Crazy Crazy Life, but Still Goin’ Strong!

October 28, 201426 Comments

Well folks, life has been hEcTiC lately!!!!

That is the understatement of the century.  Holy Hannah.

Just to paint a picture, here are some of the things I’ve been up to this past week….

Lunch with friends at The Cheesecake Factory…

Lunch with friends at Cheesecake Factory

I got the Cobb Salad.  Yum.

Doctor Appointment for Carson.  He had to have 3 Shots. 🙁

Carson at his doctor appt with me and Jake

Preschool Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch…

Jacob's Preschool Field Trip

Second trip to the Pumpkin Patch with ALL the kids…

Kev had surgery on his shoulder over the weekend…

Kev's Shoulder Surgery

He’s doing fine, but had to stay overnight in the hospital.  His heart rate and oxygen levels were too low because of his pain meds and anesthesia.  Weird.

ALL of the kids wanted to sleep in my room the night Kev was gone.  It WOULD HAVE been fun, but I was so worn out from a long day and all the kiddos were a little worn out and ornery as well.  We all went to bed at midnight.  I snapped this pic just before I turned out the light…

Kids sleeping in my room

I know one day I will miss all of these cute faces living together under the same roof.  Love my kids.

We also carved pumpkins with the kids last night…

Pumpkins with kids

We had a great time. 😉

Well, those are all the things I’ve taken pictures of over the past week.  However, I also…

  • Took the kids to ortho appointments
  • Went to a fun church Halloween bike parade with the kids
  • My daughter and I spoke at a church meeting Saturday night with several hundred people in attendance.  Eeeee.  Yikes.

Phew!  We’ve been busy doing a lot of fun/good things, but my stamina is pretty much at ZERO now.  Oh, and that’s not to mention all of the million things I do every day as a wife and mother.

I feel pretty much just like this guy…

guy in the desert

I don’t mean to complain, but I’m just keepin’ it real my friends!

Consequently, my exercise has been almost nonexistent, BUT I’m happy to say I’m still stickin’ to my healthy low-carb diet.  Woo Hoo!

Yes, I have not wavered AT ALL.  I’m now down about 6 pounds and I can actually feel a difference!  My “painted on” jeans are now just “very tight” and my “Costco sized muffin top” is now just a “normal sized muffin top!”

That’s progress!

I’m getting so sick of the same ol’, same ol’ food, but I just keep pluggin’ along.  I’ve tried to get creative with the options available to me, but I’m running out of ideas.  Sigh.

Here are some of the things I’ve been eating…

Various Egg Creations.  I pretty much have one of these every day!

Egg Creations

Salads, salads and more salads!

Low Carb Salads

Random leftovers from the fridge.  I pretty much open the fridge, dump various things on my plate and call it a meal!

Various Healthy Dinners…

Healthy Low Carb Dinners

I’ve made chicken several times using my favorite marinade, Green Bean Fries, Cauliflower Potatoes and Turkey Burgers!

I’ve also grabbed a few things on the go…

Low Carb Restaurant Fare

I made myself a quick salad the other day and took it with me in the car.  I laughed when I realized I put the salad in an old Cookie Dough container.  Ha ha.

Me with a salad on the run

Well, that’s my crazy week in a nutshell.  Thankfully, life should be slowing down a bit now…..just in time for the Holidays!!!

It’s about 10:30 PM and I need to head to bed so I can refuel a bit to tackle my life tomorrow!  I will leave you guys with a dang cute pic of a dang cute baby that I love very much…

Cute Carson

‘Night!  Love you all!

OK, hectic but your life looks soooo fun!!! You do need to get a break though to refresh. Want me to come babysit for you?? 🙂
I love how involved with your kids you are. LOVE that you all slept in the same room. They’ll always remember that!

Sorry you’re sick of the food–from here, it all looks amazing! Have you ever heard of intermittent fasting? I’d give that a try 2-3 times this week…it would be a good change for your body!

Oh, you’re so sweet Kirtley! Thankfully, life has slowed down a bit and I was able to get a little R&R over the weekend. I have heard of intermittent fasting. I used to stop eating around 7-8 and then put off breakfast for a while in the morning and I got good results from just doing that. I remember hearing that Hugh Jackman did that too when he was prepping for some of his movies. I’m glad you mentioned it because I do think that would help and I’ll give it a shot! Thanks for the tip.

Love the chubby baby belly in the dr office pic!! So sweet. That’s amazing that you’re down 6 lbs from changing up your diet. Maybe I should really evaluate my eating a little better. I haven’t dieted at all since having the baby.

I LOVE chubby babies so much and it’s been so much fun to see my baby getting rolls! Yes, I feel so great since I’ve cleaned up my diet. I’m really sick of the food I’m eating, but I know it’s so good for me and so needed right now!

Your salads look amazing! Thanks for making me crave a salad for lunch at work today!
I love your relationship with your kids and the “sleepover.” It’s wonderful that even your teens were part of it!

I’ve been lovin’ salads lately! It’s such a great way to fuel my body AND use up all the produce before it dies, lol! I’m always so happy when my teenagers still want to do the “little kid” stuff. I really don’t like my kiddos growing up so darn fast.

So glad the low-carb diet is going so well for you and you are seeing progress! I can imagine how exhausting life is for you right now (and I’ll probably get a good idea myself pretty soon!) but you are doing so great!

Kev’s recovering slowly, but surely! He’s so glad to have it over with though. I’ll be so happy for him (and me!) when he’s back to 100%!

On the bright side it looks like a good kind of hectic. Well, maybe not the surgery. Happy to hear he’s doing fine.

Oh my gosh that baby! And I love the picture of the kids sleeping in your room. I never thought my boys would stop wanting to come down and sleep with us, but knew I would be sorry when they did. They’ll still snuggle though – for 30 second intervals. I’ll take it.

Such a fun activity to go to the pumpkin patch as a family! We went to one as a preschool and it just doesn’t seem right not doing a legit pumpkin patch now (i.e.-albertsons for pumpkins?). It’s great the surgery went well- hope everyone is recovering well. Looks like a fun sleepover in mom’s room! Way to go on the low-carb diet-the foods look delicious and that is amazing progress, Melanie! Keep it up 😉 (also, I loooove the athlete models… you mentioned it a while back. so STRONG! the best example for fitness!!)

I love the pumpkin patch so much too and don’t think I could ever just buy pumpkins at the store again! We had a great time. Thanks so much for your support and kind comments, Arianna!
