Hey everyone! Yes, baby is still “cooking,” but I definitely feel like a ticking time bomb! He literally could be born ANY day now! I’m SO excited and a little lottle bit nervous. Eeee.
However, I’m happy to say that I’m READY for him to come and I’ve gotten everything done that I’ve wanted to get done!
First and foremost, Kev and I were able to go to the Paul McCartney concert Thursday night! I am sooooo happy we were able to go! It was such a great concert and I LOOOOOOVE Paul so so so much!
Our seats were in the “nosebleed section,” but they weren’t too too bad.
We could still see Paul fairly well and the big screens were wonderful! I told Kev that next time we go (yes, there WILL be a next time!), I want to get really good seats!
Isn’t he the cutest!?? He’s such a great entertainer and he still looks so great! I can’t believe he’s 72! I also think it’s awesome that he still tours because I’m SURE he doesn’t need the money. I think he just does it because he loves it and loves his fans.
Oh, and I filmed some of my favorite songs (Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Let it Be, Yesterday and Golden Slumbers.) It really is surreal to hear Paul McCartney singing all of these iconic songs. I was in heaven!
I’m so sorry you can hear me singing in a lot of the videos! I promise everyone else was singing too….you just can’t hear them, lol! It was so loud at the concert that I couldn’t even hear myself singing!!!
Well aside from being able to go to the concert, I also got my nails done…
My daughter and I did them ourselves. I did my fingers and my daughter painted my toes (I can’t bend!)
I’m also happy that my car seat and matching stroller arrived in the mail (I was starting to worry!)
Chicco sent me the KeyFit 30 car seat and Activ3 Jogging Stroller and I will be doing a full review on both of them after baby is here. I KNOW I will really love them both so much!
I also employed the help of my children to set them up!
I am seriously so handicapped these days guys. It’s quite pathetic. I’m grateful for sweet, cute, helpful kiddos though!
I also made a BUNCH of Protein Pancakes yesterday so I could have a big stash of them in the freezer!
I had some pumpkin that needed to be used, so I made a batch of Pumpkin Protein Pancakes. I also had an overripe banana sitting on my counter, so I made some Banana Bread Protein Pancakes. I also made some Protein Packed Pancakes (original flavor) and Chocolate Protein Pancakes as well!
I’ve also been busy keeping up with laundry, changing all the sheets on the beds and keeping the house in one piece. 😉
K, baby is welcome to come ANY day now!!!
Oh, and I went to the doctor a couple days ago and I was measuring a few weeks smaller than I should be. FYI, I always measure right on or a little bit small throughout all of my pregnancies, but for some reason I always stop growing the last month! It’s weird, but I’ve done it every time!
AND, the doctor always wants to do an ultrasound EVERY time, just in case. I’m glad though because I think it’s fun to see our little babe. AND, the ultrasound tech said everything was fine and the baby was measuring 4-5 days AHEAD of schedule! Yikes.
*********************
Well, I thought I would talk a little bit about my pregnancy “journey!” I figured I better hurry up and talk about it because once baby is here, I don’t want to talk about pregnancy…..ever…..again!
Ha.
It’s been quite the journey.
Weight Gain:
I’ve gained a total of 37 pounds (and hopefully holding!) so far. I really wanted to keep my weight gain to 30 pounds, but I’m okay with 37 because it’s the least amount I’ve gained with any of my pregnancies! I gained around 40-43 pounds with my first three babies, 50 with my #4 and 55 with my #5!
Oh, and I recently saw a picture of myself near the end of my #5 pregnancy and it was NOT pretty! Man. I feel giant right now, but I pretty much looked like Buddha with my last pregnancy. Yikes. I’ll have to share a picture with y’all. 😉
I’m hoping it will be a lot easier to lose the baby weight this time since I didn’t gain quite as much. Of course, I’ll keep y’all posted on that journey as well.
Cravings:
I’ve had some weird cravings throughout this pregnancy. I talked about my 1st trimester cravings in this post, but some things have sounded good to me throughout the entire pregnancy:
- Fruit
- Lettuce (so weird, but I’ve mainly just craved it in the third trimester)
- Green onions (totally weird, but I’ve craved them several times!)
- Toast (always comforting)
- Ice cream (so soothing to my heartburn and weird belly)
Aversions:
