Well folks, holy crap I’ve been neglecting my blog! Auuuughh!
I’ve been a very busy lady! I feel like I’ve been living the “Groundhog Day movie life” the past several Saturdays. If you haven’t seen that movie….Bill Murray stars in it and he has to relive the same day over and over again!
The past several Saturdays, I start my morning off with a short run, then head off to one of my daughter’s dance competitions (she’s has 3 in the past month.) When I get home, I head out on another run to get all my miles in! It’s kind of been insane.
I snapped this pic at my daughter’s competition today…
Kev had another commitment he had to be at, so I brought my three littlest boys with me to the competition. I took that picture near the end and they were all so worn out. My baby was completely sacked out and my other two little boys were more than ready to go home (my son’s face pretty much says it all!) They were good sports though. We broke it up a little and went to the park, the grocery store and McDonald’s in between some of her dances.
It made for a very, very long day though and I was so freaking tired when we got home.
I ran 2 1/2 miles in the morning before we left and when I got home I ran another 6 1/2 with Kev. It was great, but I hate that I’ve been having to break up my miles! Gah!
I know I could wake up earlier and get it all done in the morning, but then I think my body would fall apart and I would implode. 😉
Also, if I’m going to wake up wicked early on a Saturday morning, then I know I need to go to bed early on Friday night…and that just ain’t gonna happen. I live for my Friday nights! So, I guess I’ll just have to keep on fittin’ in my running miles where they fit. Dang it.
FYI, we will be running the Ragnar Wasatch Back relay race in a few weeks. I’ve done a few relay races, but I’ve never done Ragnar. I’m excited. My first leg is over 10 miles though, so I want to make sure I’m ready! My second and third legs are like 3 and 5 miles, so they won’t be a big deal. I’m sure grateful my longest one is my first leg. YAY!
Well I told y’all I’ve been a busy lady, right? Well last weekend, I went on a very fun and very much needed road trip with some of my dearest friends.
I drove down to VEGAS with my two friends, Kristen and Ali (in the middle of that picture) and we met our friend, Melissa (far right), who flew in from Washington. We spent the weekend together soaking up the sun, shopping, going to the Peter Cetera concert (in St. George, Utah) and just relaxing. We also saw an interesting mind reading type show called The Mentalist. It was pretty darn cool and I have absolutely no idea how he did all the stuff he did!
We had such a great time! It was just so nice to check out from life for a bit and spend time with my girlfriends. I hadn’t seen Melissa in forever, probably like 8 or 9 years!
It wasn’t quite as hot as it would have normally been in Vegas (it was in the low 70’s most of the time), but I can’t complain. Kev texted me a picture of our house while we were gone and we got several inches of SNOW!! Crazy.
It felt so good to just sit by the pool and feel the warmth of the sun. I seriously can’t remember the last time I’ve done that! If I’m by a pool, I’m usually frantically running around making sure all my kids don’t drown. Ha.
I can’t say Vegas is my favorite place in the world (it’s a little sketchy), but it’s sure nice to have a fun, warm place to go that’s not too far of a drive. We enjoyed walking around The Strip and people watching a little bit. It’s amazing how many RANDOM people are in Vegas….you seriously see all types. It’s definitely eye opening!
We also loved going to the Peter Cetera concert! It was awesome, although we got there a little late because we forgot about the time change, dang it.
Can I just say that I LOOOOOVE Peter Cetera’s voice! Man. He’s in his 70’s now, but he sounds just the same. Such a cool voice!
We had such a great weekend. I know I’ve already shared a zillion pictures, but I thought I’d also share some pics of my friends and I from “back in the day!”
I’ve known my friend Kristen since birth. Seriously, we went to preschool together. Then in high school, Kristen, Melissa and I were like The Three Musketeers.
These pictures make me laugh for several reasons! First off, we look like idiots. Ha ha. Apparently we were into the “don’t smile, strike a dramatic pose” look, lol. I also have to laugh because we did “photo shoots” like this quite often, except we were “old school” and had to use 35mm film and hope the pictures turned out!
This picture was taken shortly after high school graduation on our “Choir Tour,” with our Senior class choir members. It was such a fun trip! This pic is of Kristen, Ali, me and our friend Jen.
We were friends with Ali in high school too, but I didn’t become really, really good friends with her until the end of high school and then we ended up being college roomies.
These pictures perfectly sum up our college years! We would wear those “Jason masks” every time we’d go do pranks. And, MAN, we did some epic pranks. I’ll have to share those stories another day! I also have to laugh because I found these pictures in my cheesy scrapbook. Why in the world I ever cropped all of these pictures so much, I’ll never know. I’m sure hoping I have the negatives to all them someplace!
I’m an old lady guys. Seriously, where does the time go!?
Oh, and these darling friends of mine that I love so much were my bridesmaids at my wedding too…
My two sisters are on the right too. I’m sure grateful for all the wonderful people in my life! Oh, and can I just say that I wish I could do my whole wedding over again. Brides nowadays are so lucky to have Pinterest and all the amazing resources on the internet!
As a 20 year old bride (with a lame internet), I seriously had no idea how to do a wedding! I’m just not diggin’ my dress or my hair. Oh, and I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to have my bridesmaids hold a single red rose. I thought it would be beautifully simple, but I actually think it looks a little bit lame.
Oh well, it’s a’ight. At least I married a wonderful man! I definitely did that right!
Well I’m sorry for the photo dump and I’m sorry this post hasn’t been exactly health and fitness-ish. I’ve pretty much been running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off!
I must say that this week was not exactly a good eating week for me! I’ve just been so maxed and so weary, that I haven’t been as mindful of my food choices. I’ve kind of felt a little apathetic. It’s not good.
Life is not exactly going to slow down either. The end of the school year is always nuts, especially because I have a child graduating. Seriously, what in the heck. How did that even happen? Didn’t I just graduate a few years ago!??! Sigh.
Life is also going to be nuts as we get ready for Ragnar and head into summer.
I really wonder if it will ever really slow down?! I know I just gotta dig deep, find my motivation again and get back to work! Oh, and I should probably stop baking cookies too! 😉
Oh, and I thought I’d share a few pics from a run I went on a few days ago. I ran 5 1/2 miles with my possee (baby + doggie.)
It was a beautiful evening run and the weather was perfect! I love these guys!
On our way home we passed one of those speed limit signs that flash your speed as you drive by. Whenever I run by it, I try to run fast enough that it picks up my speed! Ha ha.
Can I just say that it’s hard to run, push a jogger and take a picture of my speed all at the same time? Yes, it is.
Well, this has been a long, unorthodox post and I need to hit the hay! I promise I won’t suck this bad at blogging again any time soon! ‘Night. I love you all!

What a treat, to have a girls’ weekend! My girlfriends and I had a long weekend in Vegas a couple of years ago. We spent most of the morning by the pool, hit the spa in the afternoon, and went to shows in the evening. Pure luxury! I hear you about Vegas being sketchy, though. I can handle about three days at a time.

Oh we had such a great time! I wish we would have gone to the spa too. That would have been heaven!
