I have decided…..I have issues. 🙂
I’ve had a rough couple of days. I’ve just been extremely busy busy busy (aren’t we all!?) and seriously draggin’.
Here is my problem (I imagine a lot of you can relate.)
I expect a lot out of myself. I am constantly doing something and most of the time I’m multitasking! I’m a really busy, busy person; probably too busy!
I’m always trying to identify the things that are most important and weed out things that really aren’t. However, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not willing to cut anything else off the list….but I’m also not able to accomplish it all! Dang! It makes for a stressful situation.
Here is a list of things I strive to accomplish on a regular basis:
- Raise 5 kids + a cute doggie!
- Help them to do well in school
- Help them to develop talents (i.e. dance, sports, music, scouts, etc.)
- Drive them to and from all the many events!
- Teach them to work!
- Make sure my kids practice good hygiene (i.e. shower, brush teeth, brush hair, etc.)
- Enjoy meaningful family outings
- Play referee/psychiatrist/mediator/whatever the heck is needed!
- Have valuable one on one time with my kids/good conversations
- Read to/with my kids
- Have “Family Night” every Monday night
- Read scriptures as regularly as possible and have family prayer
- Keep a relatively clean house!
- Keep up with never ending laundry!
- Spend valuable time with my husband.
- Exercise at least 5-6 times a week
- Eat well and plan healthy meals
- Grocery shop efficiently so we always have healthy food on hand and not too much food going to waste!
- Volunteer for my church
- Help at the kids schools (I’m not very good at this one since I have two little ones at home, but I help where I can!)
- Oh….and find time to blog about it all! 🙂
K, I also strive to get adequate sleep and somehow carve out some time to “chill” and enjoy some of the things I love.
However, since I’m always running like crazy to accomplish all of these many things…..the whole “adequate sleep” thing and “chill time” usually don’t happen.
Because of this, I find myself becoming run down/worn out/sick/stressed out or all of the above and then everything comes to a crashing halt.
Then, the vicious cycle continues. It is tough.
But, I’m still happy and so grateful for all that I have been blessed with. I do feel very very fortunate.
So right now I’m “enjoying” one of those crashing halt moments. I have felt very very worn out and just blah the past couple of days. So, I’ve still been exercising, but I must say I’ve been “self medicating” a little bit with crappy food and a little lot of my daughter’s birthday cake!
However, I’ve been trying to get my sleep (7-8 hours for 3 nights in a row now….woo hoo!) and regain my strength. I realize that I need to put my health and stress management first so that everything else can get done!
There, that is my little vent session.
I do feel a little better.
Oh, and since we’re talking about my crazy, stressful life. Here’s a picture for your enjoyment. This was about a week ago. I was just trying to “chill” and maybe close my eyes for a minute of two.
I guess it just wasn’t in the cards! 🙂
This is my life….
I also have a yummy, easy, “crashing halt” life recipe that my friend shared with me the other day. I’ll post it later tonight if I get a chance. It’s for Crock Pot (love!) Meatballs with Sauce that you can put atop your favorite pasta, brown rice or quinoa. Yum.
I love you all! xoxo

Melanie, I just have to say you make me laugh. You are way to hard on yourself. You are really good at a lot of things. So what if it all comes to a screaching halt sometimes. I’ve been reading your blogs enough to know that you will be back on the saddle tomorrow or the next day or whenever. But the point is you never give up. Anyway thanks for venting you just put in words everything I’ve been feeling for a couple of days myself. It just made me laugh at myself because I think I am to hard on myself sometimes to. Good thing tomorrow is a new day. Keep up the good work and thanks for blogging. I do sometimes get my weekly entertainment from it.

Thanks Susan! It feels good to know someone else is feeling the same way! Life is kind of crappy sometimes, but I hope this little “funk” ends soon. Thanks for your support and friendship! I appreciate it more than you know! 🙂