Cereal and popcorn have made me sick several times throughout this pregnancy. I can handle them in small portions, but if I eat too much of either of them, I just feel so sick!
Everything else usually sounds pretty decent to me.
Exercise:
Overall, I’m pretty happy with my exercise efforts. I had some issues early on in the pregnancy that kept me from working out for a little while, but for the most part I exercised fairly regularly throughout.
I kept running until I was around 6 months pregnant, but I quit after that because it made me feel so weird. After 6 months, my workouts consisted of weight training and walking. It seemed to be just perfect for my pregnantness. I haven’t exercised much this last month because moving in general just about kills me!
Diet:
For the most part, I’ve tried to keep my diet fairly healthy and just not be a big pig. I was so sick for the first 2-3 months, so I just ate whatever in the heck sounded good during that time. Since then, I’ve tried to keep it pretty healthy. I’ve definitely allowed myself more indulgences than I usually do, but I’ve been okay with that. It’s SO HARD to be so sick and tired all the time….a little sugar definitely lifts the spirits!
Other Weird Tidbits:
- I wake up at least 2-3 times a night to go the bathroom. Yes, it’s annoying.
- My belly button is still an “inny.” I usually have a “mega inny,” but when I’m pregnant it just becomes a “barely inny.”
- I haven’t gotten any stretch marks with this pregnancy. I got a few stretch marks with my first pregnancy, but haven’t gotten any more since then.
- My feet swell up from time to time (usually after a long car ride or a long day on my feet), but I haven’t noticed any swelling in my hands (my ring still fits just fine.)
- I can’t wait to be able to lay/sleep on my back again! I’m a huge “back sleeper” and I miss it so much! It’s a HUGE event to roll from side to side at night. Uuughh.
- I’ve had really bad heartburn throughout this pregnancy! My doctor told me to take Prilosec (Omeprazole) every day and it’s helped a TON! I’ve also been feeling quite nauseous the past couple weeks and it makes me so sad. 🙁
- I’ve really loved feeling the baby move and kick around. It really is so cool! I love to see the “waves” across my belly and sometimes I can feel a little heel or elbow or something. It’s a lot of fun.
Baby Names:
We’ve had a really tough time coming up with a baby name this time ’round! I think it’s harder to come up with boy names and this is our FIFTH boy! We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to three names…
- Grant (my sister already has a Grant, so we’re wavering on this one.)
- Easton
- Carson
I have a bunch of other names I like, but Kev doesn’t like them, dang it. My favorite name is Lincoln, but I also like pretty traditional (albeit boring) names like Justin, Jared, Brad, Mark, Jason and Luke.
I also have several creative boy names that I LOVE, but I don’t think I’d ever really use them (I’m more of a “traditional, strong man name” kind of person.) But, the creative names I like are Sawyer, Crew, Cason, Ryker and Boston.
Kev likes the names Tate and Zack, but I’m not a fan. 🙁
Previous Baby Weights and Birth Times:
I’m technically due in 8 days, but since the ultrasound tech said I was 4-5 days ahead, I could be “due” in as many as 3 days! BTW, the baby measured 4-5 days ahead at my 20 week ultrasound too, but they didn’t move my official due date.
I’ve never had a baby go past their due date and I hope this baby doesn’t! Oh, and the ultrasound tech estimated my baby weighed about 7 pounds 5 ounces a couple days ago, so I want him to come out before he gets any bigger!
- Baby #1: 8 pounds 3 ounces, came on his due date (he was due Christmas Eve, I went into labor on Christmas Eve, but he was born Christmas morning.)
- Baby #2: 6 pounds 13 ounces, came 11 days early
- Baby #3: 8 pounds 9 ounces, came 2 days early
- Baby #4: 7 pounds 2 ounces, induced one week early
- Baby #5: 7 pounds 13 ounces, induced one day early
Well, that pretty much sums up my pregnancy in a nutshell. I’m really trying to “enjoy” these last few days knowing I’ll never be pregnant again. It really does make me sad. Pregnancy and having children is such a miracle and I’m so glad I’ve been able to experience it.
HOWEVER, I’m really looking forward to being DONE with pregnancy and moving on with the next stage of life. It sounds very liberating. I know as this little baby grows up though, I will be a VERY sad mama. I love my babies.
Well, I gotta go enjoy the rest of my Saturday night! I hope you’re all having a great weekend!

