Pluggin’ Along and Trying to Stay Motivated

April 26, 201419 Comments

Today has been a very, very rainy day!  I actually love the rain because it makes me feel calm, relaxed and cozy.

However, it also makes me feel very unmotivated. 😉

I really didn’t feel like going to the gym today…at all.  I just wanted to stay in my jammies and veg on the couch.  BUT, I decided to pull it together and get my bum over to the gym.

Once I got there, I still didn’t feel like going.

Not wanting to go to the gym on a rainy morning

But, after wasting time playing on my phone and putting it off for a bit, I finally went in and got it done.

And, I’m so glad I did!  I always feel better after a workout.  I’m also happy to say that for the first time in a VERY long time I didn’t feel giant and bloated.  Woo hoo!

I still feel very pregnant, but I just don’t feel quite as poofy.

Me, not feeling bloated after my workout

I also must say that I really DO NOT like taking selfies…like at all.  But, for the purpose of this blog and my own healthy motivation….I take a lot of them. 😉

Exercise

I had a fairly decent week of exercise.  I went to the gym three times and on a short 2 mile run on a treadmill yesterday.  It was actually a hard run for some reason.  I was still glad I got ‘er done though.

I also went on a nice walk with some of my favorite people this week…

Going on a walk with some of my favorite people

Our little 6 year old came with us and he did great!  We walked just over 2 miles and it was so nice.  Kev and I decided we want to go on a lot of walks this spring/summer.  I know it will be perfect for my pregnantness. 😉

We actually stopped at our local Maverick (convenience store) on the way and let our little cutie pick a treat.  He loved that.  He picked out a Push Pop and shared it with his little brother when he got home.

Cute brothers hugging

What a cutie.  Oh, and just so ya know my 4 year old dressed himself and those green pants are his favorites!  LOL.

Oh, and I also changed the sheets on several of the beds yesterday (including the mattress pads.)  AND, I have to say that changing the sheets on a bunk bed, especially as a pregnant lady, is freaking hard!

It definitely counts as a “workout” in my book.

I was sweating and my heart was pumping.  Yes, I’m a wuss.

Healthy Eating

I’m really loving my healthy diet so so much!  It’s not easy, but it’s not too hard either.  Here are some of things I’ve been eating.

Protein pancakes and more protein pancakes!

Protein pancakes and eggs

When I got home from the gym today, I made a batch of Protein Packed pancakes, but I used Cookies and Cream protein instead of vanilla.  They turned out awesome!  I also made a batch of Chocolate Protein pancakes so I would have plenty leftover to freeze.

Since I’m avoiding sugary treats, these have tasted so good to me!

I’ve also been loving protein shakes and I made another Mint Chocolate Chip one for me yesterday…

It’s seriously so good.  In fact, my 4 year old kept asking for my “drink.”  He loved it so much!

We made grilled chicken, quinoa and veggies for dinner on Thursday night.

Grilled chicken, quinoa, veggies

I marinated the chicken in my favorite marinade (it’s SOOOO good!) and Kev grilled it up!  While he was grilling, I just stir-fried the veggies in my electric frying pan.  I also made the quinoa in my rice cooker.  Soooo simple.

I enjoyed the leftovers yesterday as well…

I also enjoyed leftover soup and salad for lunch this week too…

Leftover soup and salad

I love leftovers so much!  I count them as my “meal prep.”  It makes healthy eating so much easier!

One night, I was laying in bed watching TV with Kev and I was SO hungry!!  I hate to eat late at night, but I felt like I was starving.  Soooo, I grabbed some Food Should Taste Good chips and cottage cheese.   It was the perfect snack.

chips and cottage cheese

Oh, and since I’m avoiding fried foods right now, I went to the Food Should Taste Good website to see if their chips were fried.  The FAQ section said they bake them first and then “lightly” cook (i.e. fry) them in healthy oil.

I decided that was good enough for me!  I’m not eating them on a regular basis and I’m avoiding all other types of chips though.

Oh, and I have one more random thing to share.  I bought tickets to Paul McCartney yesterday!!!  I love him so much!

