Isn’t that a lovely title?? Yes, my fridge reeks and it’s driving me nuts! I’m sure a lot of you moms can sympathize with me.
My kitchen started to stink a couple days ago. I changed all the trashes, checked the fridge/freezer numerous times, checked the pantry for scary potatoes or onions and cleaned out the garbage disposal! Today I decided to clean out my entire fridge from top to bottom and figure out what in the heck is dying in there!
I’m happy to say that I have a very nice clean fridge now. But sadly, something is still smellin’ foul! DANG. When Kev gets home, I’m going to make him move the fridge to see if something is growing under there. Do any of you guys have any tips for finding the source of a stink?? If you do, send them my way! 😉
Here’s my nice clean little fridge for your viewing pleasure,
It’s a little bit “Mother Hubbardish.” I need to go to the store. But, it’s CLEAN!
On a brighter note, I had a great workout at the gym yesterday. I went to my Muscle works class and we did a bunch of killer push ups and planks. It was great. When I got home, I made a very YUMMY protein shake. I decided to call it my Orange Creamsicle Spinach Protein Shake because that is exactly what it tasted like.
Orange Creamsicle Spinach Protein Shake
- 1 cup Unsweetened almond milk (or liquid of your choice)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar-free vanilla pudding mix
- 1 tablespoon ground flax seed
- I whole orange, peeled and divided into chunks
- a couple drops of orange extract
- 2 big handfuls baby spinach
- 6-7 ice cubes
I forgot to include the spinach and orange extract in this pic, sorry!
Throw everything in the blender and mix it up!! Enjoy!
This was so refreshing and the perfect post-workout treat!
I’m supposed to be heading to the gym in a bit, but we’ve had terrible ice on the roads today! There have been a bunch of accidents and I’ve been sliding around everywhere I’ve gone. Soooo, I think Kev and I are going to head over to the Gold’s Gym Express a little bit later. It will be great!
I hope y’all are having a wonderful night! xoxo

Sounds so yummy!!!! Thanks! And I wish I had advice for a smelly kitchen. When someone shares let me know! LOL!

An open box of baking soda takes smells away in a fridge/freezer. I’m sure you already know this little tid bit.
Melanie says
Kelly, I know this tidbit, but I’ve never tried it! Maybe Arm & Hammer will be my hero!! Kev just got home, so we’re going to check out UNDER the fridge too!

I second the baking soda idea! Works great and is all natural…. Do you happen to have any beans in there? Once they get a bit old, they stink to the high heavens! Shake sounds yummy, thanks!
Melanie says
I think I need to try the baking soda! I do have some black beans in there, but they are only a few days old. I’m goin’ crazy!
Amy @ Living N Learning says
Only tip I have is the baking soda which has already been suggested. Hope you either find the source of the smell or find away to get it to go away.
Melanie says
Thanks so much Amy! I’m hoping I figure it out too!
Sheree says
I had the same thing about a month ago. It turned out there was a rotten orange in my bag of oranges from Costco. Check your orange bag! 🙂
Melanie says
Thanks for the tip Sheree! I do have a box of Costco oranges on my counter and I did find a rotten orange in there the other day when I was doing my “stink detective” work, but I think the rest of them are good, dang it.
Julie says
The story is hilariously funny, and the shake looks amazing!
Melanie says
I know, it is funny….but so weird that I can’t figure out what in thee heck it is!!! !$@#a! The shake is pretty tasty though. 😉

Mmmm! That looks tasty I’m not a huge fan of spinach but I gotta try that! I enjoyed your story it gave me a big smile 🙂 I second everyone else on the baking soda I use it all the time it works great!
Melanie says
The shake is really good and you can’t even taste the spinach in there at all…not one little bit! So, if you don’t like spinach, it’s a great way to fit it in your diet. 😉 I think I need to try the baking soda and I hope it works!

You have the same size fridge as me, and can I just say, they aren’t big enough! Not with 5 and 6 kids to feed. I try to shop every two weeks but I can never cram it all in there. Luckily I have a fridge in the garage, but half the time I forget that I put things out there! I know that’s not what this post is about, but your open fridge made me think of it. I’ve had a super stinky fridge twice in the past year. Once it was the minced garlic jar not having the lid on tight enough. The other time was a bottle of worcestershire sauce that had tipped over and was dripping in the way back. I have a super sensitive nose, so these smells were overwhelming. Of course I’ve had the rotten food smells occasionally, but usually it’s easy to ferret those out. If I can’t find the source I usually pull the fridge out and clean underneath it. One time I thought I smelled it every time I opened the fridge, but it was actually a rotten potato in the pantry. They are close to each other so I was suffering from smell confusion. Good luck. This would drive me nuts too.
Oh, and I tried your oats in a jar thing this morning. It was really good!
Melanie says
I know Amy, I definitely need a bigger fridge!! We have a freezer in the garage, but I would love a second fridge. I cleaned my entire fridge out and we pulled it out and I cleaned under it too. I think I can still smell the smell, ewww. I can usually find the source, but this one’s got me stumped. I’ve definitely had rotten potatoes in the pantry before too. Those are the worst!!
I’m so happy you enjoyed the oats in a jar. I’m always happy when we finish up a PB jar!! I MISS YOU my friend. 😉
