Well Happy 2021!!!
Hallelujah, right?? Actually although 2020 was crazy, it was also a really good year of growth and learning for me. I’m very grateful for that.
I’m just hoping that the whole world can normalize a bit in 2021!
We had a nice Christmas. I was really grateful that this Christmas season wasn’t quite as hectic. It was so nice to not just go, go, go the whole month of December. I love the magic of Christmas and I’m so glad we got to enjoy it a little more with the simplicity of this year.
I really enjoyed just spending time at home, sitting by the Christmas tree and feeling the spirit of the season….
I love the wonderful coziness of our “Christmas home.”
And this is my favorite Nativity set that Kev bought me years ago….
Christmas is magaical!
We were able to go up to Oregon to spend Christmas with Kev’s mom. We hadn’t seen her in a long time, so it was so nice to be with her. We were also able to spend some time with Kev’s brother and his family and it was wonderful to see them!
Here are all of my boys Christmas morning…
We’re just missing our sweet daughter who is on a church mission in Portland, Oregon right now. We were able to talk with her though and were even able to watch her open the presents we sent her!
Isn’t technology awesome!??? I’m so grateful to be able to see my daughter’s face when we talk with her. What a blessing!
Well, although I love Christmas so much, I’m always a little glad when it’s over. I’ve learned to really appreciate the “chill month” that January is, literally and figuratively.
It’s nice to slow down and I always love to refocus on my own life and the goals I have for myself.
I always strive to live a somewhat healthy lifestyle all of the time, but I really love to tighten things up in January. It just feels like a nice reset mentally and physically.
I’ll share my specific health goals in a sec, but I thought I’d also share a few of my other goals. 2020 has been a year of deep thinking and reflecting for me and I’ve recognized some things I’d like to work on this coming year…
- Spend more time reading
- Study my scriptures more
- Use my time more wisely, cherish every day
- Love more fully and purposefully
- Get out of my comfort zone more!
I know life is all about living and learning! I don’t ever want to become complacent or stagnant. I always want to be challenging myself and striving to improve myself!
So, as for my health goals….I’m starting them tomorrow! I have five specific goals that I will be working on for the next 30 days. I’m going to really kick it up a notch and then I’ll tone it down just a bit after the 30 days are over. But for the next 30 days, I’m going to:
This 30 day challenge is all about improving my physical health. Sometimes I like to incorporate some emotional health goals too, but for the next 30 days I’m really just going to commit to these physical health goals!
I’d love any of you to join me if you’d like to! This is just a self-directed challenge. I won’t be organizing and leading an official group, but I will be talking about it on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
I also created a 30 day tracking sheet you can use if you want to.
This one has the next 30 days filled in on the sheet,
AND
This one I left blank so you can start your challenge whenever you’d like to,
I purposefully kept this challenge very simple so that you can make it your own! Don’t overthink it.
You decide what “real” food is for you. I don’t think I need to spell out what junk food is. I’m just going to make an effort to eat more whole foods, specifically a lot more fruits and vegetables.
I’m going to stay away from obvious forms of sugar. I’m not going to obsess and read every label. I’m just going to stay away from candy, soda, cake, cookies, etc. I know what things have a lot of refined sugar in them….so I’m not going to eat those things!
I think the water and sleep goals are pretty self explanatory.
The exercise goal is also one that you can make your own! We are all at different levels physically, so you do what works for you!
I would recommend exercising deliberately. Don’t count things like cleaning the house, gardening, etc. Although those are still good things, I would strive to actually exercise! You should be deliberately exercising and should sweat and get your heart rate up. I would also recommend strength training as your form of exercise at least 3 times a week.
So there ya go. Again, don’t overthink it! I’m just going to take it one day at a time and do my best! I know as I work on these goals, my physical health will improve and in return my emotional and mental health will improve as well and then my life will improve!
I hope you all are doing well and I hope you have a fabulous 2021!!!
