Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. 🙂
On Friday night, Kev and I went to see the movie Ender’s Game with some friends of ours.
It was very well done and I absolutely loved Harrison Ford and the kid who played Ender (Asa Butterfield.) However, it was kind of hard to follow at times and I felt a little bit lost throughout the movie. It was still entertaining and worth watching; I just wish I would’ve read the book first.
Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, Kev and I really love to see movies on the weekend. 😉 It’s so nice to spend time together, watch a great movie and get a break from the world for a bit.
On Saturday morning, I went to my typical crazy class. I even snapped a quick stealthy picture for you guys…
I look a little psycho, hee hee. But, it was a great class as usual!
I’m always amazed at how challenging that class is! When it’s over, I always feel a mix of emotions. It’s usually a little bit of disbelief and horror (I can’t believe I just put my body through that!) mixed with elation and triumphancy (holy crap, I can’t believe I actually survived!)
Ya….it’s killer. I love it and for some reason I keep going back for more!
I spent the rest of my Saturday relaxing a bit and cleaning and de-junking my house. We also decided to take the kiddos out to dinner at Chick-fil-A that night.
I just have to say that I LOVE Chick-fil-A SOOOO much! I’ve decided it’s my favorite fast food restaurant….hands down.
I ordered an 8-piece chicken nugget (the yummiest and most “real” nuggets out there!) with a side salad.
I topped my salad with a little Berry Balsamic Vinaigrette and it was so good! I also ordered a fresh squeezed diet lemonade and I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
Can ya tell I’m a little enthusiastic about Chick-Fil-A?
Anyway, I calculated my meal to be 460 calories, 21 grams of fat (dang it) and 33 grams of protein. Not too bad.
BUT, I think I’m hormonal or something because I HAVE BEEN SO HUNGRY and have been wanting to eat every carb in sight!
It is so not good.
Soooo, after I finished my nice reasonable Chick-Fil-A meal, I decided to help the kids finish some of their food too. Ya, I was a pig, but it was very tasty.
Needless to say, I rolled out of Chick-Fil-A very stuffed and satisfied. A perfect way to end my Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, we awoke to this….
SNOW! I actually kind of liked it too. We had a nice, lazy, cozy morning. I also loved that it was Daylight Savings so we could have an extra hour to be lazy and cozy.
So fun.
I put a pork roast in the Crock Pot in the morning, so we could have Pulled Pork sandwiches after church. I also made a healthy coleslaw and roasted some veggies too.
Everything tasted so good and ALL of my kids ate it….without complaining! Woo hoo.
I will share all the recipes with you guys later on this week.
Last night, Kev and the kids also requested that I make some Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Auuughhh….yuuuuum….auuughh!
That is me professing my love of chocolate chip cookies while at the same time venting my frustration that I can’t eat them!
I only have 4 1/2 days until this “100 days without sugar (essentially just treats)” is over!! Believe me when I say I’m counting down the days….hours….minutes and seconds!
Anyway, it was SO HARD for me not to eat the cookies or cookie dough last night (remember I’m having hormonal “I want to eat everything in sight” problems?), but I STAYED strong.
It took every once of willpower I had. Here I am “pretending” to eat the cookie dough….
It made me feel a little better. Oh and no, I did not just rob a bank. That “cute” outfit I’m wearing is my typical “lazy and cozy” Sunday evening attire. It’s my fav.
The kids and Kev enjoyed the cookies and it made me happy anyway….
Well that’s our weekend in a nutshell!
I have one more bit of exciting news to share. My Healthy Chocolate Mug Cake recipe was mentioned in an article by Women’s Health Magazine online recently.
The article was titled, “5 Healthy Dishes You Can Make in Your Microwave,” and my recipe was one of the five mentioned. How nice huh? It made my day.
You can click here to check out the article if you want, or you can click on the picture below to check out my recipe.
It’s really a yummy (and healthy!) recipe. I may just need to make it since I’m having such a “hungry” and “carb-y” problem right now.
Oh, and I’m looking forward to going to my Boot Camp class in a couple hours. I’m so excited because my instructor, who’s been gone because of an injury for the past 3 months, is back again! Yay.
I gotta go pick up the kiddos from school, so I better jam!
I hope you all have a great day! xoxo

Your Saturday morning class looks like it must be similar to Body Pump – nice!!
And – huge congrats to the magazine article – AWESOME!!!

It’s similar to Body Pump, but our instructor is an animal! It’s more like Body Pump on steroids, lol! Thanks so much for the congrats about the article. It was so fun for me! 😉

I loooove Chick fil A too! It’s so good! There aren’t any in my entire state, which is really, really sad.

So many things I want to comment on! Glad to hear your comments on enders game. My bf is obsessed with the book and is making me see it this weekend (not really my style) so I’ll be sure to have him fill me in on the deets before we go see it.
SNOW ah! Even before us Canadians! I’m impressed. Though I can’t say I’m looking forward to it here.
I love how balanced you are. Fast food and home cooking and workouts all in one weekend. You’re amazing and I’m so impressed!
Melanie says
I hope you enjoy Ender’s game and that it makes a little more sense to you than it did to me! 😉 I know, I’m not quite ready for winter yet, but I guess it’s comin’ whether I like it or not! Thanks so much for your comment….we had a great weekend!

I read Ender’s Game and haven’t seen the movie yet. My mom said it was a pretty good representation of the book because there are limitations as to what they could actually do in the movie. Prime example: In the book, Ender goes from about 8 to 15 in age. They can’t really do that in one movie, unless they go all Harry Potter on it. 😉
Also, I love Chick-fil-A nuggets with their honey mustard! For some reason, though, they give me the worst heartburn ever. Thus, I stay away from them.
Have a marvelous Wednesday. By my count, you should be on like, one day left minus sweets! Whew, right? 😀
Melanie says
I think you’ll love the movie if you’ve already read the book. I thought it was really well done. 😉 I’m sorry Chick-fil-A nuggets give you heartburn. So sad! 🙁 They are my favorite. My sugar challenge ends on Friday, so I’m free to eat sweets on Saturday! Can’t wait. 😉

You are so funny! The reason you’re starving is because of all your crazy, awesome workouts and burning all those calories!! Congrats on your recipe in Women’s Health girl! That is super awesome! Yay! 🙂
Melanie says
Thanks so much! Thankfully the appetite has chilled out a bit. 😉 It makes me feel better to think it might be maybe sorta kinda caused from all of my exercise though!
