Getting the Last Few Things Done Before BABY + I Can’t Wait to Deflate!

August 5, 201414 Comments

Kev and I went to Costco last night.  Yay.  I was all out of lettuce (the horror!) and pretty much all of the typical yummy produce I love to have on hand.

Soooo, we loaded up….

Produce from Costco

I got romaine lettuce (yay!), pineapple, peaches, bananas, avocados, apples, tomatoes, raspberries and grapes.

AND, I forgot to get bell peppers AGAIN.  Gah!

We also loaded up on a bunch of not-so-healthy, yet very convenient kid-friendly things so we’ll have plenty of options after baby is here.  We have a LOT of mouths to feed and I KNOW we’ll be on “survival mode” for a couple weeks….

Frozen food from Costco

The kids will be thrilled.  I do want to say that although none of this food is “healthy,” I’m really impressed with Costco’s fake, processed food.  They’re definitely made with better ingredients than most.

Oh, we also snapped this lovely picture as we were headed out of the store…

Me and Jake at Costco

I’m sure people wondered WHY in the WORLD I wanted to take a picture with my Costco cart.  Hee hee.  Crazy blogger life, lol.

Anyway, this morning I decided to make a batch of Chocolate Protein Pancakes.  I haven’t made them in a while and I’ve definitely missed them!

I also wanted to top them with the yummy berries I bought…

Chocolate Protein Pancakes with fruit

These were EXTRA tasty because I ate them HOT off of the grill.  The peanut butter melted on there and it was heavenly.  It seriously tasted like a decadent dessert.  YUM!!!

I think I’ll make several batches of protein pancakes so I will have a stash in the freezer after baby is here.

Yes, I’m definitely in the “nesting stage” of pregnancy.  I’ve been trying to stay on top of laundry, keep the house clean, finish up a few projects and stock up the kitchen with food.

I also got my hair done today, which is ESSENTIAL right before a baby is born…

Me after a haircut

Check.

I also have a few other things I NEED to get done before baby arrives.  My daughter and I plan to do our nails tomorrow, I’m waiting for the car seat to arrive in the mail and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Kev and I will be able to make it to the Paul McCartney concert on Thursday night.

Cute Paul

I love PAUL….so much guys!!!  He is such a cutie pie.  I really, really, really hope we get to go.

Soooo, after Thursday the baby is MORE than welcome to come ANY day!

Oh, and I took my 38 weeks pregnant picture a few days ago…

Me 38 weeks pregnant

I’m so grateful I’ve taken pictures almost every week throughout this pregnancy.  I’ve missed a few weeks, but for the most part I’ve documented my pregnancy pretty well.

It’s been “fun” to watch the changes over these past 9 months.  However, I’m VERY much looking forward to watching the changes as I lose the weight too!

Yes, I’m getting ready to embark on “Operation Deflation” and I CAN’T WAIT!

Operation Deflation

Oy.  I think I have my work cut out for me!

I just realized I will be turning 38 AND A HALF in just a few short days!  What in the heck folks???  How did I ever get so freaking old!??  I’ve decided that by the time I hit my 40th birthday (yes, 4-0….seriously, what in THEE heck!??) I want to WILL be in the best shape of my life!

I’m going to hit it hard, kill it, raise the bar and put on my “stubborn cap.”  It will be fun and I CAN’T WAIT!

So, I know right after I have the baby I will be in my own little sleep deprived world, but as soon as I feel somewhat sorta kinda normal (hopefully after a week or two), I’m going to stick to a healthy, yet practical diet.  Here are the things I’m going to be eating…

Breakfast:  Oatmeal, Protein Pancakes, one of my many egg concoctions
Lunch:  Leftovers, big salads, healthy wraps
Dinner:  Any of the dinners from my recipe section, namely Tacos (taco salad), Hawaiian Haystacks, Healthy soups, Stir Fry, Turkey burgers, Grilled Chicken, etc.
Snacks:  veggies, fruit, Greek yogurt, Protein Pudding, Protein Shakes, string cheese/Babybel cheese, nuts, fruit leather, etc.

That’s about it.  I’m just going to try to eat a bunch of fruits and vegetables and eat as “real” as possible.  I’m definitely going to simplify things and make things as easy as I can though.  There will be NO gourmet cooking going on ’round here.

I may allow a treat on the weekends so I can survive my “crazy newborn baby life” though.  We’ll see.

Then, when the baby gets a little bit bigger and life calms down a bit, I’ll really hit it hard.  It will be fun.

Well, it’s getting late and I need to get my sleep.  I’m definitely trying to stock up my sleep reserves!  Have a wonderful night!

I have no doubt that you will make your goal by 40 – and, for the record, 40 isn’t old!!! I am stronger at 44 than ever!
I hope you get to go to the concert Thursday night and then meet your little sweetie in the next few days – so exciting!

I totally can relate. The life of a blogger. Random pictures of your food and shopping. I had the same goal at 40. I think many people’s turning point is 40. I was tired of endless dieting, inactivity and just feeling bad about myself. 40 was the time to be healthy and happy.

I’m so excited for you! Baby on the way soon!

Wow, you’re turning the age I was when I had my FIRST baby! I married and then started a family pretty late. Unfortunately I didn’t have your advice to do my hair and nails before the due date. I love that!
I hope you get to attend the concert tomorrow and enjoy it fully.
It will be fun to see you shrink back into just one person again!

Thanks so much! I’m just hoping to get as much done as possible BEFORE the baby comes because I know I will get NOTHING done for a while after he’s here, lol. 😉 I’m keeping my fingers crossed about the concert too!

I always feel like I buy the entire store when I go to Costco but I love that place! I must say that you look amazing and I would’ve never guessed that you were 38! It’s wonderful that you try to keep a healthy and balanced life. It might be difficult but your determination shows! Can’t wait until your baby arrives! How exciting!!!
