K guys, I have to say I LOVE this recipe so much! It’s yummy, healthy, rich, creamy, filling, packs a huge protein punch (44 grams!) and definitely satisfies the sweet tooth! Woo hoo.
I originally saw this recipe in the November 2011 issue of Oxygen Magazine (love, love, love that magazine btw.) I tried their recipe, but it wasn’t quite chocolatey or sweet enough for me. I decided to play with it a bit and I love the way it turned out!
So, for all you chocolate lovers out there (isn’t everyone!?), here ya go!
- 1 cup fat free plain Greek yogurt (I love Fage, Chobani or Kirkland brands)
- 1/2 to 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (depending on how much protein you want!)
- 1 Tablespoon natural peanut butter (optional)
- 1 Tablespoon baking Stevia
- 1 Tablespoon cocoa
- 1-2 Tablespoons of milk, depending on the consistency you want.
Mix everything together and enjoy! Optional: top with banana slices, nuts, unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, chocolate chips, etc.
**Update (2/20/16): I make this Protein Pudding all the time, but now I leave out the protein powder. One cup of plain Greek yogurt has ~24 grams of protein already, so I figure that’s enough and it saves some calories too! It tastes great without the protein powder too.
These nutrition facts are calculated using 1 cup Kirkland Plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 scoop Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Protein Powder and 2 Tablespoons Silk Unsweetened Almond milk.

Is it weird that I totally just like to mix a little water into protein powder to make it pudding consistency? A lot of my friends think I am so weird, but MAN ARE THEY MISSING OUT! ha ha ah! 🙂 There is something about a creamy consistency that makes me so happy!
Melanie says
Hey, simple is good!! I agree, a little creamy chocolatey something always makes me happy!

I love these yogurt protein snacks. Thanks for posting!
Melanie says
Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy them!!

That looks really good! Not sure if you have ever heard of PB2 (it’s powdered peanut butter with hardly any calories and way less fat). That might be a good sub for the “regular” pb. Thanks for posting – will try this for sure!
Melanie says
Thanks Terri, I hope you love this! I have heard of PB2 and I love it! I’m sure it would be so good in this recipe. I made this pudding the other day and completely left out the peanut butter and it was good too. Enjoy! 😉

This sounds really good. I’m going to have to try it. I’ve marked you blog to come back. Sounds like I have a lot to learn from you on my new journey to better health and a happier (and thinner!) me. I’m down 30 pounds now, and it feels fantastic. I still have a ways to go, but the journey is amazing, especially learning to move again. Thanks for visiting me at http://www.abenewjourney.com and “liking” my post. That was encouraging!
Melanie says
I hope you like the protein pudding Paula! Congrats on losing 30 pounds so far…that is amazing. I’ve learned so much about healthy living the past couple of years and it really is rewarding. It’s tough, but so worth it (as you know!) I’m sure you can get the results you’re looking for, and I’m sure I can learn a lot from you as well. I love that you’re a mom of 4…I only have 1 daughter too. 😉 Good luck with the wedding planning…so exciting!
Paula Moldenhauer says
PS And I love that you are a mom of 5! I’m a mom of four–almost five. My daughter gets married soon, and then I’ll have 4 sons instead of 3. :O)

Yum!
This looks like an amazing dessert after I’ve worked out. I was told I should drink chocolate milk, but this looks so much better.
Melanie says
I really love this recipe. It is a perfect post workout treat! I used to drink chocolate milk after a run (and still do sometimes), but this protein pudding packs more protein, healthy carbs and probiotics to boot! Yay!
Katie says
That looks delicious! I’ll have to try that out sometime. I love how simple the recipe is!
Melanie says
I hope you love it. It really takes me 2 seconds to throw together and definitely satisfies the sweet tooth. 😉
spinmethin says
Ohhh this looks good! I often fall short of protien (and calcium) when I check my daily nutrition, so this looks like it’d be a great way to kill a few birds with one stone- protein, calcium and CHOCOLATE!
Melanie says
If you try it, I hope you love it! It is definitely full of protein, calcium and CHOCOLATE….yay!! 😉
Linda says
Just made and ate this, YUMMY!
Jay says
Could one sub almond milk or do you think dairy is necessary for the right consistency?
