Happy New Year’s Eve to you all! I’m sure glad the world didn’t end because now we get to ring in 2013!! Yay.
I hope you all have some fun things planned tonight. We’re heading up to my parent’s house for their annual New Year’s Eve party in a bit. Very fun.
As 2012 is coming to a close, I realize there are many things I never got to blog about!! If you recall, I took a 2 month blogging hiatus from April-June while I switched to my new blog. Unfortunately, some pretty fun things happened during that time and I never had a chance to blog about them! I’ve also made several recipes that for some reason never got blogged either! Soooo, I thought I would do a quick recap of some of the things I wished I would have blogged about in 2012! Here ya go….
On June 2nd, Kev and I ran The Dirty Dash with a bunch of friends! We had such a fun time and I would highly recommend that “race” to anyone! It’s a 5 mile mud run full of awesome obstacles and lots of mud! However, it was more like a walk because of all the people and mud! In fact, it was more like a 5 mile party! We had a ball!
Our team before the race…
Just starting the race. Kev is in front of me wearing the pink and green socks. He was purposing flinging mud with his feet at us! Awesome. Also, notice the muddy hand print on my neck?? Ya, that was Kev too. 😉
Our team after the race. We had so much fun!! We paid to have someone power wash us after it was over. I also took 3 showers when I got home and still had mud in my ears and under my nails. Ewww.

On June 9th, Kev and I ran the Sawtooth Relay race with Kev’s brother, his wife, their friend and my sister Holly. The Sawtooth Relay is a 62 mile, 6 person relay race in the beautiful Sawtooth mountains in Idaho. It’s in the Sun Valley area and is just a gorgeous place! We’ve ran this relay race several times with members of Kev’s family and it’s always a good time!
Kev and I getting ready to run our first legs! I started us off at 5:00 AM.
It was such a fun race, but this year it SNOWED! Crazy. The first half of the race is all up hill and the last half is all down hill. The snow got worse as we headed up the mountain!
My sister had the hardest leg; 5+ miles straight UP HILL. It was such a steep incline…and she did it all in a mega snowstorm! I had the 6 mile DOWNHILL leg which was awesome, but freaky. I had to run on the shoulder of the road and it was steep, snow-packed and icy! Also, traffic was still driving by pretty close to me and pretty fast! It was crazy!! Man! Overall, it was a fun race though and I had a great time!!
Left: my sister running up the crazy mountain! Upper right: Kev running in decent weather! Lower right; me running the down hill in the snow!
Our team at the finish line…
Kev called Holly and I the “Great Outdoorsmen” because we loved the whole cold, snowy, dirty, outdoorsy part of it all, lol!

On June 20-23rd (yes, our June was insane!), Kev and I went to Lake Powell with a bunch of friends in our neighborhood! Lake Powell is a GIANT lake on the border of Utah and Arizona. It is the most beautiful, picturesque setting you can possibly imagine! We had a great time camping, boating, wake boarding (my first time ever!), hiking, swimming and just exploring the amazing scenery!
We went on a fun hike at “Forgotten Canyon” to see some neat ruins. We had to wade through the water (sometimes waist deep) to get there. It was awesome!
Top left: some of the amazing scenery in Lake Powell!
Top right: my friend Sharon and I enjoying the boat ride! Loved it!
Bottom left: Kev and some of the guys cliff jumping! Ya, Kev is the “spread eagle” guy!
Bottom right: A bunch of us swimming. We had such a fun time!
Kev wake boarding…
Me, wake boarding! I had never been wake boarding and I’d only been water skiing twice! I am so NOT coordinated, but I did it and LOVED it! I just wish I was good at it!
We had such a fun summer!!

I’ve also had a bunch of recipes that somehow didn’t get blogged about! We canned a bunch of things; pickles, jalapenos, spaghetti sauce, salsa and pizza sauce and I only blogged about the pizza sauce!! Dang it.
I also never told y’all how to make zucchini noodles!
I loved these during the height of zucchini season! I’ll share the recipe next season since it’s a little irrelevant now. 😉
I also have the yummiest turkey burger recipe I never blogged about! It is the perfect summer meal, so I’ll wait to share that recipe until next year too!
We served it topped with tzatziki, and with green bean fries and cauliflower potatoes!
Well, there ya go. Those are the most significant things of 2012 that never got blogged about!! So sad!
I hope you all have a wonderful night! Happy happy New Year to you all! xoxo

I’m actually from Southern Idaho! We just to camp in the Sawtooths ALL the time growing up! What a beautiful/challenging race, eek! One of my 2013 resolutions is to do a mud run with my husband. Happy New Years! 🙂

You are killing me with these foods…I might just have to call you and get these recipes sooner 🙂 So I am only eating veggies, fruits, proteins, and beans pretty much…no grains at all, no dairy, no soy, no rice…yep….CRAZY! So I am really excited about the zucchini noodles. I am wishing I was there to go on all of those fun runs!!
Melanie says
Poor Kesa!! I’m so sorry about your diet restrictions, dang it. I hope you can figure out how to fix it. 🙁 I am sending you an email right now with the recipes. If I think of anything else that’s “legal” for your diet, I’ll send it your way too. I wish you were down here in the lower 48!!!
