Last week was the craziest week ever.
Seriously.
We were so busy and stayed up late pretty much every night. It was quite insane.
I’m glad it’s over now. Phew.
However, now that my pace and stress level have slowed down a bit, I feel like I’m in a weird little funk. I think my body is just plain exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally, and it’s making me feel a little “weird” and “funky.”
I’m still happy though. 😉
I started off my morning with some yummy Pumpkin Protein Pancakes.
I also had a cute “breakfast buddy” who enjoyed some protein pancakes as well. I couldn’t even get him to stop eating long enough to look up for the picture. He loved them!
They were especially good topped with Justin’s Maple Almond Butter. That almond butter is absolutely amazing!
I also had a bunch of overripe bananas sitting on my counter, so I decided to top my pancakes with some of them as well.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with the rest of them. Maybe I’ll make some Healthier Banana Bread or some Banana Bread Protein Pancakes tomorrow. Yum.
Oh, and now I have some leftover pumpkin I need to use too.
I think I’ll make some Healthy Chocolate Mug Cake tonight (it takes 1/4 cup of pumpkin!) So yummy!
After breakfast, I took my daily vitamins…
I seriously love taking vitamins every day because I can definitely feel a difference. I rarely get sick anymore and my hair and fingernails have grown so much longer and stronger since I started taking vitamins regularly about a year ago. It’s pretty crazy.
Oh, and I just take Fish Oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and a Multivitamin….nothing fancy. Oh, and yes, I have an old lady container to keep all my vitamins in. It really does help to remind me to take them every day.
I also love taking my vitamins with a GIANT glass of water. I usually fill that glass twice. I love water and it really helps to keep me full.
I’ve also been busy doing laundry all day today. Woo hoo. It’s a never ending job! However, it’s a little more fun when my sweet little Jimmy dog hangs out with me. He is such a cutie patootie. I think he’s mastered the “puppy dog eyes.”
I love this little sweetie.
Kev and I went on a really weird run Saturday night. We left at about 9:30 PM because it has been SO HOT here! It’s been right around 100 degrees the past several days; it even got up to 105 a couple days ago.
Anyway, we left at 9:30 thinking we could beat the heat…..but NO! It was still 90 degrees! Can you believe it? 90 degrees at 9:30 at night!??!
What the heck.
It was humid too, which is weird around here. It was such a strange run for me because it was dark, so my mind thought it should be cool; but I was HOT and worn out. We ran through every sprinkler we came across and ended up running just over 4 miles. I was beat. I seriously fall apart when I run in the heat.
I am a wuss.
Speaking of being a wuss, I’ve been trying to decide if I should sign up for our local 10k on the 4th of July! It’s such a fun race and I LOVE starting my holiday out with a run, but I’ve been a little bit of a lame runner as of late. I haven’t gone more than 5 miles in quite a while and I haven’t been running very fast; I’ve just been running for enjoyment.
It’s not very fun to run a race when I feel like a wuss. I like to run HARD and FAST during a race. I think if I run HARD and FAST during this race, I will DIE.
See my dilemma?
Kev says we should do it and run just for fun, not to PR or anything. Sooo, I need to make a decision. Dang it.
Well, I need to go now. I have crazy children who are freaking out in the background and I need to get ready to go to the gym! I hope y’all have a wonderful night!
Questions for y’all…
What is the hottest temperature you’ve ever run in?
Are you planning on running any races on the 4th?
Are there any particular vitamins you love?

I ran Ragnar in 95 degree heat. I got heat stroke and threw up at the finish line. I’m a lot better at running in the heat now. Ice under my hat or in my sports bra. This keep me cool during the Las Vegas Ragnar 97 degrees up hill in the desert. I’m planning on running the West Point 5k on the 4th. I’m not really good at vitamins, I usually take a One a Day vitamin when I do. Where do you get your fish oil? Does it have a bad after taste?
Melanie says
Holy COW Melodie, a 95 degree Ragnar and 97 degree Vegas Ragnar is brutal! Wow. That’s amazing. I never thought about the ice thing; I’ll have to try that. I am seriously such a wuss in the heat. I hope you have fun running that 5k on the 4th. I think it’s so much fun to run races on holidays! I just buy my Fish Oil at Costco and it’s pretty cheap and I don’t taste an aftertaste at all. I take 2 fish oils in the morning and two at night. I swear by vitamin D and C now too. They have kept me so healthy, I love it. If I ever feel like I’m starting to get sick, I take another vitamin D and several vitamin Cs throughout the day. Works like a charm!

I don’t do vitamins but I do have a very vitamin rich diet from fresh food. My husband is training for a marathon and had a ten mile run in similar weather on Sunday. Ten miles is easy for him but he found he had to stop several times. Running in heat and humidity is not good 🙂
Melanie says
Wow, 10 miles in the heat it rough! I wish your husband the best of luck on his marathon. That’s amazing. I’m so inspired by marathoners!
mariekeates says
It will be his first full although he’s done a half before. I’m just a walker but I do walk marathons. Not quite the same thing though 🙂
