Well, it’s been a rough couple days!
My poor little 4 year old got the stomach flu Tuesday night and was up all….night….long! Poor little guy and poor little me. 🙂
I ended up getting sick yesterday too. Joy. I just felt achy, nauseous and blah all day long. Then, last night my 13 year old son got sick. Consequently, the three of us all stayed home from Trick-or-Treating last night! Gasp! So sad, I know! Sooooo sad. 🙁
Ya, I’m still trying to come to grips with it. I am such a little kid when it comes to Halloween. I look forward to it every year and I absolutely LOVE going Trick-or-Treating with my kids. I love, love, love it! I can’t believe I missed it!
Dang it, I’m so sad.
Do you know what makes it even worse??? The weather was absolutely perfect last night. Seriously perfect. Auuughh.
Ok, I’ll stop boo-hooing now. Oh, and by the way my sweet little 2 year old is sick now. The flu is the worst. Yuck.
Anyway, here are some pics from our Halloween…
My daughter was a hot pink glamour witch this year. She actually borrowed the cape and hat from me! She’s getting too old….I can’t believe she can wear my stuff!
Here’s a picture from 2005 with me as the pink witch…
Yes, my sweet little “Dorothy” daughter is giant now. In fact, she went Trick-or-Treating without us (the horror!) for the first time this year! Sigh.
Kev took my 9 year old (the zombie), his friend (the jester) and my sweet 2 year old (the hulk) Trick-or-Treating,
The rest of us sick folk just laid in bed watching TV all night. Yes, I feel bad for us.
On a brighter note, I lost 3 1/2 pounds! Woo hoo! Let’s hope it stays.
Moving on…..
I’m still goin’ strong with this little cleanse thing. It’s really getting old, but I just try not to think about it. I must confess, I’ve let myself have a few Halloween treats the past couple of days.
I thought about resisting, but then I thought, “It’s Halloween dang it, and I want to have some Halloween treats!”
So, I did.
I didn’t go crazy. I’ve probably had a few mini candy bars and some Tootsie rolls and that’s it. Oh, and I did snitch a couple bites of my son’s cupcake the other day too.
Not too bad. I enjoyed myself and I don’t regret it. AND, I’m not allowing myself to have any more!
Speaking of Halloween treats, here are a few tips to help minimize the Halloween damage…
- I DO NOT buy any Halloween candy until October 29th or 30th! If I buy it any sooner than that, it ends up calling my name and I end up eating it!
- I only buy candy that doesn’t tempt me! I am a sucker for anything chocolate….so I don’t buy it! I buy all the chewy, gummy stuff. I can resist it all day long.
- After Halloween, I keep the kids stashes far away from me! Out of sight, out of mind!
- I let my kids enjoy their Halloween candy for 2-3 days and then I offer them cash incentives if they let me throw it away. Usually, they are happy to earn some easy money….and I’m happy to get rid of the candy!
- If I’m going to a Halloween party or anywhere with loads of sugary goodness around, I eat before I go! If I’m not hungry, I can easily resist. BUT, if I AM hungry…watch out!
Well, that’s all I can think of for now!
I’m sure you all had a better Halloween than me! I can’t believe Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. Crazy!
I hope you all have a wonderful night! xoxo
