Happy Hump Day!
First off, I want to thank EACH and EVERY one of you who voted for me on Top Mommy Blogs the past couple of days.
I’m now in the #2 Health and Fitness spot and hope to be back to #1 very soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you all so much.
Seriously I do. Mwah.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know where we were last night.
Um ya, my little cutie fell and split his head open AGAIN! Oy.
Soooooo, last night I told him to go get his jammies on. I heard the cute pitter patter of little feet running to and from his room and then I heard BOOM.
It didn’t sound good.
Then, when I heard the sound of his cry, I KNEW it wasn’t good.
THEN, when he came into my room with blood dripping down his forehead, I thought, “You’ve got to be kidding me!”
Apparently he fell and hit his head on our wood floor. Yes, this is our accident prone son.
He ALSO fell and split his head open last fall and got a pretty bad gash. You can read all about it here if you so desire.
He also whacked his head a few months ago and his 6 year old brother called 911. Thankfully, his “owie” wasn’t too bad, but it made for a “fun” adventure. You can read all about that one here if you so desire!
Yes, there’s never a dull moment at our house!
He ended up getting three stitches + a Popsicle, Dum Dum and sticker to boot.
He was happy ’bout that.
We also took all the kids to get slushies afterward and they were ALL happy ’bout that!
I just have to say….WHAT a cutie pie! I love all of these kiddos, but that squishy little one in front wearing his Batman jammies, with that sweet little smile, proudly wearing his sticker just kills me.
What am I ever going to do when all my kids grow up and LEAVE ME!!??? Sniff, sniff.

Kev and I went to Costco the other night and loaded up on a bunch of yummy produce. I LOVE summer produce. It’s so so so dang amazing!
We got a pineapple, Romaine lettuce, spinach, peaches (the bomb!), plums, grapes and cherries (the other bomb!) I forgot to get avocados and bell peppers though, dang it.
I always feel a burst of healthy motivation whenever I load up on fresh fruits and veggies. However, I realize buying it and bringing it home is only HALF of the equation.
I’ve learned many times that fruits and veggies do me NO GOOD just sitting in my fridge or on my counter. I actually have to EAT them to receive the full benefit. 😉 LOL.
So, I’ve been trying to load up the past few days.
I’ve been on a HUGE egg kick lately. I love eggs because I can chuck a whole slew of veggies in there and it tastes so good! Lately, I’ve had eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner (not all on the same day though.) Here are some of my creations…
With a whole wheat English Muffin on the side. So good!
I made waffles and scrambled eggs for the kids for dinner last night. Kev and I had omelets and I snagged a waffle too! FYI, I prepared all of the ingredients for the omelets, but Kev cooked them up for us because he’s a pro…
I decided to make something similar for lunch today, but my “omelet” turned out to be a scramble…
I’ve also been loving tons of fresh fruit. I threw raspberries into my oatmeal the other day and it was delicious!
I also wanted to have my typical peach with cottage cheese today, but decided I should have some sort of vegetable too. So, I came up with this!
A bunch of romaine lettuce topped with peaches, raspberries and cottage cheese. I loved this! It tasted like the epitome of summer.
Well, that’s all the food pics I’ve taken lately. My goal is to consume all the produce we bought before it goes bad. I hate throwing away food, especially healthy, clean, yummy food!
Oh, and I’m looking forward to kicking it up BIG TIME after baby is here. I’ll definitely cut myself some slack the first month or so because life is pretty much a blur with a newborn, but I can’t wait to have an able body that cooperates with my motivation again!
I’ve also decided I’m going to run a Turkey Trot (hopefully a 10k) this Thanksgiving. Yes, I know that’s a long way off, but it makes me so happy to plan and make goals once again. YAY!
Well, I gotta hit the hay. My little sissy who lives in Connecticut is coming to visit and we are all headed to Lagoon Amusement Park (Utah’s version of a Six Flags) tomorrow! Yay. Yes, I’m going to die walking around the park in the heat. AND yes, I’m sad I can’t go on any rides. BUT, I LOVE the excitement and energy at Lagoon. It always makes me feel like a kid again. YAY!!
‘Night.

I saw your little one on Instagram with his cut. Poor little guy. At least he’ll be a tough cookie. Enjoy the time with your sister.

I know, I can’t believe he cracked his head open again! Geesh. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my sis. It will be so nice. 😉

Correction, as of this morning you’re back in the number 1 spot in your category! Yay!
I always love your food ideas and pictures. Every time I read one of your posts, it makes me crave salads, fruits and veggies.
Batman jammies are the best! My son (who turns 16 in two weeks!) used to have Batman jammies when he was little. There was a little cape that Velcroed onto the shoulders. My daughter always begged to wear them, so when he outgrew the jammies they got passed to her. A few months ago we found man-sized Batman jammies, and my son had to have them. Hysterical!
Melanie says
Yay! Thanks for your support. I need to find some man-sized Batman jammies now! I LOVE IT!!!
Nancy @ WeightLossShakesx says
Your post makes me crave fruits and veggies. Especially your fruit salad with lettuce. Interesting idea. It’s worth trying for me. I’ve never mixed any vegetable with fruits while making daily salads. But I will surely try. Such kind of recipes can help to lose weight or stay fit this summer.
Thank you for sharing your great recipes. I guess they’re all coming from your mind 🙂
Melanie says
That fruit salad with lettuce was interesting, but I really enjoyed it!

I just checked and you are numero uno! Woo hoo! Your kids are all so cute! I’m so sorry your little one bumped his head but if the photos are any proof, they all made out ok in the end. 🙂
Yay for you for doing a turkey trot! I’m trying to get my family motivated to all be able to run one this year. I’ll be cheering on the sides (its two weeks after my due date!).
Melanie says
Yay!!! Thanks so much for voting for me too. I can’t wait to be able to run again! That will be fun for you to cheer your family on, but I’m sure you would rather be running!

Poor little guy. Glad he looks happy afterwards with his slushee.
Melanie says
I know! I felt so bad for him, but the slushee made him happy. 😉

Your little stitches man looks SO much like you!! He looks like a trooper also! I just bought those cherries, grapes, and plums from Costco too. They are almost gone…I cannot get enough lately!
Melanie says
He really was such a trooper! I’m glad you say he looks like me because a lot of people say he looks like a blonde version of Kev. I can’t tell either way though. 😉 I LOVE Costco produce SOOOO much!
Kim says
Oh, no – your poor little guy! I love that he is still smiling!!!
Melanie says
I know, he’s had it rough lately. He was quite the trooper through it all though. 😉

I hope your son is feeling better! Glad to hear that he is doing ok!
Your scrambled eggs looks delicious! I ate scrambled eggs almost everyday last week and never got tired of it!
Melanie says
Thanks so much! I definitely go through “egg streaks” where I eat eggs all the time! I love them and they almost always sound good to me!
The Vegan 8 says
How scary for your little boy! I know anytime I hear a thump from my daughter, I freak out! Glad he is okay though! I know what you mean, the idea of my litle Olivia growing up is of course wonderful, but heartbreaking too. She has become my world!
Melanie says
I know, kids and accidents stress me out! I was so glad it wasn’t worse though and that he was okay. Oh, the life of a mother……
