Kev and I have been doing Jamie Eason’s Live Fit Trainer for about 3 weeks now (minus our little vacation hiatus, lol) and so far, I LOVE it!
The workouts are really TOUGH, but I know that Tough=Results. Here are a few things I love about the workouts….
- The way the days are divided up into specific muscle groups. We work arms, chest, shoulders, back and legs on separate days. We work abs on a few days too. Each muscle group is allowed adequate time to rest before being worked again. I know this is pretty typical for bodybuilding programs, but I love it.
- We do 30 minutes of cardio most days. I’ve heard from several sources that you don’t need to do hours and hours of cardio to get results. This makes me happy. It’s not hard to do a half hour of cardio. I just hop on the treadmill or elliptical and “put in my time.”
- I’m able to lift a lot heavier in the weight room. I lift weights in my classes, but we usually lift lighter weights and do a lot of reps. This is great, but I love that these workouts allow me to lift heavier because we’re not doing as many reps.
- I love how these workouts are set up. They are very organized and remind me of a “to do” list. This definitely appeals to my OCD side. I love to do an exercise, “check it off the list” and then move on to the next one. It feels very productive, clean and organized.
- I love that I can fit it in my schedule whenever I have the time. I LOVE my classes, but I’ve really enjoyed having some flexibility!
- I’m seeing some results! It’s very subtle, but I think I’m gaining a little muscle and strength. Love it! I’ve definitely been trying to watch my diet as well, so I don’t undo all of my hard work. It’s been tough, but I think I’ve done pretty well (other than our vacation last weekend!)
There are a few things I don’t LOVE about these workouts though…
- Working out 6 days a week. It’s tough! But again, I know Tough=Results.
- I need to be at the gym to get the best results. Jamie has a few “Emergency At Home” workouts available, but I know the gym is optimal.
- The workouts are freaking HARD! But, I think I actually love that. 😉
I’ve taken a few pics I thought I would share with y’all….
Kev and I did these Barbell Step Ups last night and they were tough!
We’ve also been doing the hardest ab exercises EVER! They are amazingly awesome, but they kill me!
We did 20 “Toe Touchers” (pictured below) and then immediately did 20 crunches with our hands behind our heads, but with the legs still in the air. We repeated that 3 times. It just about killed me.
For this exercise we did “Jackknife Sit Ups” with a stability ball. We started stretched out like this….
And then did a “jackknife situp” with the ball…
My abs were sore for about 3 days after this!
Kev and I did seated calf raises the other night. I was laughing my head off because it reminded me of one of those “Horsie Rides” in front of Kmart that I used to ride on as a kid.
Kev was thrilled I took this pic of him on the “Horsie Ride!”
Then, it was my turn to do the “Horsie Ride.” I decided to “swing my lasso” too!
Yes, I’m a spaz….
Well, that’s all I have for now! Kev and I are actually getting ready to head to the gym right now, so I gotta jam.
We’ve become full-feldged gym rats. Awesome.
I hope you all have a fantastic FRIDAY! Woohoo!

haha I love when my husband and I workout together!

Your husand seems like a good sport. Especially letting you take a pic of him doing calf raises! I did Jamie’s chest/tricep workout last weekend and my arms were sore for 2-3 days. It was great!
Melanie says
Lol, I think my husband’s gotten used to the fact that I take pictures everywhere we go! I’m lovin’ these workouts. We did a tricep/arm workout yesterday and it was awesome. 😉
Amy @ FunWith Family and Fitness says
My husband and I don’t do our regular workouts together (we both have our own preferences) but the one form of exercise we do together is sparring. We get all geared up and have a blast!!!! 🙂
Melanie says
I love it! That’s hilarious. 😉
Steph says
I love the last pic – that’s brilliant! You’ve got to have some fun in the gym (I find it dull being stuck in the gym, but needs must I suppose!).
Melanie says
Thanks! Sometimes we have to fit our workout in late at night and when I get tired I get a little loopy, lol!
Megan says
I am going to try this workout with my friends. I agree with you, it’s only with hard work and dedication that we can achieve real weight loss and become totally fit.
Melanie says
Good luck! I hope you love it. These workouts are tough, but I love them because I know they are effective!
Kesa says
I love Jamie Easton’s workout plan! Kami just started it a few weeks ago and I know she is loving it as well. It’s so fun to see pictures of you guys 🙂
Melanie says
Wow, that’s cool that Kami just started it too! It really is such a great workout plan! I miss you guys. 😉
Kaylee says
Mel, you inspire me so much! I love everything you are posting and I wanted to use some of the workouts you have been using to become more fit! 🙂
Melanie says
Awww, thanks Kaylee! Kev and I have been loving these workouts! They are tough, but amazing! I miss you and hope you’re doing well. 😉
