Fun Stuff with the Kids and Laughing Cow Cheese

June 20, 20136 Comments

Hey y’all!  We’ve had a lot of fun the past couple of days.

I took the kids to see a movie yesterday morning.  A lot of the local theaters do “Summer Movies for Kids” where they show a different movie each week and only charge $1.00-$2.00 per person.  Love it!  The movies are not new ones, but they are good ones!  I took the kids to see “Horton Hears a Who” yesterday and they loved it.  AND, it was new to my two littlest kids since they had never seen it. 😉

I bought some popcorn and a drink for my kids to share and I smuggled in my own healthy stuff…

Healthy popcorn and water for the movie

Some Skinny Pop Popcorn and a bottle of water.

Skinny Popcorn

Yes, I know I shouldn’t smuggle stuff in, but I wouldn’t eat any of their crap anyway….so they’re not losing money on me.  And, I did buy some other stuff for my kids so I felt justified. 😉

Btw, I really love this Skinny Pop popcorn.  It’s not anything special; it’s just a quick, easy, crunchy, salty, healthy snack that I’ve really enjoyed.  Kev’s not a big fan because he loves his popcorn really buttery and flavorful.  This popcorn is not buttery at all.  It’s just light and salty.  Yum.  Oh, and we bought it at Costco, of course.  Oh, and it’s only 39 calories per cup.  Score!

I took the kids to the library this morning.  I got some great reading material for me…

Oxygen Magazines

I love Oxygen Magazine.  It is so motivational and inspiring!

I also got a bunch of great books for the kids.  I’m trying to keep their minds from turning to mush this summer.  I love the library!

When we got home, I thought it would be fun to have a picnic in the backyard.  Soooo, I gathered up all the stuff and we set everything up.

Fun picnic with the kids

The kids had Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches and quesidillas and I had a big yummy salad.

Yummy Picnic Salad

I just threw in some romaine, spinach, red peppers, cucumbers, hard boiled egg, leftover chicken and some almonds.  I topped it all with a little bit of light ranch.  Yum.

We also had some apples, carrots and crackers with Laughing Cow cheese.  Super yummy!

Healthy Snacks Picnic

The Laughing Cow sent me a fun package recently…

Here’s what was inside…

Inside the laughing cow package

So fun!  A cute little cooler, water bottle, Wheat Thins, baby carrots and three different types of Laughing Cow cheese.

Laughing Cow Cheese

I love Laughing Cow because it’s tastes great, is portable and is only 35 calories per wedge!

I also love that you don’t even need a knife to spread it.  You can easily use the wrapper to hold it and put it on your crackers, carrots or other veggies.

Laughing Cow and crackers

It’s the perfect thing to take on a picnic or to the pool or beach this summer.  Love it.  Oh and FYI, I like to spread Laughing Cow cheese on my wraps or put it in my eggs too.  Love it.

After our picnic was over, we snuggled up and enjoyed some of our library books together.

Reading to the kids outside

I love my sweet kiddos (and doggie!) so much.  I want to enjoy them every day because they are growing up way too fast.

One last bit of exciting news….we got a new van!  Wahoo.  I know that’s probably not exciting for all of you, but it is so exciting for our little family.

We had our cute little Kia Sedona for over 10 years.

Our Kia Sedona

It was a good little van, but it was just starting to fall apart….and it was becoming very teeny for our giant family.

We brought home three newborn babies from the hospital in this van and have gone on countless road trips.  We lived in New England (Rhode Island and New Hampshire) for 6+ years and took this van to Maine, Vermont, NYC and Boston many times, Niagara Falls, Washington D.C. and many other fun places.

It’s been a good ol’ van, but it was time to put ‘er down.

So, we got a new Toyota Sienna and I can’t tell y’all how much I love it!

Our new Toyota Sienna

It is the absolute perfect van for our family right now.  It is a joy to drive and is super comfortable for the kids.  We have SO MUCH room!

Kids in the new van

The kids have been very excited about having a DVD player in the car.  It’s actually a little bit annoying because they want to watch a movie every time we get in the van…even if it’s for 10 minutes.  I’m sure the newness will wear off soon. 😉

Soooo, we love our new van!  I just hope I don’t wreck it. 😉

Well, that’s all folks.  I’m getting ready to head out to the gym, so I gotta fly!  Have a wonderful night!

The Laughing Cow sent me the complimentary cheese and package, but the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

What a fun little day (days) you planned for your kiddos! As an educator, THANKS for taking your kids to the library. Early and continued literacy is so important 🙂
    Congrats on the van!
