Today is the last day of school for my kiddos. Yay…..I think, lol!
It will be so nice to sleep in a little, chill out and not have to worry about homework or driving the kids a million places! However, I’m a little worried about keeping the kids entertained, keeping the house from going to pot and having the kids (+ a bunch of extras) running in and out of the house all day long.
Oy.
I love summer though and really want my kids to live it up and make some wonderful childhood memories!
I went to my little cutie’s Kindergarten graduation the other day…
I am not a fan of my kids getting older. Sniff, sniff.
This little child of mine is SOOOO tenderhearted, sweet, loving and gentle. I could just eat him up every single day, all day long! It absolutely kills me that he is growing up so fast.
Seriously kills me. Sigh.
It was a cute graduation though and I had to fight back the tears the whole time. I also told him that he’s still my “baby” and will always be my “baby” his whole life long until he’s 105 years old.
He said he’s fine with that.
My 10 year old also got his official cast put on a couple days ago. I was the first one to sign it, so I took full liberty. 🙂
He’s a self-declared “mama’s boy” (he still lets me kiss and hug him in front of his friends!), so he was just fine with my artwork.

I ordered some fun things from Amazon the other day and they finally came in the mail!
Yay! I’ve been wanting to try Sunwarrior Protein Powder forever! I’ve just been waiting to finish a bunch of the other proteins I had first. The chocolate protein I ordered is made from brown rice and the vanilla protein is made from pea protein, cranberry protein and hemp seed protein. Cool.
I also decided to buy some cacao powder just for kicks. It’s pretty much just like cocoa powder (which is healthy too!), but it’s less processed so it maintains more antioxidants and nutrition.
When I first got into health and fitness and completely changed my lifestyle (about 4 years ago), I thought all protein powders were healthy.
I’ve since learned that is definitely not the case. Sadly, there are a bunch of proteins out there that contain pesticides, weird chemicals and even heavy metals. Yes, HEAVY METALS. In fact, Consumer Reports found some pretty startling results when they tested some protein powders. You can click here for the article.
Weird….and WHY in the world would a company feel the need to add heavy metal to food???
No idea.
I also try to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible and a lot of protein powders are artificially sweetened.
Anyway, there are a LOT of healthy and high quality protein powders out there. However, you just have to know what to look for. Here are some things I look for in a protein…
- Relatively short ingredient list (you don’t want to see a mega long list of obscure ingredients!)
- High protein/low calorie per serving (I was thrilled to see that each scoop of Sunwarrior provides about 16-20 grams of protein and only 80-100ish calories!)
- Non-GMO and no artificial sweeteners (I love to use protein powders sweetened with Stevia.)
- No heavy metals, chemicals and weird crap.
I also love that Tosca Reno (mega health guru and author of the Eat Clean Diet) uses and recommends Sunwarrior. I completely trust her opinion.
Anyway, after I researched Sunwarrior, I was thoroughly impressed, but hoped it would taste good too!
I’m happy to say it tastes great!
I made a batch of my Protein Packed Pancakes (vanilla) and Chocolate Protein Pancakes and they both turned out awesome. In fact, I don’t think they’ve ever tasted better. Yum!
I also mixed it into my oatmeal and made some protein pudding (topped with pecans, unsweetened coconut and chia seeds)…
I even tried a vanilla version of my protein pudding and it was awesome (topped with almonds, bananas and chocolate chips!)
It’s been great in my protein shakes too…
The only thing I’ve noticed is I’ve had to add a little more liquid (milk, water, etc.) to all of my recipes. I even had to add a little milk to my protein pudding, which I’ve never done before, but it made it so creamy!
I also experimented a bit and made some healthy No-Bake Protein Cookies too…
They turned out awesome. I’ll share the recipe tomorrow. 😉
Well, my kidlets are all home from school now and are ready to par-tay, so I gotta roll. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

Sun Warrior is pretty close to being organic. The company has told me that it is – but, it’s not labeled that way, yet. It’s very good. I prefer the Sun Warrior BLEND in vanilla or chocolate. I first learned about it – from a Vita-Mix person at Wholefoods. He recommended it to me a few years ago.

I’ve really loved Sunwarrior so much! I think I’ll stick with the Blend from now on too. It’s wonderful!

Your sons are so cute and I hear you on the growing up too fast. I’m just dying with how fast my daughter is growing. I always ask her ” where’s my baby” and she says “I’m right here!” It’s so cute. Anyways, you really really should try Epic Protein Powder sold by Sprout Living. They really are the best I’ve ever tried and they are the least gritty brown rice powders and they use NO sweeteners or gums, just superfoods like Lucuma and mesquite to sweeten the powder. That is what sold me. That’s what I use to make my Snickerdoodle Protein Balls that are amazing. I’m obsessed with their “Vanilla Lucuma” flavor! They are raw, organic, non gmo, gluten- free, sugar/sweetener free and taste awesome.

Your little girl sounds like such a doll!! I’ll have to look into that Epic Protein Powder! It sounds amazing. Thanks for the tip!
