I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! We had a great one. Since I haven’t been able to blog for a few days, I have a lot of share with you guys! Here’s the 411 of the past few days…
Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, we went to see the movie Frozen with my brother, sister and their families.
It was such a great movie!! The music was unbelievable and I loved every minute of the movie. I think it’s hands down the best Disney movie ever. I can’t wait to see it again!
After the movie, my sister and her family came over to our house for a nice Christmas Eve dinner/lunch.
We had turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls and Jello. Yum.
It was a wonderful dinner and I loved enjoying it with some of my favorite people in the world…
Later on that night, we enjoyed some fun Christmas Eve traditions with our little family. The kids loved getting new jammies; The big kids got jammie pants and the two little ones got Super Hero jammies.
We also enjoyed sitting around the Christmas tree, singing Christmas Carols, reading Christmas stories and reading the actual Christmas story from Luke 2.
Kev read the story, “How Mrs. Claus Saved Christmas” to the kids. It was first published in Family Circle Magazine back in 1961 and Kev’s dad has read it every year since then.
Since we couldn’t be with Kev’s family for Christmas this year, Kev decided to read it to the kids. They loved it.
After the kiddos went to bed, Kev and I “helped” Santa by wrapping all the presents and getting everything ready….
I also have to share a picture of my favorite Nativity set that I love so much!
Kev bought it for me several years ago and I look forward to pulling it out each year. It’s made by Willow Tree and I love it.
I also have to show you guys another Nativity Set that was special to us this year…
A sweet family in our neighborhood did the “Twelve Days of Christmas” to us this year. That means that for twelve days (the twelve days before Christmas) we received a nice letter every day, which sometimes included a piece of this nativity set. We received the final letter on Christmas Eve night, along with the figurine of the Baby Jesus.
Isn’t that sweet? We loved it and looked forward to it every day. We’re still not sure who did it, but we were very grateful. 😉
Christmas
On Christmas morning, the kids were so excited to see what Santa brought…
Oh, and I just have to mention that I made the mistake of making those cute stockings for my three big kids several years ago. I love them, but they are extremely time consuming to make! Sooooo, my poor little kiddos just have fluffy red and white stockings. I still intend to make them “real” stockings some day, but I just haven’t done it yet. Dang.
Anyway, after the kids opened their presents, Kev made breakfast for everyone. He made his specialty, “Mountain Man Breakfast” and it was awesome.
He cooked some hash browns with onions (and usually peppers, but we skipped it this time), then added some eggs and cooked sausage. After the eggs were cooked, he added some cheese. It was wonderful!
I love to top mine with ketchup. It is seriously so yummy!!
Our family friend, Luis spent Christmas morning with us as well and we enjoyed having breakfast with him…
Later on, we went up to my parent’s house. We had dinner up there and also sang “Happy Birthday” to my poor 15 year old son who’s birthday is on Christmas!
He’s actually a good sport and says he likes having his birthday on Christmas. He’s a sweetie.
Oh, and FYI a few years ago, we started celebrating his birthday on or around June 25th, so he doesn’t have to get all his presents on the same day. We still sing to him and try to make him feel special on Christmas, but we save all of the birthday “hoopla” for the summer. It seems to work well.
Anyway, on Christmas night, Kev and I decided to go to another movie with my sister and bro-in-law. We went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and it was such a STRANGE show!
I love Ben Stiller (some people say Kev looks like Ben Stiller, btw.), but the show itself was so dang weird. It was strangely entertaining, but it’s not one of those movies you’d want to see over and over again.
After Christmas
Now that Christmas is over (phew!), life has been calming down a bit and it’s been nice.
Kev and I officially got our Christmas cards out today! Ya, we’re lame. But, I figure it’s better late than never!
I’m glad to have that done and I intend to get them out the day after Thanksgiving next year!
I also went to the gym last night and got a great workout in. We had a substitute instructor, which I was initially disappointed about, but she seriously kicked our butts!
I snapped a quick pic after class ended…
The gym wasn’t too busy, which was nice, but I’m worried about how crazy it will be next week! Auughh.
Well, that pretty much sums up our Christmas. It was wonderful, but I’m ready to hit it hard for the New Year. I’m working on a healthy diet and exercise plan and I will share it with y’all ASAP.
I hope you all have a great night and enjoy your Friday (I’ve completely forgotten what day of the week it is, lol!)
I’m sorry this post was so long!!! I love you all!

Our little 4 year old would LOVE some like it! Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas…me & my husband went to the movies as well a few days before Christmas and saw Madea’s Family Christmas…it was funny but also had a good story line/lesson to it as well! 🙂

Great Christmas recap. Your son is a Christmas baby! My sister’s birthday is on the 22, so her birthday gifts are always her Christmas gifts too. You’re looking fit; the guns are really powerful looking. Keep up the good work. Montain man breakfast looks delicious.
Melanie says
Awww, thanks so much! I know, I think it would be tough to have a birthday on or near Christmas. Thank goodness my son is pretty low maintenance and doesn’t seem to mind. 🙂

I love the music from Frozen also! And I have the same Willow Tree nativity…I actually go ahead and leave mine up all year. I am bummed to hear that Mitty wasn’t so great…I was hopeful for that one. Glad you had a wonderful Christmas!
Melanie says
I love that you keep your nativity up all year ’round. It’s so beautiful. I was bummed that Mitty wasn’t that great either. I love Ben Stiller, but it was such a strange movie.

Such wonderful photos….you have such an awesome, blessed family, you are truly blessed! That is so funny, I’d have to agree that your hubby does kind of look like Ben Stiller! I love Ben Stiller, he is hilarious. I have heard that movie Frozen is really good….I will check it out! Glad to hear you had such a wonderful Christmas….we had a wonderful one too. My daughter (2 yrs old) got sooooo many gifts, it was ridiculous, lol. Being the only grandchild on both sides of the family makes for one spoiled child 🙂
Melanie says
Thanks so so much! I really am thankful every single day for my husband and family. They are my life….they (the kids) drive me crazy at times, but I’m so grateful anyway. That’s so funny your daughter got so many presents on Christmas! She’s a doll and I’m sure the grandparents loved spoiling her. So fun!
