You all know I’m a huge fan of healthy, nutrient dense, real food. And since I’m such a busy mom, I’m also a fan of convenient foods that make my life simpler!
Well, I was recently sent some new protein bars from Cascadian Farms that perfectly fit the bill….
These protein bars are made from organic pea protein (awesome!) and come in two delicious flavors; Honey Roasted Nut and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.
I love both of the flavors and love that they are full of real and recognizable ingredients! Woot! Check out the ingredients in these babies.
They do have 250 calories, which is higher than most protein bars out there, but the bar itself is substantial and filling. The 16 grams of fat are all from healthy sources too. Love it.
They also taste fantastic! Seriously, these are some of the best tasting protein bars I’ve tried, especially considering how healthy they are. In fact these bars remind me a lot of one of my favorite treats, Scotcheroos, but without the chocolate on top. Love them.
When I first received these bars, I immediately stashed a few of them in my purse. I was out running errands yesterday and was so grateful to have one of these with me. It satisfied the hunger demons and kept me full until dinnertime.
I also went to a tough class at the gym last weekend and decided to eat one of these bars on the drive home.
Yum! It was the perfect post-workout snack and had the right mix of protein and carbohydrates.
I also went on a run the other day. We’ve had beautiful weather here lately!!! It’s been so sunny and in the upper 50’s and low 60’s. It’s been THEE perfect running weather!
I’ve been lovin’ the blue skies!
When I returned from my run, I was happy to have another one of these protein bars. They are so yummy!
Cascadian Farms sent me a wonderful package full of a bunch of goodies: Several boxes of their new Protein Bars, a darling soft t-shirt, a water bottle, tote bag and some warm and incredibly soft mittens made by Baabaazuzu.
AND, Cascadian Farms was kind enough to offer a package just like this one to one of my readers too!! Yay.

I find protein is so important in the morning especially. My husband is addicted to eggs and my homemade whole grain toast in the morning. He says if he eats anything else, he doesn’t feel near as good for the rest of the day.
Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit says
I’m always adding extra protein into my diet by adding cottage cheese to my shakes, meat to salads, and beans to dishes as well!
Oh my gosh, I would make myself be a runner if I got to run with those views!!

I try to always pair my snacks with some form of protein or I know I will be looking for something else to munch on an hour later. I like to keep quick protein options in my purse so that I always have a fall back option when I am out and about. Lately, it’s been almonds or a protein bar. These new ones look yummy!

Protein takes me places! It takes me to work on a full stomach so I can get things done without hunger or cravings tempting me to pick up a doughnut in the break room.
It takes me through my day without needing to indulge in unhealthy snacks because it keeps me feeling full. No unhealthy snacks mean that I stay at a healthy weight. A healthy weight means lower risk for health problems.
Protein keeps me going through long, hard days of being a busy mom. After work, there’s dinner to prepare, homework to supervise, chores to maintain the household, activities and chauffeuring. Protein helps me feel more energized and less sluggish to get through my most difficult days.

Whoa baby! I am pretty impressed with the lack of crappy ingredients in those bars!!!! I approve!

The last two Mondays my 50/50 class at the gym has been really tough but great. I try and have protein right after that class so I can have a good recovery. I love having healthy snacks in my purse when I need something on the go.

I love protein! MyPlate sponsored something at an event we were at this last year and I always visualize the placemat they sent us home with! Always making sure there is some of protein with every meal/snack ensures I get the amount I need 🙂 mmmm, bars look so yummy! Also, I eat a hard boiled egg (with or without the yoke, depends on how I’m feeling!) every morning at breakfast. Yesssss.

