knees!)

I did 25-35 squat thrusts each round and they just about killed me!

I did about 50 bicycle crunches each round…

I did about 25-35 tricep dips (some with added weight, lol)

Then I did it all again!  It was a great workout and I LOVED being outside.  I brought my 12 year old daughter/photographer and 3 year son along too.  They loved it and my daughter took great care of her brother at the playground nearby while I finished my workout…

Tribesports has a bunch of other great workouts too!  They are perfect on those days when I want to change it up a bit and take a break from the “same ‘ol, same ‘ol.”  I love it!

Well, that’s it!  Until next time….keep on keeping on!

AdventureToFitness.com sent me the complimentary DVD, but the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Melanie… I know you have a weight you like to be at, but honestly, I think the reason you are not losing more is because you do not need to! You are super skinny and look like you are in great shape. We all have goals for ourselves, but don’t beat yourself up. It is more important to have an enjoyable life!

Thanks so much for your outlook. I definitely agree with you that it’s more important to have an enjoyable life! I would really like to lose 10 more pounds, but I think I also want to have my cake and eat it too, lol!
