I was a very busy lady this past weekend! First off, my birthday was on Saturday (February 9th) and I turned 37!! Auughh! It’s amazing how quickly time flies and how old I am becoming. Seriously, I still feel 18.
I have a million and one pictures to share with you, so I apologize in advance for the photo dump…
On Thursday night, I went out with some of my old high school friends. We went to Red Rock for dinner and had a great time. My friends ordered Bruschetta as an appetizer. I tried a piece and it was superb!
I ordered the New York steak salad for dinner and it was just average. The steak was quite fatty and the salad itself was just ho-hum, nothing spectacular.
Here’s a description of the salad from their website;
Broiled 7 oz. New York steak topped with melted Gorgonzola cheese on a bed of Romaine lettuce, garlic toast croutons, Roma tomatoes, red onions & cucumbers with Dijon vinaigrette.
After dinner, my friends ordered a couple slices of carrot cake. I tried a few bites and HOLY COW, it was fabulous! I didn’t take a picture of it though, dang it.
I had such a great time catching up and laughing with my friends!
Because of religious reasons (we’re all Mormon), none of us drink alcohol…but you’d never know it! We laughed and laughed and laughed, ALL NIGHT LONG. We had a ball.
My friend Kristen (bottom center) and I were saying that when we get together, we immediately go back to “high school mode.” It seems like just yesterday we were running around footloose and fancy free!
As we were walking back to our cars, we were jolted back to reality. We said, “Now we have to be responsible mothers once again, lol!”
I love being a “responsible mother”, but it’s so nice to laugh and have a great time with my girlfriends too!
On Friday night, Kev and I went to the Jazz game with some of our good friends. Another friend of ours gave us 4 “fancy schmancy” Executives Club tickets to the game.
We’d never been to the Executives Club before and it was a lot of fun. When we got there, they had a full buffet dinner for us. YUM! I started out with a small salad, but forgot to take a picture of it! Then I went back for the main course,
I tried a little bit of a bunch of things. I tried not to eat too much because I knew they were going to have a “dessert buffet” at halftime! I had fruit, veggies, roasted potatoes, some kind of chicken mixture and a couple little baby chicken cordon bleu things. Everything was wonderful!
It’s too bad I’m not a huge seafood fan because they had a TON of seafood, sushi and sashimi stuff available as well. 🙁
After dinner, we enjoyed the game!
The seats were great, but I just wish the Jazz could have pulled off a win! 🙁
At halftime, we enjoyed the dessert buffet. I’m sorry to say, they didn’t have many desserts that I love. Maybe that was a good thing, however. 😉 I ended up grabbing a slice of carrot cake and a bowl of ice cream.
I ate about half the carrot cake (the skinny side) and half of the ice cream. It was yummy, but the carrot cake was not nearly as yummy as the kind I had at Red Rock the night before!
We had a wonderful night of great food and a great game….with great friends! Loved it!
On Saturday I had a FULL day of birthday fun!
I went to one of my favorite gym classes in the morning. It is a CRAZY hard class, but I love it so much. It’s also extremely popular. If you don’t get there 10-15 minutes early, you don’t get a spot! I took a picture so you could see how crazy it is…
Every single bar and free weight was used and almost all of the benches were used too! Crazy. I’d guess there were about 50-60 people there!
When I got home, my sweet little baby (2 1/2 years old) sang me the cutest little birthday song. I loved it so much. He is just such a sweetheart.
Later on, we took the kids to lunch at Red Robin. Red Robin is SO SO yummy and the customer service is amazing! Kev and I shared a burger, fries and a side salad. When they brought it out, they had split everything for us without any extra “sharing charge.” Red Robin is the best.
Love my cute kiddos. Yes, my 4 year old is making a funny face….he is a character!
As we were driving home, I snapped a picture of the kids in the van,
Note: Yes, I know my baby’s seat belt is a little jacked. I fixed it after I took this pic! Anyway, I took this picture because I realized how quickly my kids are growing up! I wanted to remember how fun it is to have all of us together….squished into our tiny minivan!
When we got home, I took a nice little nap (best birthday gift ever!) and then went out on a date with Kev. We went shopping and stopped to get my favorite treat….a sugar cookie from Smart Cookie! Don’t let the name fool you however, they are not “smart” or healthy at all!
Afterward, we went to a late-night showing of the movie “Warm Bodies.” It was a cute, yet very interesting show.
Well, that’s my birthday weekend in a nutshell! Yes, I ate a lot of “not so healthy” food, but I didn’t eat too much of anything! I tried to enjoy everything without pigging out or stuffing myself. It was great.
But, now that the birthday is over, I’m back to being a “responsible” healthy eater once again! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend too! 😉
