I’m still lovin’ Body For Life.
To me, it’s just a very practical way of living. It’s a healthy, sensible diet and a manageable exercise plan. I love it. Yes, it takes commitment and planning, but I’m a lot more successful at healthy living when I have a set purpose or “plan.”
I haven’t lost any weight at all though. None. Nada. I’ve decided my body is psycho.
I’ve been doing my “No Sugar Challenge” for 29 days now and I love it. I’ve been following the Body For Life exercise plan for almost two weeks and the diet plan the past 4 days. I also ate very well all last week.
The scale has not budged. Yes it’s frustrating, but I’m not going to quit! I know I’m doing good for my body regardless of what the scale says. I’ve also learned that sometimes my body just clings to weight and then after a while it drops several pounds at once.
I’m waiting patiently for that. I’ll let you know how it goes.
BUT, even though I haven’t lost any weight, I definitely feel a little bit stronger and leaner.
I just feel good.
That makes me happy. I’ve also been comforting myself by thinking I’m gaining muscle and losing fat and that is why the scale isn’t movin.’
I hope that’s the truth. 😉

I’ve been lovin’ my English Muffin Egg Sandwich for breakfast. It is so good! This morning I decided to change it up slightly…
I scrambled 1 egg + 4 egg whites and topped them with a little shredded cheese (probably a tablespoon) and some low sugar ketchup. I toasted my English Muffins in the toaster and then sprayed them with a little olive oil and crisped them up in a pan. I LOVED them!
I will definitely be having this tomorrow too. 😉
I had oatmeal for my morning snack today and yesterday. I love it and it’s so comforting and filling. I made my Peanut Butter Chocolate Oatmeal yesterday and enjoyed it out on the deck while reading the newspaper circular…
It’s not a good idea to look at pictures of yummy, yet terrible food when trying to eat well!
Oh, and I’m debating what I want to splurge on for my “Free Day” this week. I saw those Red Robin onion rings and they looked so good! I love onion rings, but I never eat them. I might have them once every 2-3 years. But, that coupon is good for a free order…..hmmm. What to do???
Oh and BTW, according to Body for Life, you’re allowed one “Free Day” a week and can eat whatever you want! However, I’ve decided to just let myself have one “Free Meal” and maybe a few small snacks throughout the day.
I don’t want to go crazy and I still want to eat well.
The book says (and I agree) that it’s good for the psyche to splurge once in a while. It actually helps people to stick with a “healthy lifestyle” long-term if they know they can have a little splurge on the weekend or something. The book also says it may be good physiologically as well; it let’s your body know it’s not starving and that it doesn’t need to cling onto fat “just in case.”
Makes sense to me!
I’m still not going to have any treats, candy, etc. though because of my sugar challenge thing. 😉
Anyway, I’ve been having a protein shake of some sort every day too. I drank this one on the way to the gym Tuesday…
It was just my typical Chocolate Protein Milkshake with a little almond extract mixed in. It’s great!
We had a crazy night last night, so I just threw a pot roast and some carrots in the Crock Pot. It turned out awesome. I made a side salad that consisted of a bunch of stuff that needed to be used up (romaine, cabbage mix, kidney beans, red bell pepper, green onions, olives and a little feta cheese.) I also pulled out some homemade rolls from the freezer for the kids.
This meal was super easy and I’m sure I’ll be using my Crock Pot a lot more now that school is in session.
Last night, I had some Protein Pudding for a late night snack and it was so good!
I used Fat Free plain Fage yogurt in this and it was wonderful; super rich and creamy! Loved it!

I’ve been stickin’ to my exercise plan this week too. Yesterday was my cardio day and I did my 20 minutes on the treadmill. I love it because it’s a crazy hard workout, but it’s only 20 minutes. Yay.
That’s one of the reasons I told you guys I think this plan is just a “practical way of living.” Yes, you workout 6 days a week, but the workouts are short, yet effective! Love it.
Here’s the treadmill plan I’ve been following…
When I got to 9 and 10 mph, I could barely do it. It was crazy, but I just reminded myself that it was only for one minute.
This workout is great and goes by so quickly. Because I kept changing the speed every minute, it kept my mind off of the workout.
Well, I better run. I gotta run a few errands before my big kids get home from school. I also need to figure out what to do with all of these…
I think I’ll make some dried pears and some pear leather! I will share my “recipes” with all of you, of course!
Have a great night. It’s Friday Eve! Woohoo.

Your pot roast is making me drool. Looks delicious. I agree with the Body For Life philosophy, a little splurge sometimes keeps me on track. Do you want to lose weight? You look so strong and healthy now.

I really love Body for Life. Yes, I’ve been trying to lose the last 10 pounds for about a year now. I’m within my healthy weight range now, but I would really love to tone up and lean out. We’ll see. Ultimately, I just love living a healthy lifestyle and know my weight will settle in where it wants to. 😉

My weight does the same thing. Even worse, my weight will occasionally decide to go up, which makes me look for the nearest bridge to jump off of. I’ve been working on breaking up with the scales, though, so I’m doing a bit better about not freaking out over the weight changes (or lack thereof).
As a note, I thought that coupon said “scratch and sniff” and I was like..OMG I would inhale the paper!!

I’ve had my weight go up for no reason at all too. It’s so tough. I always tell my husband he is so lucky as far as weight loss goes; women have so many other hormonal issues and things to deal with! Ha ha, I would die if that coupon was scratch and sniff too!!

A couple of things, weight training doesn’t provide weight loss in the same way that cardio does. It just doesn’t burn enough calories. It’s still very important though and here is why. The goal of weight training should be (man or woman) to ultimately put more muscle on your body. This is a slow process but an important one. That extra muscle will allow your body to be more effective at burning fat when dieting. It takes time to put on muscle though. Gradual progression is key here. Be sure to add weight once the sets and reps of a current exercise becomes easy. Keep challenging yourself and you’ll be fine. Remember focus progression and peformance and the body will follow!

Thanks for the tips!