I’m hoping that the next time I read one of your posts it says, “He’s here!!!”
Glad you were able to go to the Paul McCartney concert!!!

I’m looking forward to that post as well, lol!!! We loved the concert SOOOO MUCH!

Thanks so much Jeanne! I can hardly wait to meet him!

You’ve been looking forward to Paul’s concert for so long, I’m so happy to hear you made it!! Also, the Chico stroller and car seat are AWESOME. Maybe you can give me some pointers I how to get some awesome reviews like that!!!! I know you’ll love it. You’re gonna enjoy this lil one so much (and so will the older kiddos)! Such a lucky baby to be coming to such a loving family. Can’t wait to read more about your last week(s) pregnant and your new lil’ man!
Melanie says
I was so happy to make it to the concert! I’m sure I will love the stroller and car seat. I can’t wait to test them out on the baby!
Ya know, as far as the reviews go, it took me quite a while before companies started contacting me. I’ve joined several agencies that help to line up companies with bloggers and that’s helped a lot. I’m also active on a couple blog lists and that seems to help too! It just takes time.
We’re so excited to welcome our baby to our home. I can’t wait!!

I loved reading this post. I really do read and enjoy your posts. You look so amazing and are really all belly, you don’t look bloated anywhere like a lot of prego women. You should lose the weight no problem! I can’t believe you only gained 37 lbs, that’s amazing. Shoot I gained exactly 50 lbs with my daughter…BUT I ate like a total pig…which I think is pretty standard with your first child because it’s all so new and you are getting cravings like never before. I was very sick the first trimester as well, so the only thing that sounded good was hot dogs and cookies, lol! I started eating a lot better by the 2nd trimester, but I ate a lot because I was SO fearful to have a healthy baby with a good weight that I ate a lot of calories. I really struggled to lose the weight after wards because I was nursing 24/7 and eating alot (again, out of fear to have enough milk supply) so I actually got even fatter after she was born. By 9 months postpartum, I had enough and changed my whole diet and focus and within 2-3 months I lost almost all of the weight and felt confident again. I don’t EVER plan on being pregnant again, but if I was, I would definitely do my best to not be such a pig the next time since all that dang eating didn’t have ANY effect on having a large baby…my daughter was so tiny. 5 lbs 16 oz, so basically I got fat for nothing, LOL!
Can’t wait to see pics! xoxo
Melanie says
Thanks so much Brandi!! I know all about the whole 50 pound pregnancy weight gain thing! I ate terribly with my last pregnancy and it SHOWED!!! Nursing doesn’t help me either. I seem to cling onto some pounds until I wean my babies. I’m hoping that won’t be the case this time…we’ll see.

You are soooo close!!! I love the names Lincoln and Easton. I really wanted to name our son Lincoln until my husband said that they called his friend growing up “stinkin Lincoln”. I thought to myself, I will pound anyone that calls my kid stinky anything no matter the age. Haha the mama bear came out in meso I decided on naming him Landon. I have to admit, I’m really nervous about delivering this baby in 3-6 weeks. My first delivery was fast but didn’t have time for an epidural so the whole thing was pretty awful. Now I’m tossing around the idea of not getting one this time so I can get right out of bed and clean up like I did after the last delivery. I don’t know how you did this five times already. You are awesome!!! I hope and pray everything goes smoothly for you and you will be holding him in the next few days. 🙂
Melanie says
Oh man, I never thought about Stinkin Lincoln! Dang it. I LOVE the name Landon too and considered it with several of my boys. I’m nervous about the delivery too!!!! I’ll be so glad when everything is over. I can’t believe you did it WITHOUT an epidural! I WOULD DIE. I’m a wuss. I wish you all the best with your delivery too!!!

I love Easton, but I also really like Sawyer!

I don’t even know why I never thought about making a big batch of pancakes and storing them in the freezer! That would save me so much time! Can’t believe your baby will be here any day now! I hope everything goes well and I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of your new little one!!
Melanie says
Thanks so much! I love protein pancakes SO MUCH, but hardly ever have time to make them. The freezer option has been a life saver for me!
Deborah says
Melanie, you are so loved, even by all of us who only know you virtually! I am so excited to anticipate seeing a photo of you and the new baby soon! I’m praying for an easy delivery and perfect health.
Melanie says
Oh Deborah, you are the sweetest! Thanks so so much for your kind words and continued support.

I like the name Carson! I love how you took pregnancy pictures through out is very cute. I hope you have a great and healthy delivery and of course a speedy recovery!
Melanie says
Thank you SO MUCH! I’m really hoping for a smooth delivery and recovery too. Fingers crossed!
FitBritt@MyOwnBalance says
You are so gorgeous!! I can’t believe you are due so soon! I also can’t believe how fast pregnancy goes by! I thought it would take forever! Like you, I don’t LOVE being pregnant. It’s not horrible but there are days I would rather just be me again. I love love love feeling him move though. I feel like we have our own little conversations.
I’m a huge back sleeper. I constantly wake up on my back. My doctor told me to just put a pillow under one hip so I’ve been doing that and it keeps me from being totally flat.
I have no idea how much weight I’ve gained but I’ve definitely gained a bunch. I don’t love the way I look but I feel good so that is the most important thing right now. I know I’ll lose the weight after the baby is here.
I like Carson personally! I think its a great name! 🙂
I’m so excited for you! Can’t wait for your little miracle to get here!
Melanie says
Thanks so much! I agree with everything you said about pregnancy! I slept with a pillow under my hip too and loved it, but lately I can’t seem to get comfortable that way. 🙁 It’s sad. I’m really looking forward to meeting our little guy!
