I Survived My Crazy Week + I Feel Huge

March 18, 201414 Comments

Well guys, I survived my crazy week last week!

Just barely.

We were seriously running from one thing to the next and the next all week long.  It was insane and I was so dang exhausted.  I’m really glad it’s over.  Yay.

I was able to get ONE run in last week amidst the craziness….

Me on a run with beautiful mountains in the background

Don’t mind the cell phone shadow over my face.  Geesh.  It was so dang sunny that I couldn’t even tell what I was taking a picture of. 😉

I have absolutely loved running outside lately.  It’s such good therapy for the mind and body.  I only ran about 3 miles, but it was lovely.

I made it to the gym ONE time last week as well…

I just did some free weights and machines, but it was killer.

I wish I would’ve been able to workout more last week, but somethin’ had to give.

**********************

Part of the reason we’ve been so crazy lately is that it’s birthday season at our house!  My daughter’s birthday was last weekend (she’s now a teenager!), my 5 year old turned 6 yesterday (sniff, sniff) and my cute 3 year old will be 4 in a couple weeks.

I really don’t like this whole “kids getting older” business.

Last Friday, my daughter had a fun birthday party.  She invited a few friends and we took them to Red Robin for dinner.

I left all of my bigger boys at home, but at the last minute we decided to take this cute little guy with us.  As you can see, he was in heaven with all the attention he got from these cute girls.

Kev and I decided to share a Cobb salad and a chicken wrap (Red Robin was awesome and split everything for us!)

My Cobb salad and wrap from Red Robin

Everything tasted great!

I also snagged several of those amazing Bottomless fries.  They are insanely good I might add.

Afterward, we went back to our house for cheesecake (from Costco), presents and to watch the movie, Frozen.  Sadly, this is the best picture I have of my daughter with her beloved cheesecake…

It was a fun night.

Yesterday, we celebrated my now 6 year old’s birthday.  He requested Dominoes Pizza for dinner.  I love Dominoes, but I decided to buy myself a pork salad from Cafe Rio instead.

Cafe Rio pork Salad

I ordered it with a whole wheat tortilla (I only ate 1/3 of it), just a little bit of cilantro lime rice, black beans, extra lettuce, pico de gallo, a little guacamole and just a little bit of their house dressing.  SO YUMMY!

My son had a fun time opening presents and enjoying some caramel brownies too.

Ben's with his birthday presents and birthday brownies

He was so excited about his presents (can ya tell!?) that he didn’t even have any brownies.  Seriously, we sang to him and then he immediately went back to playing with his presents while we all enjoyed his brownies.

He didn’t even care.

I also have to mention that these are the BEST brownies on the planet.  My son told me he wanted these instead of a cake, and I was happy to oblige.  He also told me to not put any frosting on it at all, so it doesn’t even say Happy Birthday.

Ben's caramel brownies

These are Caramel Brownies and you can find the recipe all over the internet.  I used a recipe off of All Recipes.com and it is so dangerous.  I’m not kidding when I say they’re the best brownies ever.

I really try to save my indulges for things that are really worth it…AND these are worth it.  Man.

Needless to say, my “healthy” diet has been suffering this past week.  With the crazy schedule, birthdays, stress and lack of sleep, I’ve just been on survival mode….AKA “whatever the heck sounds good and is quick and easy to make/buy” mode.

It’s been pathetic.  I’ve been trying to get back to a normalish groove this week though.  I went to the gym for a bit last night.  I got a killer upper body workout in and it was great.

However, while I was at the gym I decided that I don’t look pregnant….at all.

You’d think that was a good thing, right?  I assure you it’s not.

Yes, instead of feeling like a cute, feminine lady with a darling baby bump; I feel more like a husky, tank-like, somewhat masculine “lady” with a squarish body.

It’s not cute.

I snapped these pictures so you can all see what I mean.

Me feeling chubby after a workout at the gym

There is no bump there….just one giant, thick square.

In fact, I now have Sponge Bob’s body, except his arms and legs are a lot skinnier than mine. 😉

Sponge Bob

Cute.

Oh, and I also took my official 18 weeks pregnant picture on Sunday…

Me 18 weeks pregnant

I can see a little bit of a bump in this picture…it’s still more square than round, but it’s there. 😉

Oh, I also want to mention that I was recently interviewed by a blogging friend of mine over at www.trextotigress.com and she posted the interview on her blog.  She asked me all about how I maintain a healthy lifestyle while being a busy mom.  It was a lot of fun.  If you’d like to check out the interview, here’s the link.

Well, I gotta go to bed.  It’s late.  I’m in the process of getting my “healthy oomph” back, so I hope to share some great recipes/meal plans/exercise stuff soon!

Even though my body is blowing up and resembling Sponge Bob, I will not go down without a fight!

G’night!

Lol! I do not see sponge Bob, but a gorgeous pregnant lady. I do see a little bump. Caramel brownies?? I need those in my life ASAP.

And thanks for the link. Everyone thinks you’re superwoman, not sponge Bob.

I think you’re doing great – I mean, you skipped Dominos!!! That’s a total win in my book. I’m such a pizza freak. 🙂
