Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday! I had a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend. On Friday, Kev came home from work with these…
They were absolutely gorgeous and this picture doesn’t do them justice at all. I told Kev they looked more like a small tree instead of flowers because they were so huge.
I loved them so much and it definitely made me feel loved.
Later on, Kev and I went to see the movie, Heaven is For Real.
It was a darling show and made me cry more than one time. It didn’t help that the little boy in the movie reminded me SO MUCH of my two little boys.
It was a really good, clean, family friendly movie, which is so refreshing these days. We had a great night.

On Saturday morning, we took the family to visit Timpanogos Cave. It’s such an amazing cave, but you have to take a mile and a half hike to get to it. The hike is quite strenuous and very steep the whole way. It was fun though and a pretty dang good workout.
My entire lower body, especially my shins and calves have been so sore. Yay!
While we were hiking up the trail, my cute four year old looked very determined and was huffin’ and puffin’ and swinging his arms. He kept saying, “Don’t give up!” It just about melted my heart. Kev ended up carrying him most of the way because it was such a tough hike.
The hike is also very beautiful! We took plenty of amazingly scenic pictures. I loved it!
When we arrived at the cave, a tour guide lead us in and through the cave. To get inside the cave, you go into a small tunnel and open a cute little door….
I loved it and it made me feel just like a Hobbit.
We only took one pic while we were in the cave (lame), but if you click here you can see a whole bunch of other pics inside the cave.
The hike down was a lot quicker because it was all downhill! When we were almost at the bottom, my six year old said, “Mom, I think I’m losing my hiking spirit!”
He was worn out. What a sweetie.
Afterward, we decided to take the fam out to lunch. The kids picked Chuck-a-Rama, which is a great local buffet restaurant. Everyone was famished from the long hike, so we figured we would all get our money’s worth!
I definitely ate too much food (it’s hard not to do that at a buffet!), but I didn’t go crazy. I started out with a great salad…
I also had one plate of random food, but I forgot to take a picture. My plate included small portions of roast, carrots, stuffing, mashed potatoes, fruit and a roll. It was yummy.
I also decided to indulge in a couple small treats…it was Mother’s Day weekend after all!
I had a Rice Krispie treat and a small little loaf of Banana Bread. For some reason, the treats look HUGE in that pic. The Rice Krispie treat was just a typical size square and the banana bread was about 3-4 inches long. It was fabulous!
We all left there stuffed!

On Sunday morning, Kev made me a very yummy breakfast. He is the “omelet king” and he made me a killer one!
It included 1 egg, 4 egg whites, green onions, peppers, celery, olives and ham. He also cut up some fresh fruit for me. What a sweetheart.
Oh, and he even remembered my warm glass of lemon water.
I love my husband SO MUCH!
After church, he pulled out a few presents for me (he also decorated the house with some Mother’s Day balloons.) Yes, I felt like a spoiled child….but it was so nice!
Kev got me a gift card to Amazon (he knows I’m a picky shopper!) He also took the kids to the dollar store and let them pick out some gifts for me. I got a Crossword puzzle book, some dishes/platters/big bowl, a candle and a puzzle.
Loved it.
Later on, we went to visit my parents. We had a yummy BBQ dinner up there. Here’s my plate…
I had a hotdog (yes, I kinda really love them!), a little piece of chicken, baked beans, potato casserole, salad and fruit. I was in charge of bringing the fruit. 🙂
It was a yummy dinner and I loved spending the evening with my family. I snapped a quick pic with my mom and sissy…oh, and the dog…
I love my mom so much and feel so BLESSED to have her as my mother. She’s seriously amazing. She is always so kind, pleasant and NEVER raises her voice or even gets agitated. It’s pretty miraculous.
I love my sissy too (and miss my other sissy who lives in Connecticut!) I am just so so grateful for my wonderful family…SO GRATEFUL!
Well, that’s my Mother’s Day weekend in a nutshell. It was so much fun. I wish I could start over and relive the whole thing!
Well I gotta go get a bunch of things done, so I better wrap this up! Have a fantastic night! xoxo

I’ve only been to a cave once, but it was amazing! The kids and I went on a guided tour, and we learned and discovered so much. Timpanogos Cave looks like such a great family weekend destination. I’m glad you had a nice Mother’s Day! Your flowers are gorgeous.
And may I say I really like your orange slipper socks, LOL.

Caves are pretty dang cool and we had such a fun weekend! I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day as well. Oh, I love slipper socks so much. It seems like I’m always cold, so I’m always wearing some kind of cozy socks, lol!!

Happy belated Mother’s Day! That’s awesome that you went on a hike over the weekend. I think hiking is very challenging but rewarding because after all your hard work you end up seeing something spectacular, whether it’s a cave, nice view, etc! It’s also great bonding time! 🙂
Melanie says
I agree 100% with what you said about hiking. It’s hard, but I love being outdoors and seeing so many beautiful things….while getting exercise too!

Melanie says
Thanks! Ya know, I love the mountains so so much! I grew up in Utah, but it wasn’t until I moved away for several years and came back again that I realized how majestic the mountains really are. I love to hike around and go exploring!

Your photos of Timpanogos cave are beautiful. Glad you had such a wonderful Mother’s Day. I want to see Heaven is For Real too. I still have to see Noah.
Melanie says
Thanks so much! Heaven is For Real was a good flick. Noah was great too, but a little bit cheesy IMO. It was a pretty great movie, but didn’t seem like the Bible story at all. I loved the actors though!

Thanks so much! Yes, I’m a cry baby and wanted to bawl several times throughout that movie! Thanks for your kind words about my family. I love my husband SO much and am so so grateful for him every day! I love all my kiddos too, but we definitely have our challenges. The life of a mother is SO NOT easy, as I’m sure you know!
