Feeling Better and Fun Times

February 5, 201416 Comments

Happy hump day to you all!  I obviously live for the weekend. 😉

I’m happy to report I’ve been feeling a little bit better the past few days!  I hate to even say that out loud for fear I will jinx myself.  I still don’t feel anywhere close to 100%, but I’ve had a lot more energy and haven’t felt barfy 24/7.

I can see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I am now almost 13 weeks along.  I think weeks 9-12 were the hardest.  I just felt so darn tired and blah all the time and really had a hard time working out.  I probably only exercised once (maybe twice) a week and it was hard to motivate myself to even do that.

BUT, I’m happy to say I’ve actually sorta kinda enjoyed working out this week!!  Woo hoo!  I’ve felt a lot better and have had a lot more energy.  Yay, yay, yay!

However, I’m a total wuss right now.  Because I haven’t been working out very consistently, I’m a little bit out of shape and a lot weaker.  It’s fascinating to me how quickly the body deteriorates.  I’m hoping to kick it up a notch and get back into decent shape as soon as possible.

I’ve still been having my egg on toast for breakfast pretty much every morning.

Fried egg on top of Dave's Powerseed Bread

It seriously is the best “pregnant lady” food out there.  It always tastes and sounds good to me, fills me up without making me want to throw up and has some health benefits too!  FYI, I use Dave’s Killer Powerseed Bread and I love it so much!  I buy it at Costco and it’s the bomb.

I’ve also been having completely random things for lunch and snacks.  I haven’t been taking too many pics, but here’s what I had for lunch on Monday…

Toast with jam, banana with peanut butter and an orange

A slice of toast with homemade strawberry jam, half a banana with peanut butter and an orange.  Very random.

That homemade jam has been calling my name!  I overdosed on Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches yesterday and it was heavenly.

I hope you all enjoyed the Super Bowl on Sunday.  Sadly, I don’t really care about the game, but I DO love the food and good company!  I was also happy that the Seahawks won.

We went up to my parent’s house for a fun party.  I only watched the end of the game (which wasn’t really much of a game!), but I loved chatting with my sister-in-laws and eating yummy food.

Here’s some of the food we enjoyed…

Yummy Super Bowl food; fruit, chips, veggies, cookies and crackers with cheese.

I brought that fruit with the yogurt dip and the chips and guac (Wholly Guacamole.)  I really wanted to bring strawberries, but I went to three different stores to buy them and they looked terrible and were SO expensive ($3.99-$5.99 a pound!!)

So, I just stuck with grapes, apples and bananas.  I just used Raspberry Chobani yogurt as the dip and it tasted fantastic to me!  I have a bunch of different fruit dip recipes that include cream cheese, Cool Whip and/or Mashmallow Cream, but I’ve decided that regular yogurt is my favorite dip out there!

Here’s a pic of my Super Bowl food (so exciting, I know)….

My plate full of yummy Super Bowl food

I kept snitching on food all night long and also snagged a cookie or two.  It was great.  My daughter and I also took a selfie with our food!

My daughter and I with our Super Bowl food

She’s a sweetie poo and is growing up so fast!  She will be an official teenager next month!!  What the?!??  How is that possible when I still feel 18 myself??!

Speaking of old people, I am going to be having another birthday this Sunday!  I really love birthdays, but I’m not such a fan of the getting older stuff.  I will be thirty freaking EIGHT!  Seriously!??

I can’t believe I’m nearing the big 4-0!  I can’t believe how fast time flies.  It is seriously crazy.

I went out with some of my most precious friends in the world on Monday night.  We had a wonderful time!

Out at Blue Lemon restaurant with wonderful friends

We went to Blue Lemon, which is one of my favorite restaurants on the planet!  I’m sorry to say it’s pretty much a local restaurant with several locations in Utah and one in Arizona.

I ordered the Artichoke and Tomato Chicken (iron-seared natural chicken breast, topped with fire-roasted artichoke hearts and tomatoes, served with roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed spinach, and roasted red pepper cream sauce) and it was fabulous!

My Blue Lemon Chicken Artichoke dish

We had such a fun night.  We have all known each other since birth.  We grew up together and went to church together.  There were actually eight of us total, but not everyone could make it. 🙁  I cherish these guys so much and feel so blessed to have been able to grow up with such wonderful people.  I LOVE them all so much!!!

Well that pretty much sums up my life the past several days!  Kev and I are going to a private screening of the movie The Monuments Men tonight!  I’m really looking forward to it.  The movie will be officially released on Friday and I will post my review in the next day or two.  It looks like a great movie with an all-star cast.

I have one more cute pic to share before I go on with my day.

My two babies got haircuts the other day and I just love them with fresh haircuts!!

My cute kids getting haircuts

I love these cutie patooties so much it hurts.  They are such a joy!  They are growing up too fast and it makes me sad.

Well, that’s all folks.  I hope you all have a fabulous day!

YOU AND ME BOTH! The super bowl? Ew, no thank you! I didn’t even really bother with the commercials this year either. The only reason why I love the Super Bowl is because it makes driving in Los Angeles EASY! It took under 30 minutes to get from the beach to my home – which is COMPLETELY unheard of! ha ha ha! So THANK YOU SUPER BOWL -I wish it were every weekend, LOL!

And I am so glad to hear you’re feeling better – I am knocking on wood so that you did NOT jinx yourself!

I guess there are some perks to the Super Bowl! I missed most of the commercials this year too. I just love the food and good company!

I love your blog Melanie, I love how you write…you are so funny with your descriptions and crack me up! Anyways, thrilled you are feeling better. I remember by that time I felt like a champ when pregnant. I was so sick and weak the first trimester and could barely keep my eyes open, seriously, so I don’t see how it would even be possible to be pregnant again and take care of my daughter. You are amazing Mommy! I agree with you too…I was working out 6 days a week, strong as an ox and could do pull-ups and push-ups so easily and I was shocked at how weak I became and couldn’t do ONE after she was born. Thank God I’m back to normal now…crazy what the human body as us women can go through!

Thanks so much Brandi! You’re so sweet. I’ve been amazed at how different my body feels! I just have to keep reminding myself that it’s temporary and I will eventually get back to my normal self. It is so amazing what a pregnant lady goes through!

So glad you’re feeling better! As a native Coloradan, I obviously felt very very differently about the Super Bowl 😉 I told my best friend that the Broncos had one chance to win my allegiance and if they didn’t they would be dead to me forever….also, NO ONE in Colorado has really spoken about it to other Coloradans. The next day I think the Broncos were dead to everyone because it’s pretty much a taboo thing here now. It’s sad but funny 🙂 Hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing!

Oh, that’s so sad about the poor Broncos!! I sometimes root for them too since they’re the closest team to Utah. 🙁
