Some Great Workouts and Costa Vida Food

June 15, 20132 Comments

Happy weekend everyone!

I went to a dang freaking awesome class at the gym this morning.  It is so so so hard, almost unbelievably hard.

Seriously.

It’s one of my favorite classes, but I haven’t been able to go to it for months because I’ve been going to my boy’s soccer games every Saturday morning.  🙁  SO, now that soccer season is over, I decided to go back to my beloved class again.

And I just about died.

The instructor is really big on pushups; we do at least 120 pushups every class (divided up into groups of 20-30 at a time.)  I used to be able to do most, if not all of the push ups on my toes, but I was a big wimp this morning.  I probably did about 50 of them on my toes, and the rest on my knees.

I gotta say that knee pushups are still hard too!  When I finally dropped to my knees, I expected to feel a big reprieve…..not so!  It was still freaking hard.

We pretty much worked every muscle to a pulp…and I loved it.

When I got home from the gym, we decided to take the kids to Costa Vida for lunch.  Yum!  I ordered a small sweet pork salad….

Me with Costa Vida salad

My salad looks small in this picture, but I assure you it was HUGE!  It included a small flour tortilla, lettuce, sweet pork, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and a little bit of Cotija cheese.  I squeezed some lime juice on top and then drizzled a little bit of ranch dressing over it as well.

I was starving, so I ate every last bit of it….tortilla and all.  I calculated the calories to be right around 550.  Not too bad.  And, I was stuffed.

Kev got some nachos and the kids got quesadilla kids meals.

Kev and J at Costa Vida

I caught Kev mid chew in this pic, lol.  Don’t ya think he looks a bit like John Travolta in this picture??  It’s funny because when I first met Kev, I didn’t know his name, so I referred to him as the “guy who looks like John Travolta.”  Funny thing is I don’t think he looks much like John Travolta anymore….but I do in this pic!

Kids at Costa Vida

I love my cute kiddos.  Oh and btw, my oldest son tries to pose funny in most of the pictures I take.  This is the best pic I could get.  He’s such a card.

Moving on….

I went on a four mile run yesterday morning with my sweet dog, Jimmy.  Since I started taking him on runs with me, he now wants to come every single time.  It’s sweet….but a tad bit annoying. 😉

Run with Jim

Don’t we look like a fierce team???  People probably think I’m ridiculous running with my tiny 7 pound yorkie/chihuahua, but he LOVES it!

Oh, and before we left, I had a quick, small bowl of Frosted Flakes!

Frosted Flakes

Yes, the breakfast of champions.  Actually, I went to Costco the other day with all 5 kids and the Frosted Flakes were on sale.

And, they also happen to be a little bit freaking awesome.

‘Nuf said.

I really love starting out my Friday with a great run.

I especially enjoyed listening to some 80s rock on my iPod (courtesy of Kev) on my run.  I thought I’d change it up a bit!  Some of my favorites were, Dude (looks like a lady) by Aerosmith, Let’s Get Rocked by Def Leopard, Centerfold by The J. Geils Band, Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne and Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.

So fun.  Speaking of 80’s rock, I have to tell y’all a funny story.  When my daughter was in 2nd grade, she had to fill out a sheet with all of her “favorites.”  I laughed SO HARD when I saw she had written “Rock You Like a Hurricane” as her favorite song.  LOL!  Classic.

Well, I have a lot more to tell y’all about, but I think this post is already long enough….so I will finish it up!  I hope each and every one of you has a very fun rest of the weekend and I wish all you Fathers out there a very happy Father’s Day tomorrow.

Love ya all!

That’s funny! I love taking our dogs for a brisk walk every morning right now. We have a 6 lb yorkie, Sam, and an 8 lb chihuahua mix, Lexi, so two dogs that combined look just like yours! Lol! Anyway, I’m 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and brisk walking with them has kept me sane and feeling good about myself. I love reading your family stories! Thanks for sharing your life and your healthy habits!

Thanks so much Whitney! That’s so funny about your dogs! Yorkies and chihuahuas are my favorites. So cute. Congrats on your pregnancy too! I hope you’re feeling well. I’m always so sick from about 8 to 16 weeks. Blah. I wish you all the best!
