Happy Monday to you all! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.
We had a busy weekend. On Saturday morning, Kev and I went to a funeral for our good friend’s little brother. He was only 29 years old and died suddenly. It was from natural causes, but they aren’t entirely sure what happened. It was very tragic, but the funeral was so beautiful. They have a very strong and tight-knit family and I was so touched by the beautiful tribute they gave to him.
After the funeral, Kev and I decided to get some lunch at Blue Lemon.
Blue Lemon is one of my very favorite restaurants, but it’s not very close to our house. Sooo, when we happen to be in the “Blue Lemon” area, I love to go there.
I got the Grilled Balsamic Chicken Panini (balsamic glazed grilled chicken, with sliced tomatoes, grilled onions, garlic, peppers and herbs, provolone cheese and lemon pesto aioli on grill-pressed sour dough bread) and Kev got the Roasted Turkey Sandwich (fresh roasted turkey, provolone cheese, lemon herb smashed avocados, lemon pesto aioli, crisp lettuce, vine-ripened tomato and sweet red onions on white or wheat ciabatta bread).
I also got a spinach and pear side salad and Kev got some tomato soup. Everything was SO YUMMY! Oh, and Kev and I decided to share our sandwiches, so we each got one half of each kind.
BTW, I was having a bad hair day, so look at my food and ignore my hair, K??
So yummy! I was so happy we got to go there.

Kev and I planned to go to the gym later on, but never did…..so we decided to go on a run that night! It was almost 10:00 and it was dark and a little rainy, but we decided to go anyway!
Just as we were heading out the door, I said, “Wait, we need to take some pictures!”
So we did.
(Sorry this one is blurry; we have low-budget photographers. ;-))
Then Kev decided to make fun of my incessant picture taking.
Ha ha ha. I laughed and laughed and laughed….and I’m sure he didn’t think the pics would end up on the blog.
But they did.
So there.
A blogger’s life (and a blogger’s spouse’s life) is pretty rough, lol.
Anyway, we had a great run and even took Jimmer along with us (you can see him waiting patiently on the stairs!)
When we first started running, it was lightly raining and it actually felt really good. However, after a mile or so, it starting coming down pretty hard and then we saw a flash of lightening, followed by a HUGE clap of thunder right by us.
Yikes! We decided to turn around and head home. Sooo, our run only ended up being about 2 miles…super lame. But, I’m still glad we went AND we had a fun time.
When we got home, I decided to make myself a “post-run” chocolate mug cake.
I topped it with a little Justin’s Maple Almond Butter and it was so good!

Kev and I have decided we are going to eat EXTRA healthy this week. I love setting goals and making plans; it helps to keep me motivated.
Soooo, we are only going to be eating the following items;
- fruits
- veggies
- lean protein sources (chicken, turkey, fish (but we don’t like fish), beans, eggs, etc.)
- green smoothies
- protein shakes
- Greek yogurt
- And other similar things.
We are going to be avoiding;
- processed foods
- sugar
- fried foods
- grains
- all dairy except Greek yogurt
I think that’s it. Pretty simple, eh? We are only going to be doing this Monday-Friday. I would like to do it longer, but we will be staying with Kev’s family this weekend. AND, It’s very very tough to eat a strict diet when you’re staying at someone else’s house.
Soooo, we’re still going to try to eat well over the weekend, but we’ll just have to play it by ear.
I really like to tighten it up sometimes and eat ULTRA healthy for a short time. It just makes me feel good and I think it helps to cleanse the body.
Sooo, I’ll let you know how it goes!
Well, that’s all for now. I gotta go get all of my “to-do’s” done! xoxo

Haha! Love the picture of you and your husband ;). Yes..such is the life of the blogger’s family’s life. My sister says she always has to look her best when she’s around me now. But they’re extremely supportive and for that I’m grateful. I’m sure you are as well. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s brother. He will be greatly missed, I’m sure. Hope your healthy eating week will be a HUGE success! So proud of you 😉

Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement! That makes me laugh what your sister said. I know all my friends and family just expect me to take pictures everywhere we go, lol!

I’m so glad you were there for Paula. My heart aches for them. And I love Blue Lemon. I’ve only been there once a few years ago but it is super yummy and I feel good about what I’ve eaten. Miss you guys!

It was so good to see Steve, Paula and their family. I just wish it could have been under different circumstances. Paula and I were both saying how we wish we could all be together like we were in RI! I miss you my friend. Next time you’re down this way, let’s get together and go to Blue Lemon!

Hi Melanie. I would like to know whether you did manage to lose some weight as a side-effect of eating those healthy foods you have listed in your article.
