The Best Breadsticks Ever...Seriously!

These are the best breadsticks ever! Look no further. I'm serious.

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3½ cups flour (I used 4 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter
  • Parmesan cheese
  • garlic salt
  • parsley flakes
Instructions
  1. Combine water, yeast, and sugar in large bowl. Allow to sit until yeast mixture is bubbly.
  2. In medium bowl combine flour and salt.
  3. Once yeast is bubbly, add dry ingredients and knead for 2 minutes (I used the dough hook on my Kitchen Aid mixer.)
  4. **If dough is super sticky, add small amounts of flour until dough stops sticking to sides**
  5. Cover bowl with clean dishcloth and let rise 20 minutes.
  6. While dough is rising, preheat oven to 400°F.
  7. Melt cube of butter and pour onto large cookie sheet (jelly roll pan.)
  8. Sprinkle the melted butter with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese (I sprinkled the garlic salt evenly around the pan and the parmesan cheese liberally!)
  9. Roll the dough into a rectangle about the size of the cookie sheet (it doesn’t need to be perfect.)
  10. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into one inch wide strips.
  11. Take a strip of dough, fold it in half and twist it to form the bread stick.
  12. Roll each bread stick around in the butter in the pan until completely covered.
  13. Set the breadsticks in the pan, moving them around as necessary until each breadstick has been covered with the butter mixture.
  14. Arrange the breadsticks in the pan and sprinkle tops with a little more garlic salt, Parmesan cheese and parsley.
  15. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown on top.
  16. Enjoy!
