I went to Costco the other night with Kev and bought a huge ol’ box of RAISINS!
As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to have them! They looked so good to me. Weird!? Yes folks, I must be pregnant.
I sorta kinda like raisins, but I usually don’t buy them in mass quantities. Hee hee. The strangest things have sounded so good to me lately. AND, some of my favorite things sound disgusting.
Crazy.
Anyway, I decided to make a big bowl of Cinnamon Raisin Protein Oatmeal for breakfast this morning and it was awesome!
I really love oatmeal because it’s yummy, nutritious and fills me up for hours! Those squishy little raisins tasted phenomenal in there as well.

Well, I really enjoyed my birthday weekend! We did a lot of fun things, but sadly I felt pretty darn crappy. 🙁
You know how I said I was starting to “feel better” last week? Well….ya….it didn’t last long. I was super nauseous and so MEGA tired all weekend long! So sad. 🙁
However, I’m 13 1/2 weeks along now and I usually start to feel better around week 14 or 15. Believe me when I say I am COUNTING down the days! I’ve already decided I’m going to throw a small party when I officially feel better. AND, it will definitely include some of my favorite foods that have sounded so dang gross to me the past couple months.
Anyway, I had fun celebrating my birthday all weekend long. My birthday was on Sunday, but we did most of the Par-Taying on Friday and Saturday. I had fun on Sunday too, but we like to keep the Sabbath day a day of worship, rest and time spent with family. 😉
Anyway, on Friday night we took the kids out to see the new Lego movie.
It was SUCH a cute show! I loved it. It was definitely a movie that both kids and adults can enjoy.
I also loved the main song, “Everything is Awesome,” but I couldn’t get it out of my head all weekend long. I literally woke up in the morning with the song stuck in my head three days in a row!
Since I’m so nice, I decided to share the song with all of you! Now you can sing it for days as well….
You’re welcome. 🙂
After the movie, we took the kids out to dinner at The Brick Oven. We had fun and the kids loved it, but sadly, it didn’t taste good to me at all. 🙁
Sigh.
I ordered the little pizza/pasta/salad buffet thingy and it was great. The food was wonderful and great quality, but my poor stomach was so DANG sick.
Yes, I felt bad for me.
We still had a great night and I loved spending time with my sweet family. 🙂

On Saturday Kev told me we could do “whatever I wanted to do!” Woo hoo…sounds like fun right!?
Sadly, I was such a mega tired party pooper that I decided we needed to take a “birthday nap.” Soooo, I climbed into bed with some of my favorite people + dog and we all took a wonderful nap!
It was actually quite heavenly.
I had a lot of fun ideas planned for the rest of the day, but I felt just like a giant slug. We ended up dinking around at home and finally around 8:30 that night I told Kev we should just go out to dinner and on a quiet drive.
Geesh, a nap, late dinner and a quiet drive!??? I sound like an old lady! I just turned 38, but you’d think I was 108!
We decided to get some dinner at Zupas. Their food always tastes good to me. I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich and a small Vermont Blueberry Maple salad and everything tasted great.
I think Kev got the Cauliflower soup and a Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini.
We also stopped at Baskin Robbins on the way home and picked up my ALL-TIME favorite birthday cake….a Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream cake. YUM!
I hadn’t had their ice cream in YEARS because one small bite will make you gain 10 pounds instantly, but I decided to splurge a bit.
Sadly, we didn’t end up eating my cake until Monday because I just felt too gross on my birthday. 🙁 It tasted great to me on Monday though and I LOVED it!
On Sunday (my actual birthday), Kev made us all pancakes, eggs and turkey bacon and it was so good!
Kev also got me a few little presents and some balloons. What a sweat pea.
He got me a gift certificate to a spa (my feet seriously need a pedicure!) and some of my favorite treats.
I must say I’m usually a BIG water drinker, but water has sounded SO GROSS to me with this pregnancy! I still make myself drink it, but I’ve also enjoyed the occasional Caffeine Free Diet Coke to settle my tummy. It’s been a life saver.
Later on, we went up to my parent’s house and spent the night hanging out with them and my sister and her family. I love these guys!
Well, that’s my birthday in a nutshell. Even though I felt terrible, I still had a wonderful weekend spending time with my favorite people in the world!
Oh, and just so ya know I am planning to kick it up big time (health-wise) as soon as I feel better. I’m going to come up with an official plan and try to stay as healthy and active as possible until this little baby is born. I can’t wait!
Well, that’s all folks. Have a great night!

Happy birthday! I’m so glad you had such a great weekend even if you didn’t feel the best! Your family is so wonderful!
I love that song from the Lego movie! Everything is Awesome is my theme song. I’m declaring it now!

I think I will go to bed with that Lego song I my head. Lol. Sorry to hear you were feeling under the weather. At least you still managed to celebrate with family and cake. And there is nothing wrong with a heavenly nap.

I know…I can’t get that Lego song out of my head either! Even though I felt pretty crummy, I still had a good birthday and I LOVED the nap!
Amber says
First of all, I’d like some cake. Yum.
Second of all, AHHH! Thanks for getting that song stuck in my head. AGAIN. We went to see the movie Monday.

I really, really loved that cake! I know, I finally got that Lego song out of my head and then I listened to it on my blog again….Everything is Awesome!!

OH, you poor thing – I’m sorry that you are still feeling so crummy!!! My 2nd pregnancy I felt like that and was the same way about drinking water – I tried some of the flavored waters and that helped a little but…
I hope that the 14 week mark is the magical time when you start to feel better.
I have to say – even not feeling well you always look awesome!!!
Melanie says
Thanks. It’s so tough to be so sick for so long! I’m just so grateful the end is near….I seriously have forgotten how it feels to feel normal. 😉
GiGi Eats Celebrities says
I am actually kind of concerned about you not feeling well for so long. What are you symptoms today? Have you seen a doctor? Do you think it could be food allergy/intolerance related? I really want to help you! I know when I eat eggs, I feel like I have been hit by a bus three or four days later!!! 🙁
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYY! I want to see the LEGO MOVIE 😀 I MUST I MUST!
Melanie says
I am 100% perfectly fine, I’m just pregnant! I felt just like this with all of my other pregnancies and it’s just one of those things I have to muddle through. I’m expecting to feel better within the next week or so and I can hardly wait! I loved the Lego movie too…it is a must see!
The vegan 8 says
I’m so sorry you are still struggling to feel better :(. I really hope that changes in the next week. You have the most beautiful family ever! The pics just made me smile. That’s so sweet you all took a nap together. Isn’t that the best? Snuggling with my daughter….there’s just nothing better!
Melanie says
I know!! I’m really getting tired of feeling so sick and I can’t imagine feeling well again. I’m SOOOOO happy it should be ending soon. I seriously can’t wait. I LOVE taking an afternoon nap, especially snuggled up with the kiddos. LOVE!
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Sorry you felt bad on your birthday. Hope you will start feeling better soon.
However, a nap and quiet dinner out sound amazing too me.
Melanie says
Thanks, I’m hoping to feel better in the next week or so and I CAN’T WAIT!! The nap and dinner were so nice.
Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit says
My, my, you poor thing! That’s certainly not the way to spend a birthday! I call for a re-do as soon as you’re feeling up to it! That cake looks simply amazingggggggg.
Melanie says
Thanks so much. Ooooo, I love your idea of a redo!! I think I just may have to do that! 😉
