Clean Food and Three Great Combo Exercise Moves

October 25, 201310 Comments

Woo hoo, it’s Friday!!

Well, I’ve been a slacker at getting my sleep this week and I’m SURE feelin’ it.  I’ve been getting 6 to 6 1/2 hours most nights and it is just not enough.  I really need 7 1/2 to 8 hours consistently or I just fall apart.

Why is it so hard for me to get to bed at night???  I really like to sleep, but I guess I just need more hours in my day!

Don’t we all?

Anyway, I’m going to make it my goal next week to GET MY SLEEP!  It’s amazing what it does for my overall mood, productivity and pretty much every aspect of my life!  It’s also A LOT easier to eat well and exercise HARD when I’m well rested.

Go figure.

Anyway, I’ve still been eating well this week and I really love it so much!  I’ve just been staying away from refined sugar, white flour, fried food and most processed foods.

I’ve pretty much been eating a lot of the same things.  I’ve found it really makes healthy eating a lot easier to just eat the same things often!  I’m also a big fan of leftovers and actually plan my meals so I will have leftovers to eat throughout the week.  I also seriously LOVE my freezer and try to freeze leftovers whenever I can.  It’s great.

This has been my breakfast most days this week…

Toast with eggs and veggies

It’s just an egg/veggie scramble (onions, peppers, spinach, olives) topped with avocado and ketchup with some grape tomatoes on the side.  I’ve also been pan frying a slice of Dave’s Powerseed Bread in a little olive oil and it is wonderful!

This has been my lunch most days….

Chicken, corn and sweet potato

It’s just leftovers from Sunday dinner.  Chicken (topped with a little BBQ sauce), sweet potato and corn.  YUM!  This meal tastes great and is so filling.

I’ve also been having one of these most days…

Strawberry Milkshake Protein Shake

This is my Strawberry Milkshake Protein Shake and it is so gooooo…..ooood!!!  I’ve had it 3-4 times this week.  It has a little bit of sugar-free vanilla pudding mix in it and MAN, it makes it taste awesome.

In fact, my 3 year loved this shake so much that he wouldn’t give it back to me!  I ended up pouring some of it into a cup for him and he loved it.

My daughter also tried my shake and then asked me to make her one too!

B with my protein shake

Oh, and this has been a wonderful snack this week too…

Peach, cottage cheese, veggies and yogurt dip

A peach topped with cottage cheese with some veggies and Yogurt Dip on the side.

Yum.  I’ve really loved all of these foods!  I don’t feel deprived at all and I really don’t miss all of the junk food….except for chocolate chip cookies once in a while.  Hee hee.

I’ve also been enjoying some wonderful workouts this week!  I decided to make a fun video so I could share some great exercise moves with you guys!

In this video, I share three great combo moves.  Combo moves are basically just moves that work more than one area of your body in the same move.  They are wonderful.

Oh, and I also want to mention that in this video I accidentally called a “Squat Thrust” a “Thruster.”  No big deal, but I just wanted to mention it.

Well there you have it!  We are actually getting ready to get our family pictures taken tonight so I better roll!  Family pictures are stressful….wish me luck!!

Have a wonderful Friday night! XOXO

Great video. It’s always helpful to get new moves, especially things I can do at home if I can’t make it to the gym.

Great video, love the first combo move. Lunges are a favorite exercise of mine. Last move was killer! Oh, and my daughter loves smoothies too! I make a huge one every morning and we share it. She calls them “smoomoos”! She’s 2. 🙂

I’m the same way – I eat the same thing M-F…eggs with spinach for breakfast, salad with chicken for lunch and dinner varies. Isn’t it amazing how much better we feel when we’re eating cleaner, yet we often fall back into old habits of crummy food and immediately feel crummy!? You’d think we’d learn!!

I know, I wish I could just eat perfectly clean all the time, but I just LOVE some of that junk food a little too much! Why does it have to be so dang good??!
