Getting My Groove Back!

January 28, 201329 Comments

I had a rough, rough week last week!  Man.  I don’t know what my problem was.

Let me back up for a sec…I loved my 7 day weight loss cleanse that I did a couple weeks ago.  I felt great and will most definitely do it again.  I’m working on getting all of the logistics of the cleanse organized so I can share it with all of you.  I will try to get it posted this week if I can. 😉

Anyway, my cleanse ended last Sunday.  So, on Monday I decided to have a small “free” day.  I went out to Chinese food for lunch with Kev and then I made cookies with the kids later on.  It was great.  However, I went DOWNHILL from there!

By Monday night, I felt pretty blah.  Most of my kids have had bad colds the past couple weeks and I think I got whatever the heck they had.  I just felt tired, achy, sore throat-y, headache-y and completely unmotivated.  It was quite depressing.

I’m sorry to be such a downer, but life isn’t always super easy.  I’m sure you can all relate. 🙁

So, I missed a couple of my workouts last week and ate entirely too much CRAP!    I woke up every morning feeling just like an unmotivated slug.  It’s amazing how when I feel sick and gross, I lose all of my “healthy living” oomph.  So sad.

So, last night I told Kev that I was determined to get my groove back this week!!  I still don’t feel 100%, but I’m going to take control of my health regardless.  I’ve vowed to get my sleep, eat extra awesome and get all my workouts in this week!

Woo hoo.

So, last night I got almost 8 hours of sleep and I have been a machine today!  Here’s a little overview of my accomplishments today….

A (Mostly) Clean House (I’m not counting the kids bedrooms, lol!)…

A Mostly Clean House

I got laundry all done (gasp!) and put away (double gasp!!!)  The laundry sitting on the floor is my “big kids” laundry that they put away when they get home from school.

All the Laundry is done!

Quick side note:  Is laundry ever really done???  Uhhh, no.  Unless we all decide to go naked for a day, it’s never really done.  Sad, but true.  My goal is to just not let it bury me!

I also changed and cleaned all the sheets on all the beds!  Sorry, no pic.

I put dinner in the Crock Pot (Chicken Cacciatore).  I will share the recipe soon.

Dinner in the Crock Pot

Made a bazillion protein balls…

Protein Balls!

Got my workout in (Boot Camp class at the gym and a little free weights afterward.)  Check.

Workout Done, Check!

And now, I’m blogging about it all.

Yay, I’ve returned!!  I love moving forward and being productive.  I don’t do well as a “slug” for too long.

Another quick side note: This is not a typical day for me.  I usually don’t get this much stuff done!  It just makes me happy because I am reclaiming my life.  I’m IN CHARGE!  Cheesy, yes.

Speaking of being “in charge”, I need to go to bed now.  It’s almost 10:00 PM and I want to continue my productive streak tomorrow!

I hope you all had a wonderful day as well!  xoxo

It’s so easy to get off your path. There are a few things that have helped me on my journey:
    1) WRITING DOWN A SCHEDULE!! I know it sounds so boring sometimes, but I know what I’m eating and when I’m eating. 2) When you wake up in the morning take 10 minutes to mind dump. Get it all down on a piece of paper – all the things you have to do (today. tomorrow. Four weeks for now) 3) Before bed, write down the top five things you have to do the next day.

This will help you keep your groove!! Visuals, organization and get it girl!

Love it! Thanks for the tips Kristie. I am kind of OCD, so I’m sure I would benefit from sticking to a schedule. Thanks so much. 😉

Maybe your body was rebeling against the cleanse concept… In some ways, it seems to me like an unstustainable mini diet. I get the concept of purification, but at least for me, I’d rather stick to being healthy most of the time with little cheats along the way.

You sound just like my husband, lol. He’s not a fan of little “diets” either, lol. I actually felt really good on my cleanse though. The way my cleanse is set up is actually really healthy….just lots of “real” unprocessed foods and no crap. I’m not a fan of liquid or fasting cleanses at all. I eat healthy most of the time, but love to kick it up a notch when I’ve been slackin’!

maybe us men just have a different mindset – at any rate, for having 5, it doesn’t seem like you have been ‘slackin’ much

Man, talk about getting a lot done in one day! Way to go. Glad you’re feeling better, and don’t worry – being sick is always a challenge so sometimes being out of the groove is totally okay. It happens to the best of us 🙂 Hopefully you’ll be all better in no time and have a stellar week!

Thanks so much Britta! It is crazy how much damage a little sickness can bring. I’m just glad I’m on the “up and up” now. I hope you have a wonderful week as well!

Yes Laur, you and I are two peas in a pod. 😉 I love being productive, but sometimes the kiddos, life, the house, the dog, etc. just don’t support my productivity, ya know? Lol! I love you lots.

Hi Melanie! Sometimes we just need a rest and you definitely needed one. Kudos to you for keeping such a huge house so clean.

I agree Irene, I definitely needed a rest. Yes, my house is a little bit of a pain to keep clean. We often talk about moving to a smaller, more manageable house! I’m always trying to simplify…. 😉

I envy your good night’s sleep! I have 3 kids that have sleeping issues and I’m living for the day to get a good sleep in!! Don’t feel too badly for me, I make up for lack of sleep by napping!

Protein balls are the most delicious healthy treat and I love them so much! There are a million different recipes out there on the internet, but I have two that I make all the time. Both recipes are in my “recipe” section, but here are the links too, Coconut Chia Seed Protein Balls and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Balls. I hope you love them!! 😉

Ooh, good to hear that those things happen to you either^^
This week it’s me who is falling ill: Sore throat, dizziness whenever I move, feeling tired out etc.
But it’s important to give my body the rest it needs to recover and I cannot exercise 🙁
Hope this won’t throw me back too far 🙁