I haven’t tried these bars yet but I’d love to try them! The class I teach is pretty intense. Even when I’m showing low intensity teaching, I’ll burn 700 calories in an hour. Due to this, I have to have some protein and nutrition in my body. I have just started eating Quest bars and they do the trick. I eat half a bar about 30 minutes before my workout and then the other half afterwards!
Oh, and I know you’ll read today but my motivation right now is that even though I haven’t lost any weight, I’ve lost 6 inches on my body in a month. Woohoo!
The Vegan 8 says
Wow, that is a great ingredient list and I am VERY picky on that! I was expecting to see the infamous “natural flavors” which could be from anything, but thankfully that isn’t one of the ingredients. They look wonderful!
Alex @ Kenzie Life says
I’m about to embark on a 21 classes in 31 days Pure Barre challenge, so I’m definitely going need some protein to help me recover from all those classes (since I’m going on a trip at the end of the month so I have fewer days to complete it in!)

Protein fuels the body and helps build my muscles back. I’m currently unemployed and developed a case of Edema through lack of proper nutrition. Now trying to rebuild the body with Protein. The most difficult run is now with the Edema as the muscles are strangled by the excess fluid in the legsmaking it very difficult to run, like having your legs wrapped super tight so your muscles can’t flex.

I am not usually a fan of store bought bars like this, but I have ALWAYS loved Cascadian Farms!! I would destroy a box of these!

Protein takes me through keeping up with a nearly crawling baby, a hungry husband, and a puppy that ALWAYS wants to play. Go protein!
Andrea Ryan says
I try to eat 5-6 small meals daily that include a protein and a carbohydrate serving. To get adequate protein in my diet I stock up on protein bars, greek yogurt, protein cereals, protein frozen waffles, a variety of nuts (small handful), cottage cheese, mozzarella string cheese, 2 hard boiled eggs, & by adding edamame to salads and frozen meals that I sometimes eat at lunch.
Lacey says
If I *don’t* start my morning off right with a nice healthy, protein rich breakfast, I find myself snacking throughout the day.

1. Protein takes me places by giving me the proper micronutrients I need to fuel my day.
2. I make sure to get adequate protein in my diet by eating lots and lots of greek yogurt and egg whites!
3. I completed a 50-minute toning class today for the first time since straining my neck last week!
4. I am learning to see food as fuel, not a reward!

***I am a new mom of a 9 month old still nursing my baby full time. I have been very active prior to the baby and am a self-proclaimed gym rat. This has been a huge adjustment, but I am taking it one day at a time. Protein helps me get through my day and ensure I eat a healthy diet and do not snack on processed food. It keeps me full and satisfied. And that helps me get through my tough workouts, business meetings, and house chores.
***I make sure to eat lots of protein by reaching for snacks that are protein-heavy (yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts, cheese, eggs, meats, fish, beans, you name it) and I make sure to have lots of these healthy options available to me at all times. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!
***I have just recommitted to my gym routine and started working out with a personal trainer to get my muscle definition back. It’s not easy, but it feels great! I love starting each day feeling like I pushed myself to the limit.
***One of my primary motivators is my baby. I want to set a great example!

I am almost embarrassed to share this but several years ago I went on a “no meat” kind of diet(I did not supplement with anything else either…pretty much no protein) . I actually lost weight but I also lost most of my muscle mass. Even though I was thin, I didn’t look right & I was pretty much a weakling. No more of that for me I make sure I have at least 4 servings of good healthy protein every day. I try to have chicken at least once a day, protein shake once a day, & the other 2 are either eggs, turkey bacon, protein bars, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, etc. I really learned my lesson & have a hard time getting through my workout without protein! I have never tried the Cascadian brand, but they look delicious & I would love to give them a try!

Since I consume so few calories during the day, I need to make every one of those calories count. Protein is so important. I love having a granola bar in the morning. It gives me enough brain power to allow me to be creative in my job. By 2:00, I begin to feel kind of sleepy, but another protein bar, a container of yogurt or a cheese stick and a cold bottle of water perk me right back up.

Protein is a MUST for my family. We are an Air Force family who recently moved to our new base in LA. My hubby has PT 3x a week so his breakfasts are always protein filled. With 2 young boys who are homeschooling we have to have the same first thing in the morning to get us through school each day. We LOVE Cascadian Farms though I must admit I haven’t seen these particular granola bars. Would LOVE to try!!! Thanks so much. You’ve inspired me to get outside with my guys today and lap up the fresh air (with a healthy snack of course!!! 😉 )
