Hey guys! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day.
We had a fun weekend! Kev’s parents came to stay with us for a few days and we enjoyed spending time with them. We had fun playing games, chatting, enjoying yummy food and just spending time together. My 5 year old cried as they drove away this morning. 🙁
So sweet.
On another note, I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Mother and Fitness.com recently.
They asked me some questions about what I love about running and how I’m able to live a healthy lifestyle with 5 kids. My interview was posted on the site today. Yay! Check it out if you get a chance.

I also want to tell y’all about a fun run/race coming up that Kev and I (and maybe some of our kids) will be participating in! It’s called The Color Run and it sounds like SO MUCH FUN!
It’s a 5k run, more like a 5k party, that is held in different cities all over the country! In fact, I just counted and it will be held in 71 different cities this year!
Kev and I will be running The Color Run in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, August 24th and I can’t wait!
Let me tell you a few things about what The Color Run is and why I’m so excited to run it (taken from the About Us section of their website)…
The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.
Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!
With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:
- Wear white at the starting line
- Finish plastered in color
Sounds like a blast! We can’t wait to run and I’m hoping some of my kids will run it with us. It sounds like the perfect race to run with the kiddos!

I totally want to run the color run! I’m not a runner, and I’ve only done one 5k before, but it looks like fun. I’ll have to see if I can round-up a few people to make a team of 4.
You should totally do it Aubrey! In fact, I just sent out a Facebook message to a bunch of people in our neighborhood to try to get some people to do it with us! I thought of you, but I don’t think I’m friends with you on Facebook. I’m going to look you up now. Anyway, if you decide to sign up, you are more than welcome to join our team. I made our team name “Smiling’s My Favorite” (from Elf, lol). Just look for that team name and it should also say (Banner) too. I think this race will be a ton of fun!
