Christmas Craziness and Other Fun Things

December 23, 201318 Comments

Guys!!!  Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!!  Wahoo.

I love Christmas Eve so much….almost as much as Christmas.  We have a lot of fun things and traditions planned for the next couple days and I’m really looking forward to it.

Well, you know how I told you guys I was trying so hard to get all my “to do’s” done so I could just kick back and enjoy the season?  Well, it hasn’t exactly worked out like that. 🙁

I’ve still be enjoying the season, but it’s been more crazy and chaotic and not so much calm and “kick back-ish.”  I still have one more store to run to, I have to wrap everything, deliver gifts to the neighbors and mail our Christmas cards.  Auuuughh.

Oh, and I also have a blanket to put together.  A couple years ago I made blankets for my kids and they have loved them so much!  So, this year I’m making one for my sweet three year old because he didn’t get one a couple years ago.  I have all the fabric, I just need to sew it together!

I think I need to clone myself about five times in order to get everything done.

***********************

Well, I thought I would share some pics of our crazy Christmas life the past several days.  We’ve had a lot of fun.

We went to a Christmas Recital for my cute daughter….

Gook at her Dance Recital

She’s really been enjoying dance and it’s been so much fun to watch her learn and develop her talent.  She’s such a sweetie.

On Saturday night, Kev and I planned a fun night with our family.  We decided to take the kids to Salt Lake City to see the lights at Temple Square.  We also decided to take the train into the city to make it a little more fun.

We had a wonderful time!

Here’s Kev and the kids waiting for the train to come.

And, here I am on the train with my two babies…

The kids and I on the train to SLC

Oh, and Kev kept telling me all night that I looked like Bret Michaels, lol!  I guess if you take away the facial hair, I can kind of, sort of see the resemblance.  Too funny.

Me and Bret Michaels

I also have to share a funny, funny picture that we laughed about all night long!!!

Funny pic of the kids on the train to SLC

I don’t know what in THEE heck is going on with this picture, but my daughter looks like a giant and my son looks like a “mini me” version of himself.  Of course, neither of them were big fans of this picture, but I just had to share.  Love it.

Anyway, we loved walking around and seeing all the beautiful lights at Temple Square.

We also went inside the historic Tabernacle Building.  It’s an amazing building with an amazing organ.  They had a lady in there playing the organ and it was pretty cool.

When we got home, we decided to do a puzzle with the kiddos and enjoy some yummy snacks.  We had veggies with Wholly Guacamole, popcorn and Babybel cheese.

I was recently sent a fun “Family Game Time” package from Babybel cheese that we loved.  It included Original, Mozzarella, Light and White Cheddar flavors.  They were all wonderful.

Family Package from Babybel

My kids get so excited when we get Babybel in the mail.  They really love it.  I also love it because it’s such a quick, easy and convenient snack.  I also think it’s a great snack to serve at parties…

Babybel Cheeses

Heck, if you just served the red and green ones, it would look festive at a Christmas party too!  Love it.

Anyway, we had a fun night and all of the kids enjoyed helping with the puzzle.  In fact, my littlest kids were the biggest fans of the puzzle!  Yes, it was a 1,000 pieces, but the kids were able to work on small sections at a time and loved it.

A fun family puzzle

Oh, and BTW, we have loved this puzzle.  I bought it on Amazon a couple years ago and it’s a great puzzle to do as a family.  So fun!

Well, last night we went up to my parent’s house for a fun Christmas party.  We did the annual Nativity reenactment with all the kids.

The Nativity with all the cousins

My daughter was a shepherd, my ten year old was a cow (by choice) and two of my other boys were Kings (or Wise Men.)

My five year old didn’t want to participate this year (little stinker), but check out my darling little “king.”

The cute Kings for the Natvity

Yes, we had four Kings (or Wise Men), but I dare say he was the cutest.  He loved it!

After the Nativity reenactment, the kids made Candy House cookies!  We’ve done candy houses every year for as long as I can remember.  We used to do actual Gingerbread houses, then we moved on to Graham Cracker houses, but this year we decided to just make house shaped Sugar Cookies and decorate them…

Kids making candy house cookies

It was much simpler (and yummier!) and lets be real….it’s all about the candy anyway, right???

All my kids made a cookie, but I only snapped a picture of a few of them…

The kids with their candy house cookies

We had a fun night.  I also have to say that I’ve been nibbling on my kid’s cookie houses today and they are pretty dang awesome….much better than graham crackers!

Oh, and amidst all the craziness, Kev and I were still also able to sneak out for a quick date last week.  We decided to run to Chilis one night for dinner and it was wonderful.

And yes, I was totally underdressed, lol.  That just shows you how crazy we’ve been…Kev didn’t even have time to change his clothes after he got home from work.  We’ve just been runnin’, runnin’, runnin’!

Kev and I at Chilis

We got the $20 dinner for two; chips and guacamole for an appetizer, Kev got steak with potatoes and broccoli and I got the Grilled Chicken salad and I loved every bite.

Grilled Chicken Salad

Well that’s our life in a nutshell.

I just made the executive decision to miss my beloved Boot Camp class tonight so I can run around and get all the million things done that I need to do!  I hate to miss my class, but I think it’s necessary.

I hope you guys all enjoy your Christmas Eve Eve!!

House cookies are a great idea to decorate. Still fun and not as hard as getting the houses to stand up and not fall apart.

It really simplified things. It used to be so frustrating to have all the kids houses fall apart. The cookies definitely took out a lot of the drama.

It’s definitely been crazy! I think you would love that puzzle. It’s been such a fun one and it doesn’t even seem like 1,000 pieces.

I cannot lie — It was like a Christmas miracle that my gym/fitness center was closed all this week. It gave me time to just breathe in and out and get all my crazy life done without feeling guilt for no workouts. I had to work on a routine last night (and have to tonight too) and it almost killed me! I hope you haven’t slacked a whole week like yours truly!!

Also, I have no idea why but I never realized you had 5 kids until this post! They’re all adorable and, I have to agree with your husband, you do have a bit “Brett Michael’s” look to you in the one pic!

I hope you had a fantabulous Christmas!

That is kind of nice that your gym was closed! Christmastime is so crazy and it’s so hard to fit everything in!! I look forward to life calming down a bit and my workouts returning to normal. 😉

We loved Frozen!! What a great story…and the music was FAB. Glad you had a great Christmas. We did too. Having a nearly 3 year old daughter made this a very memorable one. Cheers and Happy 2014.
