I went to my favorite crazy hard class at the gym this morning.
Wait, somehow “crazy hard” doesn’t seem to do it justice. It was grueling, tortuous and unbelievably crazy hard.
That’s better.
Seriously, I’m so amazed and grateful for all of my classes and instructors. They push me WAY harder than I could ever push myself. I love it.
This morning we ended up doing 150 pushups (25 at a time.) We did them with one hand on the bench and one of the floor. Then we switched hands. Make sense? It was tough. I had to do about half of them on my knees and they still killed me!
We also did a bunch of one legged dead lifts that I know I’ll be feelin’ tomorrow. It was crazy.
Oh, and today was my “free day” (for Body for Life.) I really love that once a week I get a day off. I haven’t gone crazy, but it’s nice to just eat what I want and not worry about how many carbs or protein is in it.
I didn’t pig out, but I did have a bowl of cereal (Wheat Chex mixed with Pumpkin Flax Granola), a homemade roll with honey and pizza for dinner. It was wonderful and I am thoroughly stuffed.
On my way to the gym this morning, I ate three small Coconut Chia Seed Protein Balls.
They are so good, but I haven’t been eating them lately because I tend to overdose on them. They were the perfect pre-workout snack though.
After my workout, I was starving for some reason. I was happy to find this in my purse…
An Atkins Chocolate Peanut Butter Meal bar. These actually taste pretty dang good. They are high in protein (17g) and low in sugar (1g of sugar, 11g sugar alcohols) too, however they have a big long list of mysterious ingredients. 🙁
I don’t love store bought protein bars because of the huge mysterious ingredient list, but I do love the convenience and portability they offer. I grabbed these bars on the fly just before I started Body for Life. I knew I wanted to have easy and convenient options available.
I should have bought some healthier ones. 🙁
There are a few healthy protein bars out on the market that I like. I really love Kind and LARABAR brands as far as nutrition goes, but they don’t seem to fill me up. I’ve been wanting to try Quest bars too.
They look amazing! They have a decent ingredient list, a ton of fiber, 20ish grams of protein and only one gram of sugar. Awesome. I will try them and let you all know what I think. 😉
I also love Jamie Eason’s homemade protein bar recipes. They are all very yummy!
Anyway, on the way home from the gym I stopped at TJ Maxx for a sec to get me some new sunglasses. I don’t like to spend a bunch of money on sunglasses (usually $10-$12), because I always seem to break them!
Or maybe they break because they’re cheap. 😉
Anyway, I decided to try TJ Maxx to see if I could find a better quality pair that was still cheap.
I’m so glad I went there! AND, I will probably only buy my sunglasses there from now on. They had a wonderful selection of good quality, designer brand sunglasses and most of them were only $10-$15! Yay.
I bought myself some Oscar de la Renta ones for only $9.99. I also decided to get myself a sunglasses case (only $5.99) so hopefully they won’t break.
Ya, I know this sunglasses case is very cheesy, but it was the least cheesy one they had that was still big enough to fit my sunglasses.
I love them!

Last night I went on a quick date with Kev. We went out to dinner at Village Inn (random, yes.) Kev ordered breakfast food (his fav!)…
I ordered a big ol’ Cobb Salad.
It was super yummy and filling. It was only 490 calories, which I thought was pretty good considering it had chicken, bacon, eggs, blue cheese and avocado on it. It also had 33 grams of protein and only 13 grams of carbs, which I’m sure came from the tomato and avocado. I also topped it with a little bit of ranch dressing.
Ya know, when I saw this picture of me I thought, “Man, I’m gettin’ old!!” So sad. Then I told Kev it was probably appropriate that my hoodie said “Cougars”, huh?
I wish I could just stay 37 forever. It’s a good age.
Anyway, after our little “date”, we ran home and decided to take the kiddos to get a drink at Maverick. We wanted them to have a fun Friday night too.
My drink of choice was a caffeine free Diet Coke with two limes. It was great. I’m not a huge pop drinker, but it’s fun to get one once in a while. My three year old was thrilled to get an Icee and my daughter decided to get some frozen yogurt instead.
They loved it. On the way home, I snapped this pic of my little sweetie…
Feetie jammies, big ol’ headphones and those cute little lips are just too much. He’s such a doll.
Well, it’s gettin’ late so I better jam. I also need to figure out one more fun thing to eat before this day is over, hee hee.
I’ll leave you with this dang cute video clip featuring Ellie’s new September “Down to Earth” line. SO dang cute!! I’m lovin’ the jackets and all the cute tanks. So fun! This new collection will launch on Wednesday, September 11th.
I hope you all have a great night!

I love reading your posts! They always make me laugh. I have been wanting to try quest bars too! I’ve heard good things about them. I totally never thought about getting designer sunglasses at TJ max. I’m totally going there. I’m the same way…mine only cost $10. I refuse to spend a lot of something like sunglasses. I did that once a few years back..spent way too much and then lost them. Never again-lesson learned! Your kids are adorable!
