I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to blog as often as I usually do, dang it. As you know, I’ve been feeling so “blah” and have just been soooo….dang……tired……
I’ve been trying to calm my life down a bit and, consequently, have been spending entirely too much time doing this….
I must say that Candy Crush Saga is a dang fun game, but it so so addicting and a total time waster.
It’s exactly what I need right now. 😉 It definitely takes my mind off of being sick 24/7 and helps me to relax. Sooooo, if you want to connect with me on Facebook you can send me more lives, K? I’ll return the favor. Hee hee.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time snuggling with these two cuties…
My five year old is in afternoon Kindergarten, so I love spending my mornings with these squishy kiddos. I don’t know what in the world I’m going to do when he leaves me to go to first grade ALL DAY LONG next year. 🙁
Oh, I gotta tell you guys that I went to my first doctor appointment for this pregnancy today. Joy. Visiting the OB/GYN is always loads of fun, right!?
She confirmed my due date of August 18th and did a quick ultrasound. She told me there is just ONE little baby in there (Kev breathed a big sigh of relief!) and I was able to see the little “blinking light” heartbeat. It was darling.
Even though I’ve done this a million times, it’s always so much fun to see and feel the miracle of being pregnant. I’ve really been trying to enjoy this pregnancy because I know it’s my last. Actually, I would like to fast forward a month (until I don’t feel sick anymore) AND then I will try to enjoy this pregnancy.
Oh, and I weighed in up 4 POUNDS total today. Dang, dang. It is so tough to watch the weight creep up so quickly. Yikes. Oh, and I was also sad to notice one of my pairs of jeans felt a little snug today. It wasn’t just in the waist either….they felt snug in the thighs too!!!??
What the heck!??
My goal is to gain around 30 pounds total. We’ll see. I will do my best.
It’s been so so tough to eat healthy lately though. I’ve just been eating whatever sounds good. I’m trying to watch my portions though and not be a total pig.
It’s tough. As soon as I don’t feel sick anymore, I’m planning to eat a lot healthier!
I’ve still been working out from home a few times a week. It’s been great. I love working out with my buddy too. We did a killer workout on Saturday that I loved. We just did a bunch of upper body and cardio moves.
Here we are doing bicep curls, overhead tricep extensions and high knees…
Oh and just so ya know, I told my son he should wear shoes, but he didn’t want to. I HIGHLY recommend wearing shoes when you workout, FYI!
Anyway, we also did some burpees…
Planks…
And I ended the workout by running 20 minutes on the treadmill. It was great.
I really wanted to workout today, but it was an extra “blah-ish” day, so I decided to opt out. 🙁 I’m hoping to feel better tomorrow.
Oh, and we had a very nice three day weekend. I hope y’all had a nice one as well. On Friday night, we went over to our friend’s house to play some games.
We had an absolute ball and enjoyed eating way too much junk food. I gotta say that Ruffles chips tasted absolutely heavenly to me that night. I don’t know if it was the salt or what, but they were wonderful.
Now they sound disgusting to me, however. Strange.
Oh, and speaking of strange….I know a lot of you found my whole “bananas with cheese” snack to be very odd. LOL!
I thought I would share a little bit of the background behind this interesting combination…
When I was young, I grew up on a wonderful cul-de-sac full of a BUNCH of kids. In fact, here’s a pic of me and my sisters with some of our neighborhood friends…
This pic was taken in 1985. I was 9 years old. I am on the left in the purple. My older sister, Holly is in the middle in the back and my little sister Laurie, is in the front on the right. I love ALL these guys so much!!
I believe I had the best childhood ever and enjoyed playing morning and night with all the kids in my neighborhood. Anyway, one of the many things we loved to do was create new foods and come up with interesting concoctions. Most of the time, we came up with really gross things….
BUT, one day my neighbor friend decided to slice up a banana and top it with shredded cheese. She called it a “Cheesy Baneenee” and we all thought it was absolutely wonderful! Oh, and in case you’re wondering, that cute little blond girl in the picture next to me is the one who came up with this wonderful concoction.
I continued to make “Cheesy Baneenees” all through high school, and obviously I still make them today! My kids love them too. I know it’s a weird combo, but it’s seriously so good!
Sooooo, there’s a little history for ya. Awesome.
On Sunday night, we went up to my parents house for a nice dinner. We had Hawaiian Haystacks, meatballs and I brought some homemade rolls.
My sister and I took our usual picture with our food and we were photo bombed by my brother and brother-in-law!
Too funny. Since that picture is a little blurry, here’s another (not photo bombed) one!
I love Hawaiian Haystacks SO MUCH! I think I’ll have to make them again soon.
Well, that’s the latest on my strange life. I have so much more to share with you guys, so I’ll try to be a better blogger this week!
Have a great night!