However, he is coming to Utah on August 7th.  I’m due to have my baby August 18th.

Ya.  I’m scared.  I hope I don’t have my baby before then and I hope his concert doesn’t put me into labor.  Eeeee.

I just love him SOOOO much!  He is my favorite musician in the whole entire world.  Oh, and even though he’s 70-something years old, he still makes my heart go pitter-pat. LOL. 😉

Kev and I saw him in concert 4 years ago and I loved it.  I told Kev I plan to see Paul every time he comes to Utah until he dies.  Kev is thrilled.

Well, that’s all folks.  I’m gonna go enjoy the rest of my Saturday night.  I hope y’all do the same!

Sounds like you had a great week!!
I like rainy days but only if I can enjoy the storms from the inside -I hate having to run around in rain!

Labor during the concert would not be fun, but a story to tell for sure.

I know exactly what you mean about those rainy days. It’s so much harder to get up and at it. I am trying your delicious marinade tomorrow for dinner.
Doesn’t Paul Mccartney sing a song called lullaby? I think the baby will love hearing that. I read somewhere that babies in the womb can hear music. Have a great week 🙂

I hope you love the marinade. It really is one of our favorites! In fact, we love it so much that I rarely try anything else! Yes, Paul sings a song called Lullaby and it’s one of my favorites! I forgot about it though!!! I’m so glad you reminded me! Love it.

I am addicted to those chips…seriously they are so dangerous. I go through a Costco sized bag in like 4 days. AHH! I hate selfies, I’ve taken a few, but always feel like a total douche. I have one for an upcoming post and I look so ridiculous haha. Oh to be a blogger.

I love those chips SO MUCH too! I know, blogging is so rewarding, but I really don’t love taking bunch of pics of myself at all! I guess that’s the gig we’re in though, right?

Thanks so much! Ya, we’re a little crazy over here with our million kids! They’re a lot of fun though. Your little girl is a doll!

You’re keeping me motivated! Healthy eating, exercise, it’s all hard. And it helps to hear it’s not easy for anyone.

Yay! I struggle with healthy eating and exercise every day, but I just keep pluggin’ along. It definitely makes me happy, but it’s not easy (as you know!)

You look great! I agree with you on how unpleasant it is to make up bunk bed with new sheets. My son has been sleeping on the bottom so the top has been unmade since the sheets were washed…ha! OK, so after failing miserably on the no sugar this weekend today is my official start day. I need mental coping strategies for when I am making kids lunches and have to be around their snacks! Anyway, back on track I made some yummy/healthy kabobs last night and just had some leftover for lunch. One skinny cow snack a night for me (110 calories…10 over) and I have some low cal rice cakes here at my desk! Have a great week…thanks for the inspiration!

That is the sweetest thing ever that your little boy brought his candy home to share with his little brother! They are so cute together in the picture!
I hate bunk beds so much that if anyone had ever told me how difficult they were to change the sheets I would never have allowed bunk beds in my house. Kids, however, seem to love them! My son was 15 years old before he even considered letting his bunk beds go.
I hope the baby is patient and not in a hurry to come early, so you get to enjoy the concert!

My two littlest boys have my heart for sure! I really don’t love watching them grow up so fast! I’m NOT loving the bunk beds, but my boys definitely are. I think their sheets might not get cleaned as often as they should though…hee hee. 😉

I’m the same way! I sometimes don’t feel like working out at all and even after I change my clothes and get going, I still don’t feel like it. It’s not until I’m in the work out (or its over!) that I feel good!

Oh you are so funny girl!! I laughed out loud at your “I’m a wuss” comment and your heart going pitter patter at Paul McCartney! Gosh that’s awfully close to your due date! You are way tougher than me…there’s no way I’d have the motivation to go to a concert that pregnant…,I’m too lazy! Anyways, you look incredible. Can’t even tell you’re prego in that pic!

LOL, thanks so much! I’ll be sad if I can’t make it to Paul’s concert, but I figure it’s worth a try! This is only the second time he’s EVER come to Utah, so I figure I gotta go while I can (aka. while he’s still alive and performing!)
