Well hello friends! Happy Christmas Eve!
Oh how I love Christmas Eve, Christmas and the whole holiday season! It really is magical and I just love everything about it! Sadly, it’s not quite as awesome as an adult because we have to worry about the whole “doing” and financing of it all. Ha ha.
It kind of puts a damper on the Christmas spirit.
It’s sure fun to have kids and to relive the magic of Christmas through them though! It makes me feel like a kid again.
I ran around yesterday with my daughter finishing up all of the to-do’s. I’m exhausted, but I’m so glad to have it all done! Yesterday I:
- Returned something to Kohl’s
- Stopped by the Dollar store to buy Christmas bags for gifts and a few random Christmas cards.
- Stopped by Walmart to pick up a whole lotta random stuff
- Stopped by Costco to pick up some more of our Christmas cards since I ran out. Sadly, I only needed like 5-6 more cards, but I had to order 50! It’s okay though, they’re fairly cheap and I like to have extras for various things.
- Stopped by Subway to eat!
- Stopped by another Walmart because I’m looking for one last gift for my 5 year old that I couldn’t find! I finally found what I was looking for at Office Depot today. Yay!
- Ran to the mall to return some stuff and buy a few last minute things
- Stopped by Great Harvest bread to buy neighbor gifts
- Delivered all of the neighbor gifts and gifts to my kid’s church teachers and scout leaders
I think that’s it!!! Phew! I was so dang tired! BUT, I’m done. And I’m sorta, kinda ready for Christmas to be over now!
Oh, my daughter and I did stop to get a massage in the massage chairs at the mall yesterday. It was wonderful and just what this tired Christmas momma needed!
Even though running all of the errands was a pain in the bee-hind, strangely, I kinda love the Christmas crowds and the hustle and bustle. I think it adds to the Christmas spirit and I love the energy. Am I weird? Probably.
I’m not a fan of the traffic though. Blah! I’m not a road rage type person, but the Christmas season brings it outta me! Auuuugh.
I’ve also been loving the Christmas spirit in our home. I love the calm feeling the glow of the Christmas tree and the Christmas lights bring. It makes me just want to hang out in our family room all day long and all night long!
It’s interesting though, as much as I love, love, love the feeling of our Christmas home, it always seems like the day after Christmas I’m more than ready to clean it up and put it all away! After Christmas is over, I always feel motivated to clean, de-junk and get everything in order!
That’s kind of how Healthy Living is for me around Christmas time too. I love to let loose a bit and enjoy some of the wonderful Christmas food and treats! It’s part of soaking up and living up the holiday season! But then, after Christmas is over, I love to get back to work and hit it hard again.
I gotta say that THIS is my very favorite Christmas treat! MAN! My friend actually gave me a recipe for this, but I can’t find it. I think that link is very similar to my friend’s recipe though. It’s so dang good. I’ve heard some people call it Christmas Crack and I think that’s a very appropriate name for it. Ha ha!
Some day, I’ll make it and take some pictures and share my friend’s recipe. It’s a keeper. It makes a HUGE batch, so I don’t like to make it unless I have lots of people around to help me eat it! Otherwise, I will keep eating it, and eating it, and eating it….until it’s gone!!! Ha!
So, I think I’m gonna make it tomorrow and bring it to my mom’s house so everyone can help me eat it. YUM!
Oh, and here’s another friggin’ yummy treat that I couldn’t stop eating….
I got this stuff at Costco and it was SO GOOD! We got one for Kev’s mom, so I thought we should also buy one for ourselves to make sure it was good. Ha ha! It was good!
Soooo, this Christmas I’ve definitely enjoyed some yummy food and missed a few workouts, but I’ve still tried to keep it all in check as well. My ultimate goal is to enjoy the holiday season, but not gain any weight in the process. I think I’ve done that. Yay!
Even though I haven’t been eating perfectly, I’ve tried to not eat ALL THE FOOD and I’ve tried to keep the calories in check. I also like to have a homemade protein shake or green smoothie every day to make sure I’m still getting in some good things too!
I LOVE my homemade protein shakes so much!
They really are a game changer for me and make healthy living and weight loss so much easier! If you want to know more about my protein shakes, you can click here to read a post I wrote a while ago all about them. I love them!
I’ve also still been trying to fit in my workouts when I can.
I’m so grateful I’ve been teaching two classes a week (Strength Training and HIIT) at my church with my friends in the neighborhood because then I’m guaranteed to at least get a couple of good workouts in each week.
I usually fit in 2-4 additional workouts each week at my gym, but last week I only did the two classes I teach because I was runnin’ around like a crazy lady!
So, even though I’ve been living high medium on the hog the past few weeks, I don’t regret it. It’s been fun. But, just like I’m always ready to clean up Christmas after it’s over, I’m also MORE THAN READY to clean up my healthy lifestyle after Christmas is over too!
I think the New Year comes at the perfect time. I’m always more than ready to hit it hard, clean up the diet, set new goals and ramp up my healthy living. It’s so fun and I’m looking forward to it!
SO, I am going to organize a free healthy challenge that will start January 6th. I invite all of you to join and do it with me!! Yay! I still gotta finish organizing all of the details, but I will share them all with you as soon as I get it done.
Well, I’m gonna wrap this up so I can enjoy the Christmas Eve festivities with my family. We are going to enjoy a roast beef and mashed potatoes dinner, sing some Christmas carols, open up new pajamas, talk about various things, read Luke 2 and probably go on a Christmas drive to enjoy the lights.
I love Christmas Eve.
I hope you all have some fun things planned tonight too. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow!!! I love you all! xoxo