When I was little my friend and I would eat cheddar cheese with mustard. It was pretty good. 🙂 I also ate toast with ketchup , not so good, and saltine crackers with spaghetti sauce. I still like that, in fact I ate it today for lunch. 🙂 Glad to hear you and your bubby are good, hope you get over the blahs quickly. 🙂

Ahhh, so jealous. Except for the feeling blah part. I love that you can still exercise through the ickyness. I always gain 10 pounds the first trimester even though I can’t keep anything down. I think it’s because I just lay on the couch for 20 weeks and my body goes into hibernation. You will sail through this and be so beautiful the whole time! Lucky girl:)
Melanie says
I wish I could exercise more than I am. It’s definitely hit and miss! I can’t wait until I feel better again. I’m not so sure this pregnancy will be pretty though. 😉 I’m already feeling pretty huge and am starving all the time. Yikes.
Alex @ Kenzie Life says
It’s so awesome you got to see the heartbeat and your baby 🙂 But I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well, that has to be really tough. I would’ve never thought of bananas and cheese, maybe I’ll try it 🙂 Hope you get to feeling better soon! And by the way, you look stunning as always!
Melanie says
Thanks so much! It really was so fun to see the little baby and heartbeat. 😉
FitBritt@MyOwnBalance says
I was able to pick you out in that photo! And my second choice was your older sister!
I’m so excited for you and your little bun! August 18th! Wooo hoo! Does working out ever make you feel less sick? What about eating? I think you look really great!
Melanie says
Thanks!! Yes, working out does make me feel better…at least while I’m doing it. As soon as I’m done exercising, I’m pretty much back to “blah” again though. 🙁 I also get really, really sick if I go too long without eating. Food makes me feel better, but not awesome.
Kim says
Sorry that you are still feeling crummy even knowing it’s just temporary isn’t really helping right now!!
Love that you are still working out but listening to your body, too!
My oldest son is always doing little parts of workouts with me barefoot – drives me crazy!!!
Melanie says
Thanks…I will be SO HAPPY when this “sick part” is over with. I don’t understand the whole working out without shoes thing. It would drive me crazy.
Davida @The Healthy Maven says
You look like my Dad and me in the gym!!! My Dad and I work out twice a week together and have the best time. He used to smoke me on weights and I would return the favor in cardio but now that I’m injured it’s the total opposite. It’s kind of funny to watch him speed past me running intervals while I speed walk lol
Melanie says
That’s SO AWESOME that you workout with your dad! Love it. I hope my kids still want to work out with me when I’m an (extra) old lady. 😉
GiGi Eats Celebrities says
You are such a cute preggy! Ha ha ha, like my nickname for pregnant?? 😉 I love that you’re keeping active too. I mean you are a seasoned pro at being pregnant so I wouldn’t expect ANYTHING LESS! 😉 And I never got addicted to Candy Crush – I tried, got to level 17 and said, huh? What’s all the commotion about?!
Melanie says
Consider yourself lucky that Candy Crush didn’t suck you in! I’m amazed.
The Vegan 8 says
I think you look so awesome!! I think that is amazing that you are still working out so good. That’s so cute that the story of the bananas and cheese dates back to your childhood and I love that photo..totally knew which one you were. So cute! Hope you feel better soon!
Melanie says
Thanks! I wish I was working out more. I have good intentions, but seem to poop out too often. Sigh. I’ll just keep pluggin’ along….
bezzymates says
Good for you for sticking with your workouts although not feeling yourself. A few people at work are really into candy crush. I have to avoid it because I know I’ll be hooked. I remember being about your son’s age and working out with my mom.
Melanie says
Thanks! Yes, I would stay far away from Candy Crush. It’s definitely a time sucker. I love that you used to work out with your mom!
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Melanie says
Thanks so much! Me too!

That Hawaiian Haystack looks so good with the quinoa and gravy – yummo! I love the workout pics – too cute – I’m sure it’s nice to have workout buddies!
Melanie says
I really, really love Hawaiian Haystacks….so much! I’ve had a lot of fun working out with my little cutie.

Amazing! My wife loves playing Candy Crush now. She got it no joke like two days ago and is seriously addicted to it! Working out is always a blast, especially when you have other people who do it with you! Helps give you that extra motivation. The food, once again, looks amazingly delicious!
Melanie says
Candy Crush is so much fun, yet sadly so addicting! I completely agree that it is so much more fun to work out with other people too. 😉
