Happy Tuesday to you all! Tuesday’s are our craziest day of the week, so merely surviving is a plus. 😉
Well, I have officially ended my “healthy cleanse!” I started on October 8th and it was technically supposed to go for 8 weeks. However, I always considered it more of a 6 week thingy because healthy grains were added back in the last two weeks. At that point, it essentially became just a typical healthy diet.
Anyway, I told y’all about the nasty flu bug that hit our family a couple weeks ago. Well, that pretty much did me in and I had a hard time getting completely back on the “healthy cleanse” after that! Dang it.
I followed the cleanse almost perfectly for a month, but I’ve really been struggling the past 2 weeks! So, I’m officially declaring my “healthy cleanse” over! I’m still so glad I did it though. I think it’s fun to try new, challenging things! Here are my 2 cents about my “healthy cleanse” adventure.
- I loved that this cleanse was broken up into 2 week segments and that it got easier as it went along! It did so much for my morale!
- I loved that I ate so many real, healthy foods. Most processed foods were pretty much off the list.
- My body felt really great most of the time. My appetite went way down and I didn’t obsess about food as much.
- I lost a total of 6 pounds and am now back to my “normal-low” weight.
- I would have lost more weight, but I overdosed on protein balls a little too much! They were my sanity!
- This is a great cleanse and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I plan on doing it once a year.
Well, there ya go. My new goal for the rest of the year (I always have to have a plan!) is to strive to eat as healthy as possible and really watch the portions! I’m going to take Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve off though.

I love eating grains again! They are just so satisfying and yummy. I missed oatmeal, protein pancakes, quinoa and bread so much! Here are a few things I’ve been enjoying lately…
A slice of Dave’s Powerseed bread topped with scrambled eggs (1 whole egg+3 egg whites.) I hadn’t had a slice of bread in a long time, and I must say bread never tasted better! I love this bread! I buy it at Costco (of course), but I’ve seen it at lots of health food stores too. One slice is a little high in calories (110), but it’s because it’s jam packed of so much stuff! Each slice has 6 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and loads of healthy ingredients! It tastes awesome too!
Oats in a Jar (OIAJ)! I love this! We finished up this jar of peanut butter about two weeks into my cleanse. It patiently sat on my counter until I could eat oats again! This was heavenly!
I’ve definitely been feelin’ the oatmeal love! I had my favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal with a side of 3 scrambled egg whites topped with some low sugar ketchup. LOVE!
I had this for breakfast today! Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal (I could have it every day!) with a Coconut Chia Seed Protein Pancake (topped with natural peanut butter, agave and unsweetened coconut) on the side. Loved this!
This was an awesome lunch! I had the rest of the leftover roasted veggies from dinner and some grilled chicken that I had in the freezer. Yum!
Kev made this over the weekend and it was so pretty, I had to take a pic! He cut up a leftover baked potato and fried it up with peppers and onions in a little olive oil. He topped it with salsa and served it with a side of cottage cheese and sliced pear. Yum.
Well that’s the latest! I wish you all happy and healthy eating!!
